Cafe Wester

I had a nice relaxing afternoon here, at a table by the river at Wester Café.
Couple of beers, delicious chicken sandwich, good attending hosts, smiling faces, sunny sky…
Besides it was the next best thing after aI saw the devastating line for the Anne Frank House.

Great breakfast! Have the cheese & bacon pancakes. Beautiful outdoor seating on the canal. Went back for a evening drink indoors. Small but charming pub. Very friendly staff.

A really nice bar/​café to visit on a nice sunny day! Sitting next to the canals watching the boats go by is my favorite part about the place.
They have a lot of snacks to choose from but i enjoy their hummus or bitterballen, also if you go there in the evening you must have their HAMBURGER with Guacamole its delicious, the only issue though is that it is only served from 6 till the burgers last. They run out super fast!!!

We’d been craving a real breakfast so we stopped in here after touring the Anne Frank House. It’s a small place with only room for maybe 20 people. Despite, there being only one waitress, she was efficient and provided speedy service.
The menu isn’t very extensive, as it is a bar, so we both ordered the apple pancakes. They were more crêpe-​like than American pancakes but were good and came with a slice of cheese and bacon folded within the pancakes. It was nice to finally have something other than a croissant or danish for breakfast.
Café Wester is a place where the locals frequent, not at all a tourist trap. The prices were reasonable and the service was great, what more could you ask for.

We stayed just up the street from this café and stopped here a number of times for La Chouffe beers and Bitterballen. Lovely terrace seating right on the canal. Service is a bit hit or miss, but we enjoyed it. Would definitely come back!

Small place to relax and have a drink. Dim lighting at night offers a chill, intimate atmosphere as you watch friends and coworkers get together for an after work drink. We tried the bitterballs and the cheese sticks. Nothing special. I´d go back for the atmosphere before the food. ‚)

Small and cozy bar. Great music playlist and the bartender is friendly. Must get bitterballs and cheese sticks with a beer!

Die Lage an der Gracht ist wunderschön. Wir haben hier eine Bier und ein belegtes Brötchen gegessen und ansonsten die Aussicht, die Menschen, die Pferde, die Boote, das Wetter usw. genossen kleines Bier 2,50 belegtes Brötchen 5,95

What a joyous bar. Packed as it was, people were in cheerful moods as they stood or sat throughout the place. Groups, or singles enjoyed not so pricy drinks and the relaxed atmosphere. We stayed for a few hours, or at least until last call (2:30 for most Amsterdam joints) and had a great time. Photographers come in with polaroid cameras and take pictures, for a price. And do not miss the quotes in the bathroom. You will laugh.

Grab a table outdoors right along the canal and enjoy a cold beer or warm coffee while enjoying the fantastic view of the Westerkerk that is in clear view. Also a great spot for people watching along the canal and just across the street from the Anne Frank House. Lovely place to sit back and just enjoy the beauty of Amsterdam.

Really relaxed, stylish but cozy décor, extra-​nice and helpful staff. Amazing bitterballen, gin, and Palm beer. Felt like I was at a best friend’s house. Great music in the background, too.

We stopped in to Café Wester after finding the café we’d planned on lunching in closed until 3pm. Seeing the inviting canal-​side location and filled tables at Café Wester, we nabbed one of the last tables outside and ordered espressos and croissants. After checking out the menu, we realized that we were actually hungry for a meal and so then also ordered a chicken sandwich to split.
The croissant was as most are — amazing, buttery, flaky and decadent. The sandwich was equally as enjoyable, and after seeing the sandwiches of other patrons we realized that they were all delicious-​looking. The service was impeccable!
If we’d had more time in Amsterdam, we definitely would have returned to Café Wester.
