Slightly older lesbian crowd, overall chill atmosphere. Extremely affordable drinks, attentive staff. Come later rather than sooner, as the bar hits its peek after midnight. Music sometimes pretty shitty, like euro techno kinda shitty, but the bartenders in charge usually grant requests. Turns into a dancefloor as the night goes on so get your party on ladies!

So my girlfriend and I are staying almost next door to this place and one night after dinner, we stop in for some drinks. She catches on in minutes. I daftly and blissfully unaware that this is a lesbian bar continue happily drinking my Heineken and commenting on the raunchy named shots they make there that include lady parts in their titles. I did not even notice the two people passionately upon one another at the end of the bar until it was pointed out that it was two women. Well so what. Yeah I was the only guy in the place other than a dude bar tending but it did not seem to matter. It was kinda a cool bar and the beer was cold and they were jamming these 80’s new wave videos on the TV. Small bar with some outside seating and regardless of your possible lifestyle preferences, seemed like a cool place.

I walked in tired after having wandered through Amsterdam for hours, cell phone almost dead, and really needing wifi to «find myself» in this awesome but rather difficult to navigate city.
The bartender was beyond friendly, she allowed me to charge up my phone with a simple wave, provided a free wifi password and then I ordered a fine Belgian beer.
Very relaxed environment, I would have moved in if allowed, and the price for the beer was so reasonable! She even helped me with directions to a nearby restaurant, and I found it right away.
The Dutch have a word for the atmosphere at this bar, it is «Gezellig!»

A landmark gay women’s bar. Ask a Dutch lesbian about the «Vie» and I guarantee you she knows it. Pretty dull on week nights but packed on Fridays and Saturdays.

Perhaps it was because it was during Amsterdam Pride, but I found this bar EXTREMELY overpriced. If it was because of Pride then that’s even worse, taking advantage. Love Amsterdam. Wouldn’t go back to this bar.

The Vivelavie is a great lesbian bar in Amsterdam. But of course everyone is welcome. Lesbian, Bi oder heteroif you enjoy a nice eve with the girls it’s the place to be. The cocktails are nice and the beer is ice cold. With your drinks your always get a free bowl with Asian rice snacks (incl. a re-​fill through out the night). Food is not the best but ok. The bar is packed in the evening and it’s a mix of locals and a few tourists. Even the age ranges from young chicks to older ladies. It’s a fun mix which you shouldn’t miss out on.
