This was our second time dining here over the years and it has remained consistently above average in that time. Wait staff here are friendly and good natured. Food leans towards modern French. Very well executed, had the braised veal on my most recent visit and the Tarte Tatin, both were exceptional. Saw a few steak frites going by and they looked exceptional as well. This place is solid and will not disapoint.

This place has a happening, bustling atmosphere but not too loud you cannot enjoy a nice meal. That said, we were underwhelmed with our meals. My husband got the steak frite and I got the«catch of the day» the market-fresh mussels. My problem with the mussels was that I could almost taste the sea – not my favorite…

Fancy French like food in Amsterdam. I guess this place usually gets busy and you need resos, but we managed to score 1 table! We ordered the snails. I was good, but not as good as he one in Paris. They also took out the shell and so it really was just the snail. I got the the bouillabaisse, the seafood soup. It was quite small for the price. Not really generous in portions. My friend got the halibut entrée. I didn’t ask her how it tasted. But my soup was good just not enough for the entrée price. We didn’t get dessert because we didnt see anything good, they only have mostly citrus flavored dessert and one chocolate dessert.

Neighborhood restaurant on the edge of de Pijp at the other side of Albert Cuyp street. The restaurant has a charming and warm interior with quite friendly service. We had booked a table for 2 a few days in advance and arrived to find our reservation missing. The host was very apologetic and sat us at the bar and offered us a free drink. They scrambled up a new table in a matter of 10 minutes. We each had a starter — me a goose paté and my girlfriend the steak tartare. My goose came highly recommended by the host but frankly it tasted like cold, leftover Thanksgiving turkey. My girlfriend’s steak tartare came disassembled with the raw beef, mayonnaise and sauce in separate compartments and it’s up to the diner to choose the optimal mix. We didn’t find this novel — just annoying. Our mains were the Biefstuk and the Fish of the Day(sea bass). My steak was cooked nicely but extremely bland. The fish was served on a bed of witlof and was a generous portion, but nothing special. Overall I waffled between a 2 and a 3, but as the price was steep — 18 for the main and 9 for the starter, our food disappointed and our reservation was lost, I’ve got to be a bit harsh and level a 2. I frankly wouldn’t go back when there are plenty of quality neighborhood French style bistros in Amsterdam of higher quality where a 3 course fixed-price menu can be had at 25 or 26 euros(think Vooges on Utrechtestraat or Balthazar’s Keuken in the Jordaan).
