Very much enjoyed our experience here! With over 50 beers on tap, there’s definitely something for everyone! All amazing Dutch beers. We also tried Jenever for the first time here and it was great! Our bartender, Sam, was very nice and helpful with great recommendations. If you’re looking for a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere and some quality Dutch beers and Jenever this is the perfect spot!

The reigning Lord of Amsterdam beer bars. Popular and seats go fast… come early. Ask for the massive all-Dutch beer list and prepare to have your preconceived notions of Dutch beer being all Heinekin or Amstel blown away. Ask the bartender for recommendations if you can catch their eye. They might be off reading Kierkegaard or Sartre or whatever. Dog friendly.

I can see why this place comes highly recommended. The menu boasts a variety of Dutch beers and they offer charcuterie, cheeses and other various snacks, at a very fair price. The staff is friendly and super helpful. When my boyfriend and I sat down at the end of the bar, the light was glaring on the chalkboard menu, making it hard for me to see the selection, but the bartender was nice enough to turn the lights down(without me requesting so), so that I could see the menu. The beers were all delicious, as well as the food, in which we got in generous portions. All-in-all, this is a great place, especially for beer enthusiasts. We will definitely be visiting here again!

Charming old bar in a pretty central location in Amsterdam. I was really excited to try this as it is the sister bar to «Beer Temple» which is absolutely amazing. It’s pretty small inside, but luckily we were able to grab some seats at the bar. Our bartender was really friendly and was happy to help us choose from the large list of bottle and draft beers. Prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of the beer you get. Only knock down to 4 stars — there were quite a few kegs that were empty. I had to try re-ordering about 3 different times because the beers I wanted were out and they didn’t change out the keg.

Very good small bar full of atmosphere and friendly chatter. It is a bar for lovers of specialist beers. The bar staff are very helpful and are willing to spend time describing the various beers before you try them. Many of the beers on offer range in strength from 7% to over 11% so make sure you go here with a non-drinking member of your group to help get you home. Its not cheap averaging about € 5 for 25 ml glasses of beer. Its not a place you would go to to swallow down pints of beer with your mates. We didn’t get to sample the food in the bar that seemed to consist of cheeses and hams on wooden serving platters which seemed very tempting but neither of us could afford the calories. Watch out for the steep steps when you are leaving after those strong beers.

This is where you go if you want to try only Dutch beers! The bartenders are kind and will help find a beer that suits your palate. While we were enjoying the atmosphere, a tourist family of three came in and the bartenders quickly(and politely) shuffled some of us around so there would be room for them at the bar. Even though this couple brought their young kid, they were able to get an apple juice for him and a nice-looking cheese plate to share. There was also a huge dog that just laid about under his owner’s table so it seems all are welcome. Cozy bar with excellent service.

Ran into this place while walking around the city & was not disappointed — even came back a second time the next day. So many beers on tap & the staff is VERY helpful in pairing you with a beer. I told him I like pale ales & he gave me a Tempelbier from Jopen. Gets really crowded during the week between 5 – 7, so get there early :)

If you’re a fan of great beer and want to experience local flavor and friendly service, I highly recommend a trip here. My friend and I came here on a Friday around 3pm after exploring the Jordaan district and it wasn’t crowded at first, but it became pretty busy within the hour. They have a huge selection of locally brewed beers on tap and an outside terrace. The woman behind the bar gave us samples of different brews based on our preference(for me an amber IPA) and did not disappoint.

Great place with great dutch beers. Loved the sausage with the great truffle cheese. A nice spot to spend some time with friends.

What a fun place. The night we went, it was rocking. I think there were five of us so to get a table we had to go downstairs. The bad part is that if you are downstairs, you have to go upstairs to order and get your beers, and then carry them downstairs. The good part is that when they aren’t so slammed, they will help you carry your stuff down. They had a very interesting cheese served with a coating of delicious mustard on top. It came on a platter with a guillotine attached for slicing off a piece. The beers were the best we had in two week and three countries. The staff were friendly and had plenty of english to help us along. Very nice beer selection and great vibe. I would definitely return.

Charming old wooden and brass inside bar, beautiful small outdoor patio right on the canal. Friendly staff that know everything about their beer. And the beer, all Dutch microbrews, outstanding, and rarely exported. These are a few of the reasons this is one of my favorite bars in the world! Het Arendsnest is truly a hidden gem, located a very short walk from the hordes of tourists in central Amsterdam, and yet almost completely unknown to all but the beer cognoscenti. I’ve been coming here for years now, although it is getting discovered more lately, so you might have to time your visits for an off hour. The taps are usually exclusively dutch breweries without a drop of Heineken in sight. They have some very special treats on the bottle list, including a library of each year’s barrel-aged La Trappe quad. They’re expensive(€ 20+), but so worth it for a splurge. Worth a stop on every visit to Amsterdam.

Amazing selection of beers. Curated is a good word to describe what they do. But sounds awfully pretentious — its a bar for chrissake! This bar is rated as one of the best belgian/dutch beer bars in AMS. Its hard to argue with that honestly. But the notiriety drives some popularity. Many beer lovers, some beer snobs, and more than a few tourists who come here looking to say — «just give me the best beer Ive ever had.» Small snack menus of sausages, cheeses, that go really well with the beers. Definitely a great spot. And fancy enough to be a place to take a business partner.

Small but very nice bar. The beer is perfect and staff are very nice. But it is real small and you must come earlier to find a seat.

Arendsnest is probably my favorite beer bar I visited while I was in Amsterdam. It just feels so much cleaner than the others(notably it doesn’t smell like stale beer and yack) and the selection is top notch. They carry Belgian beers and many other craft Dutch beers. Do ask for a taster before you invest in one because there were a few that tasted pretty nasty(FAIL for butcher’s tears). 4 stars.

Tolle Bierauswahl, leider kann man nicht so viel trinken als das die Karte hergibt. Diese Kneipe darf bei keinem Amsterdam Besuch fehlen, zumindestens bei Bierliebhabern!

This is a local pub best for beer lovers. They have a number of local(Dutch) beers on tap, the bartenders are very friendly and offer you tastings in case you wanted to try a few before buying a full pint(or half). The décor is very pleasant with a high class feel and the pricing is reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place mainly if you are into beers although they do have other selections.

If you are a fan of Dutch beers this might be the place for you and your mates. They have a great selection(and from what I recall Dutch only) and you can choose samples or more. I am not a fan of Dutch beer(type of hops used) usually, but this place actually had great Dutch beer! I tried four different. Helpful staff! Outdoor seating is super nice situated by the canal but a bit tricky. Hold on to your belongings and to your glass of beer! It is cramped and uneven, it even leans towards the canal.

Absolutely fantastic place to get a beer in Amsterdam. Perhaps the best! Their selection is large but not so large that you fear beers have been«sitting around» for too long. They have a good list on the chalk board, and the prices are very fair. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and speak excellent English. It’s located close to the city center, but a bit off of the beaten track, which can help with crowds. However, the inside is small and even on a Thursday evening I was lucky to get a seat.

SO many dutch beers on tap, which was great, but definitely a little more expensive than some of the other places we had been. The bartenders were helpful when we would describe what kind of taste we were going for and offer suggestions. They were pleasant and patient with the adoring Americans as we shuffled through pages and pages of beer. The place gets a little crowded, but on a trip to the bathroom I discovered there was actually more seating downstairs. The front table is nice with more room. Décor is really cool and definitely adds to the experience. I wish they did flights, but otherwise, definitely worth while to check out.
