In this toko I usually don’t go for the meals but go straight for the freezer. That’s where you’ll find the 400cc tubes of frozen soup. On offer are the homemade indonesian spicy chicken soup(soto ayam) and hearthy oxtail tail soup(buhtut). It’s perfect emergency food for those cold days when you’re hibernating and haven’t stepped a foot out side the door in 5 days. One portion will set you back ~ € 3.50−4 and the soups are chunky and filling, almost like a complete meal. The snacks aren’t bad either. Tried the sate kambing(goats meat skewers in a sweet soy sauce marinade) and the sate babi(pork skewers with an oniony tomatoey sauce). Although I rather prefer the sate babi from Sukarasa(also in A’veen), Toko Manisan is cheaper. I never tried the chicken sate, since usually chicken breasts are used for chicken sate and I’m not a fan of the dry chicken breasts as they remind me of the rubbery flabs of Magda, the sun worshipping neighbour in There’s something about Mary
