There are many other hardware stores on the island. Or rather, there were. The other store have had to bring down their prices to stay competitive, or close their doors. Home Depot has become my go to hardware store. Their selection is decent. Their prices aren’t bad at all. I like this store a lot, but there are a few things that bother me. The plants outside arent very well maintained. Half of them are underwatered. Some of the staff goves out bad information instead of just saying they don’t know. The phone rings off the hook. I think they may be deaf to it now cause no one answers the phone.

So the customer service here is absolutely atrocious. Pay attention on your next visit just how many times the phone rings… constantly! No one ever answers the line. They’re constantly out of stock of WHATEVER you need. I hate to say it, but it definitely feels like a Guam thing because the HDs I’ve been to in the states are steps above this one. Many of the associates ignore wandering customers without asking if they need help or assistance, seem unapologetic about having customers wait, and some are just plain rude. I can’t stand seeing a reputable establishment ruined by poor customer service and obviously incompetent management. Sad, sad, sad… maybe Lowe’s would do a better job?

So having recently acquired the title of property manager I’ve been forced to face the daunting task of home repairs and upkeep. So when my handyman aka uncle tells me to go to Home Depot to pick up a half inch hose bibb so he can replace the very leaky outdoor faucet. He tells me it’s an easy fix and he can show me how to do it. I march myself to the the only Home Depot on island and discover that the parking lot is HUGE!!! Seriously, who are they expecting to go here with that many parking spots? I’m not complaining — tons of open spaces! The store is HUGE as well but I wasn’t about to go shopping for power tools and gadgets — I was on a mission to find a bibb. I found someone right away to help me locate this specific part(ordinarily I’d be enjoying shopping each aisle but today was different). He recommended a specific bibb(not too expensive and neither cheap that it’ll make you wonder, what’s wrong with it?) that was in the mid-range price and I was out of the store in less than ten minutes. That’s a personal record for me. Took the bibb home only to find out that ½″(half inch) in products made in CHINA is not a ½″ in America!!! I verified the item before I purchased it and didn’t realize it was made in China(not that there’s anything wrong with that) but when you’re talking milimeters and inches — preciseness counts. My handyman uncle tells me, «never buy Chinese items… measurements here are always off!» Lesson learned!!!(As a side note, my handyman uncle has nothing against the Chinese — for goodness sakes his son in law in Chinese) So…I still and will always love Home Depot but I would most certainly triple check where the items are made and stick to products that are tried and true in ‘Merica or else march yourself right back to that spacious lot to return mislabeled item(s). It was humbug to drive back out here in the scorching heat of Guambodia just to exchange an item that costs less than $ 5.00 but when you’re the only legit game in town it’s inevitable. Customer service was great! I came back and had keys copied as well and found the friendliest guy(a transplant from the Big Island of Hawaii). Another cool thing about this location is that they have a waiting room complete with seating, computer and free wifi!

This is very unfortunate because Home Depot has a pretty strong reputation overall. This is another example of what happens to customer service when the market is essentially cornered. I waited over 30 minutes for an associate to cut cable for me and when they found him in the break room, he stated that everyone deserves a lunch break. Another associate stated that he was frustrated with management and their inability to manage their people. I hope this review helps both the staff and the customers. Even more, I hope Lowe’s arrives on island to show people how to provide great service at a great price.

I went here tonight wih my friend for the liquid insect baits and to furnish and decorate the room. My friend is in the military and we paid with the credit card and got 10% military discount. I found more employees this time than when I came here 2 years ago which was helpful for us to ask questions while looking around. All the employees we met were kind. So I did ring the bell at the counter and we all laughed :)

Well for being an island serving the military for the most part, they are not military friendly. But I guess I am not surprised since they have no competition on they island. Anthony the store manager is flat out rude and does not even follow his own policy.(copy attached) I guess when you are so far from HD corporate, you do what ever you want. Sure not the same as the states. If you dare ask for your military discount be prepared to get a dirty look and a long wait for some one to come and approve it(about 12 min). My daughter-in-law is serving in the military here in Guam, and they have been here for almost a year, living off base,(we have finally been able to come for a visit) the home they live in need some thing fixed and being a handyman back on main land, I took her to home depot to get what they need to do the fixes and a few other things when we asked for the military discount that was a difficult production and they refused to allow for me to pay with my credit card or they would not give the discount according to their policy(Copy attached). No place on their policy did it say that(and yes she was with me). I asked for the manager, Anthony came over and his attitude and comments where who cares if she is in the military that’s our policy. I pointed out to him the items I was purchasing where not going to fit in my luggage, I even showed him my AZ drivers license. He didn’t care and said would have to pay cash for it. so what is the difference of me paying cash, his answer was it is the policy. No where on the policy does it say that. He even refused to take my Home depot credit card. Being the person I am and to make my daughter-in-laws service in the military easier on Guam I paid for it with cash. O course now it will leave me short on cash. It is a pure shame of this large company to treat military this way. The only reason I gave them the one star is for a gentleman named bob in the plumbing dept. that help us find the parts we need to fix her shower handles. Other wise I would have gave them Zero. It is not what I expected from Home Depot.

Customer service is almost non-existent in this place. If you need help with something, you’re better off trying to find the answer using the free wifi provided. Most of the employees here are too busy wasting time to assist customers. When you do manage to get an employee’s attention their lack of experience in customer service shows.

Bad customer service especially from this statesider lady employee. Asked her to help me find security lights and totally got ignored. Home Depot. No thank you. I’ll take my $ elsewhere.

Most of the time people are helpful and some times you find the lazy guy. We always spend more than we intend. They could really use more flower selection. Download the app if you are looking for something specific. Be careful though they don’t update their computer inventory all the time with the actual numbers, so if you need a lot of something back sure they hand count it for accuracy.

My landlord ordered an new dishwasher and stove to be installed and here it is 2 weeks later and I still don’t have the appliances. After complaining to the manager, we were given a delivery date and time. I’m still waiting 1 ½ hours later. I’m taking time off from my job to wait for this delivery and they still cannot make here at a scheduled time! People… if buying an appliance from Home Depot… borrow or rent a truck and pick it up yourself… this is SO not worth it!!!

First Home Depot I’ve seen with wi-fi, although connection is a bit shoty. Only giving it an A-OK rating, because of the wider selection compared to the small shops, otherwise, I’d subtract the star for the poor customer service. On several occasions, I would ask where to find an item, rather than showing me where it is, they would just point and give directions. Talk about lazy!

I have experienced better. I’m so glad there are stores on Guam that have better customer service. Customer Service is very poor here from waiting to get something from a high shelf to waiting to get your keys made to waiting to get ringed up. I would check other home centers around before coming to this store. Got it if you’re buying major appliances Home Depot is the place to go. Other than that goto the Home Centers before going here. I went to home depot to make copies of my keys three times, I had to go back three separate times to have it redone. I did not learn my lesson the first 2 times, so I went there a third time, thank you sir may I have another bad copy :|. I would recommend going to a place that have the manual key maker.

I’ve been here a few times for random projects for my car and apartment and i can tell you I find what I need everytime. I love going here and I don’t even know why. Maybe it reminds me of home or maybe I just love Home Improvement and working on cars that much? The employees don’t tend to bother you as much as the ones in the states but when you look lost they will ask you if you need help. Prices are actually really good here compared to other places on the island for similar items. I would def recommend shopping here for any projects.
