Best meal we had while in Paris. Very small place, «cute» you might say(if you say things like«whoa, cute place»… I usually don’t). A mix of patrons as we heard a few other English-speaking tables, a few French, and a couple German as well. It’s a small place, but it was still a bit worrisome that there was only one server there handling server, host, bartender, and busser duties. But my concern was unfounded — he busted his butt getting around the restaurant and provided a level of service that is uncustomary for most European restaurants(no, no, I get it… but I’m just saying, this guy was awesome). He was attentive… but not too much so(we’re not at Applebee’s in the U.S. after all), provided actual recommendations, helped translate the menu(more on that in a moment), and paced the meal well. For the English speakers: The menus are in French only, but the server spoke English and helped walk us through the parts we didn’t understand. For the more adventurous: His recommendations were great, so going with«what do you recommend?» was a winning approach. I started with a bowl of French onion soup(because why not?) — it was great. My wife(per the recommendation) had a Asian-inspired salad with sesame dressing, wontons, and grilled shrimp(awesome). I had a sea bass in a saffron sauce that was a special that night. It was over a bed of vegetables. And… it most certainly was special. My wife called it the«best fish I’ve ever eaten.» I racked my brain but had a tough time disagreeing. She had a seared tuna with a soy glaze and mashed potatoes. She was skeptical about it since, at this point, you can basically get a seared tuna dish on any random corner joint anywhere. But it was really, really good. It was good enough that I’m putting a check mark next to soy-glazed seared tuna now — I’ve done the best, so not much of a need to do that anymore. The mashed potatoes were also really well done… if you’re into that whole creamy potato and lots of butter and cream thing. We finished with a cheese plate. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t get the name of the cheese, but basically it was as if a Camembert got superpowers that made it 8x more tasty than any mortal Camembert. It was served with this stupid good fig jam that, when combined with the cheese, gave you the temporary ability to eat far beyond your stomach’s volume. Sadly, all of the above left us with no room for dessert. Though the plates we saw coming out looked awesome.

This was our last meal in Paris, and it was a great choice. I had the French onion soup, banana duck and mashed potatoes. The soup was perfect and really hit the spot on that freezing, rainy night. The duck was unique and I just loved it. The mashed potatoes had excellent texture and weren’t too creamy, which happens a lot. Everyone eating in the restaurant was speaking English — most found it on Unilocal, too — and it was fun to chat with the other patrons(the tables are pretty close together). Cozy ambience and friendly waiters who helped us translate the menu.

Went here for lunch because of the reviews it received on Unilocal.Don’t agree with the high marks. The food was insipid and the service was average. It’s a tiny space and yet we had to flag down our waitress to put in our order and ask for our bill. Ridiculous really, since she could take two steps from the bar and be at our table. How do you explain away ignoring your patrons when you’re practically next to them?

A truly splendid little dinner spot. Quite small and quaint, so I imagine it might fill up quickly, though was relatively quiet when we visited late on a Thursday. Mix of locals and a couple foreigners like us. The appeal of this place is it’s a little off the beaten path of the more bustling La Marais — expect a lower-key vibe and charm in spades. Menu is in French but the waiter was very kind to walk us through it in English. Entrees here are traditional — had the escargot while the gf had french onion soup. Both were outstanding! Mains are french-asian fusion(heads up if you’re not expecting it!) My duck breast had a sesame glaze that was very nice, but if you’re looking for strictly traditional takes this is perhaps not the spot. For dessert we shared the Crème Brulee which we both agreed was one of the best we’d had. Great wine list as well. Bet we’d definitely return on a future visit!

They don’t speak English in this smaller, busy restaurant but they speak the language of amazing food fluently! We went in there, couldn’t read the menu or speak to the staff but had an amazing meal. My boyfriend just pointed to what someone else was eating and had that. I can guarantee anything you eat, you will not be disappointed. Portions are large and you feel like a local eating here listening to all the patrons having a great meal!

The best little Bistro in Paris, food here is amazing and good price, we tried French onion soup, escargot, seared tuna and risotto with scallops, it seems the most popular choice that everyone takes, but I’m sure other dishes are delicious as well, we actually came here twice while visiting Paris so highly recommend

Great place to eat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Found in a nice quiet corner this was the first place we ate in Paris. Both my husband and I had the special of the day, mine a white fish with veggies and my husband the filet migon with pasta we followed it with a dessert of strawberry crème pie(tart) and a cheese plate with cherry marmalade and salad. Great authentic French food! Very delicious lunch portion were perfect! Staff was nice and tried to communicate with us the best she could, the bartender did speak English too.

On the recommendation of Unilocal and our Airbnb hostess, we came here for a weeknight dinner. Located in a quiet side street, Le Temps’ friendly and accommodating staff, deliciously authentic French food, and a charming atmosphere made for a lovely experience. First off, the menu is entirely in French(no touristy English option available), but the waiters spoke English quite well and were able to explain some of the more obscure menu options. They were also very accommodating of my vegetarian friend — though they don’t have vegetarian options on the menu every night, they will do a nice vegetarian platter for you. We absolutely loved the veal that had been braised for 10 hours(!) served with a wonderful side of mashed potatoes — the sauce was savory and rich, and the meat was fall-apart tender. For dessert, I ordered the crème brûlée — it was silky with strong vanilla flavor and a delicate caramelized crust. The wine selection was also quite good — limited selection, but decently priced and the two bottles we tried went down(a little too) easy. For me, what made Le Temps so special was its ability to invoke nostalgia for romantic Paris of old, from the superbly executed traditional dishes to the charming waitstaff to the old-world bistro décor. I would recommend it to families and couples alike who seek a quieter, quintessential French experience.

It was my last night in France. My friends and I stayed at the 4th district. We decided to have our last dinner in this place. This restaurant has a strong tourist presence due to Unilocal. It still has locals and the French ambiance regardless. I was quite impressed with the menu to be honest. The menu is fusion of Asian and French. Free bread for appetizers and that’s a given since it’s France. For appetizers, we ordered escargots and tuna tartare with mango. I liked the tartare more than the escargots because of the balance of the fishy-ness and the sweetness of the mango. It’s a good mix of taste. The escargots were salty and they were already out of their shells which took out the fun of eating them. I rather have them in their shells and fish them out. I dipped some bread on the sauce too to clean the plate like a European. For my entrée, I got the duck with banana and mashed potatoes on the side. When the plate was put in front of me, I didn’t exactly expect it to look that way. The duck was on top of banana leaves with bananas on the side. I was very confused but this is the fusion they put on the menu. Well, the place was very good. The heaviness of the duck breast balanced out with the bananas. The sauce of the duck was on the sweet side which was good with the bananas I was also quite surprised that the sweetness of the bananas didn’t conflict with the sweet sauce of the duck. The mashed potatoes was rich and creamy.

Perfect neighborhood bistrot which sits in a lovely corner and looks just like someone’s house. Many locals just having a drink at the bar. It was a warm day and we chose to sit outdoors. We were lucky with no reservations made earlier and managed to get seats. Started with a entrée of the day — gazpacho of asparagus and rocket, served with a lump of minced cheese with pine nuts. Quite lovely for the hot day but quite under seasoned. The fresh salt grinder on the table came to good use. Bread were served together with the entrée. Butter was generously given when asked. French butter and bread is just so good. Mains were lamb for my partner and another daily special — grilled swordfish(half cooked) for me. Both were served with a generous quenelle of mash and some vegetables. Lamb is sous vide /confit for 10 hours and was mighty soft and the jus was delicious. The fish was cooked just perfect, with a tangy, sweet and buttery sauce to boot. Too full after these courses(I blame the hot day!) to have dessert.): Prices were so reasonable. € 42 for all three dishes !

Ate here the first night we were in Paris. Was looking for a nice warm bistro and was sure I wasn’t going to have any luck, but sure enough, I found this place, we went in there without reservations and were taken complete care of. The waiter was one of the best waiters I would ever have on our trip to Paris. Sadly, I did not ask his name as I was a bit out of it with the time difference, but was fantastic. We had the escargot, and then steak frits, and everything was freaking delicious. The people there were seriously French, and they were so kind and polite. Next time I am in Paris, I will definitely go back again.

A charming, countrified setting mere blocks from the Bastille and in the hipster/gay Le Marais, Les Temps des Cerises is a warm and welcoming choice for a date(or, as it happens, a rendezvous for three NYC friends with the good fortune to meet up in Paris on separate travel plans). First, let’s put the«rude French people» stereotype to rest. Everyone I’ve met over a week’s time has been friendly and warm, even when I’m butchering their native tongue. The young staff here was incredibly warm and helpful, guiding us through the menu, giving us terrific service, and even recommending a place to go after dinner for the best cocktails in Paris(Sherry Butt, right around the corner, a definite winning choice). There were mostly locals here, too, a nice experience after more tourist saturated places nearer to Les Halles or the Champs Elysee. The food was updated traditional. The onion soup(yes, a boring choice but I love it) was faintly sweet tasting and piping hot, the cheese and tomato tarte was multilayered and textured, my friends’ scallop and risotto or duck with banana(yes, it’s true) dishes were nicely balanced, well prepared, and hearty. The only slight miss was the tarte au citron for dessert. The crust didn’t fit well with the fruity filling and the orange-ish flavor was underwhelming and lacked tartness. We scored an easy reservation for Friday night at 8:30p, had to adjust it — without any problems from the restaurant — to 10:30p, and had a wonderful time.

This place was charming as heck! I recently checked it out during a trip to Paris, thanks to all the great Unilocal reviews.(Side note: I’m never traveling without Unilocal.) It’s a very cozy place — the tables are very close together, and you may end up sharing your intimate meal with other people. But I had a great time anyway. Just know that if you require a little extra space to get around, this might not be the best stop for you. We had a perfectly sized small bottle of wine. I ordered the boeuf bourguignon, and my husband ordered a mango tuna appetizer kind of a thing. We had some fresh little radishes set out on the table for us to munch on, as well as some nice bread and butter. The food was AMAZING. Really, honestly, truly delicious. Something to watch out for is that no amount of high school French could have gotten me through this menu. They don’t necessarily use the most obvious words for things. I took four years of French in high school, and know my basic foods pretty well, but the menu was almost unreadable to me. A lot of the words seemed to be very specific to how something is prepared, or a word referring to a particular cut of meat, something like that. Prepare to either ask a lot of questions or use some kind of translation app to figure out what you want, if you’re not an awesome French speaker. The staff does seem used to working with tourists, though, so if you have questions, you’ll be fine. I did my ordering in French, but had to switch to English to ask some questions and get clarification on things; but the servers had no problem with any of it. This is a great place to go if you’re visiting France and want to have a cozy, positively delicious meal while you’re there.

Nice, small, slightly funky neighborhood place. There are some Asian overtones in the recipes which makes it interesting. I enjoyed very much the small but warm room. You are shoulder to shoulder with all the other guests, but everyone is having a good time and it feels very comfortable. The food is good with some non-standard asiany items(crispy shrimp salad was very nice) to go along with some standard items(boeuf bourguignon, which was under seasoned with chewy beef and was kind of boring). Tuna Tartare with mango was excellent. The tomato/mozzarella/ham napoleon was also very good. We enjoyed dinner here, more for the overall feel of the place than for the food which was fine but not outstanding. Pricing was good, so if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a nice dinner I’d go.

If you’re looking for a cozy brasserie in heart of the Marais then look no further. This place has all the charm of a French brasserie and the feel of a neighborhood hangout. It is truly a gem. Because of great reviews, the prices are on the high side when it comes to neighborhood restaurants and the clientele on any given night are predominantly English speaking tourists. The service is usually friendly but I have seen and felt some of the servers get a little cold when they start getting a little busier and everyone is speaking English. The crunchy shrimp salad is my favorite starter. It has 2 cocktail shrimp cut in half and served on a small bowl of crunchy cabbage and Asian noodles with ginger sesame dressing. That and their bowl of French onion soup make for the perfect lunch. Their main plate winners are the matelote(fish stew in a pot), their steak, their scallops and risotto, and their tartare. You can’t lose with any of those dishes. I would not suggest the burger. It is nothing special. Make sure you leave room for dessert. They have a great selection which are all pretty good. My favorite by far has been one with shaved almonds on top of whipped cream and a fluffy and rich chocolate. Sorry but I forgot the name… More updates to come!

Excellente surprise !
