Food and service both deserve the 5 star rating! This was extremely local for us as we were staying across the road, so we thought after reading a few reviews we’d give it a try. Well, it absolutely blew us away! The service was amazing and the waiter who served us was incredibly polite and patient with our extreme novice level of French. We started with cocktails, a Cosmopolitan and Mojito — both created perfectly with some complimentary popcorn. We decided to order a bottle of wine for the meal and I was very happy about Sauvignon Blanc being on the menu as this is my favourite and I never seem to find it on menu’s in Paris(I may be going to the wrong places). For mains I ordered the Spicy Tomato pasta(penne) and my partner ordered the bolognaise. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and it arrived in good time. The same opinion for our dessert! I ordered the Tarte Tatin and my partner ordered the Crème Caramel and both were divine! We were so impressed we are going back for dinner this evening. Definitely trying the pizza tonight — freshly made, stone oven baked and you can see it all happen. Right up my street! Merci beaucoup!

After a long day enjoying Paris, the GF and I decided to head back to the hotel and have dinner at one of the establishments by First Hotel Paris. We opted to stop by Royal Cambronne, looking forward to the wine and café fare. It was a perfect night so we decided to dine al fresco under an awning to enjoy the sights, smells, and sounds of Paris. Graves Bordeaux, 50 cl [13.50 Euros = $ 17.33] We went with bordeaux, which wasn’t too dry, with nice fruit and light spice notes. Not bad for under $ 20USD for a carafe! Gratinee a l’Oignon [7.50 Euros = $ 9.63] French onion soup The GF decided to start off with … you guessed it, French onion soup. It was surprisingly lighter than any I’ve had in America, where it’s typically richer, with a salty stock. I appreciated the depth of flavor despite the lightness of the soup. This was all covered by a crusty baguette and plenty of gruyère to coat it all. Nice. Escargots a la Bourguignone par 6 [8.80 Euros = $ 11.29] 6 snails in Burgundy sauce For my starter, I decided to go a completely different route, albeit an expected one for me. Although I’ve had escargot before, I’ve never had the pleasure of enjoying them in Paris so was looking forward to it! The texture of the escargot was particularly nice, similar to claims and redolent with intense garlic, parsley, and butter. Before our entrees, we received some soft, pita-like bread as well. FYI — France definitely has the best dijon mustard, which was perfect with the bread. The only thing better than their mustard? Their butter. Entrecôte [22.50 Euros = $ 28.88] Ribeye, fries The GF decided to go with the steak frites and ribeye was on offer here. Keep in mind, in Paris, order your steaks a temperature above what you’re used to in the States. The GF requested medium-well, and received her steak medium, which was a bit chewy for her. And while it seemed under-seasoned at first, it was better when paired with the accompanying bernaise. The fries were crisp and the salad had a light balsamic dressing. Confit de Canard [14.90 Euros = $ 19.12] Duck confit, tagliatelle pasta I decided to go with duck confit, which was perfectly cooked. Crisp skin lent its way to plenty of well-seasoned, tender duck. Instead of fries, I decided to try their tagliatelle pasta, which was nicely al dente and came with a Parmesan butter sauce. Not exactly a classic pairing on my end, but delicious nonetheless. Royal Cambronne offered a nice, relaxing meal to end a great day in Paris. The GF didn’t enjoy her steak as much as I enjoyed my duck, but both our apps and the wine was definitely on point. Better yet? The atmosphere. It was a gorgeous Parisian night, with a live band playing Michael Jackson. Everyone was in a good mood — patrons and staff alike. At one point in the meal, a couple got up and started dancing, with everyone clapping to the beat. Only in Paris.

We had dessert at Le Royal Cambronne and it was very good. The tarte tatin was huge and so was the crème brûlée. Both were very good value for money. We were quick to be seated and served, however it took the waiter a long while to deliver our bill after we had asked for it. Also he was quite clumsy when delivering food to another table and hit me in the head twice with the serving tray. Service could be improved but otherwise I would recommend.

Food here is very good. My boyfriend and I got onion soup and Margarita pizza each time we went, we couldn’t get enough. The quality if service varied day to day, depending on who was serving us. One guy got annoyed that we were trying to order in french and one girl liked that we were ordering in french. Tip: make sure you are dressed nice. Delta lost our luggage for 3 days and all we had to wear were pajama type clothes, we got charged € 8.50 for a limonade!

If you find yourself staying at the First Hotel on Garibaldi, wanting a cup of coffee & a pastry early in the morning(e.g. 6am), Le Royal Cambronne is open & just a few steps away. Make your way up to the bar & order directly from the bartender and find yourself a seat(or stay standing at the bar). They also accept American Express.

Great pizza, terrible reheated desserts. Horrible long service! On our last night in Europe, ESP in Paris, after 3 weeks, my new fiancé and I went for pizza and a dessert. The pizza was great and they had great oil for crust dipping. The apple pie was dry and obviously cooked and reheated before serving. Our waiter, although helpful, was unintentive, as we waited nearly 45 minutes for our check as he greeted new people in the door and served other parties. He even forgot my espresso and charged me for it(another waiter finally brought the check out for us). I nearly left without paying.

Chose this place for a cup of coffee because they had outdoor seating with sun. Was a bit confused at the French menu and finally followed the server’s recommendation for a Café allongé, because it was a «big cup» of coffee. Turned out to be a regular cup of black coffee with a little cookie on the side. No milk or cream offered. :(At least we had a nice view of Place Cambronne square while enjoying the morning sunshine.

A fuir.
