Love this place! When I studied abroad in Paris, this restaurant was a couple blocks away from my school so I would stop by after class, get drinks and eat dinner. It’s a very comfortable and warm environment. The staff is really friendly and fun! When my friends visited, I loved taking them here. I’m not huge on change, so when it comes to food, when I find something I love to eat I order it over and over again. I always ordered«La Pre aux Clercs» salad. The salmon and avocado were very fresh and the romaine lettuce was crisp. I had never had a poached egg on my salad before, but I loved that addition to this salad — It gave the salad a more rich flavor. There’s a light vinaigrette drizzled over the salad. It also comes with small pieces of toast that I dipped in the crème fraîche sauce. Just writing this makes me crave this salad!

A few years later and I’m back. My friend who I was with really liked this restaurant and asked if we could eat here last night. We sat inside and had excellent service. I asked for some vegetables and rice since I’m a vegetarian and was craving them! They were very sweet and not put off by my request. The vegetables were mostly onions, but I appreciated the effort. I am not sure what my friend ordered, but she devoured it and proclaimed it «fantastique!» Again, service was great!

This restaurant had the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. The food was fine, but it took two and a half hours to get to us. People who had come in after us were asking for the check before we had even received our meals. Totally incompetent staff, completely disrespectful. Can not emphasize how much I did not enjoy my dining experience.

My wife and I loved Le Pre Aux Clercs. It was comfortable, and casual. While visiting Paris we spent 3 nights here sitting at the bar socializing. Our French was limited, yet we had a great time communicating with the bartender. He was teaching us different words, and phrases with broken English and broken French. It was a good time. They had a decent selection of wine and cheese. We mostly just had snacks and salads as we were working on our wine hangovers. The bartender let us buy wine to take home as well. It was a 20 dollar bottle of good wine, he discounted it for us since we were visiting Paris for our honeymoon– we got it for 10 bucks. Cute spot.

How do you serve flavorless ‘French fries’ in France? The beef and chicken were over cooked and the bread tasted like cardboard. The house wine(le coup de couer) was delicious.

We came here twice during our visit to Paris. I thought the food was delicious. I got the salmon the first time and the roasted chicken the second time. Both entrees were delicious. The house wine was not good at all which is why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. My dad loved his onion soup. We got the sorbet and crème brûlée for dessert and both were delicious. The service was very nice both times and very accommodating.

After a long walk along the Seine, I was walking back to my apartment and saw this place. My french is extremely limited, but thankfully the waiter spoke perfect English and he was really nice. So I stayed and ordered dinner. I got the chicken and mashed potatoes and a glass of house red. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. Right then I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be all that fresh or great tasting, but I dug in and started eating… what else could I do? The chicken was dry and over cooked and the mashed potatoes tasted more like the kind you would get from a box. The chicken did come with the sauce it was cooked in and that sauce was real tasty, if only they had given more of the sauce it would have made the meal better. The house wine was good, the best part of the meal. The service was fantastic, the waiter very friendly and attentive. I would consider giving this place a second try and order something else, however since I am only here for 2 weeks, there are too many other restaurants to experience.

Have a drink here, DON’T EATHERE! I wish I had turned my phone on(it was close to dying) before I had ordered and ate here. While the atmosphere was nice and dining alone was comfortable, the food was terrible. I ordered the scallops and they were fishy and small and the basmati rice was crunchy(like when I cook it). I’m paying for it now as I think I have food poisoning!

Got their grilled sword-fish & duck special entrée. I liked my fish, but hubby’s duck was chewy. Service was prompt. I loved how one of the servers was able to clean, set up tables, AND take orders all in one round. Amazing!

Stuff felt like it came out of a can. French onion soup cheese was odd and different and the onions weren’t cooked. My chicken in a cheese sauce wasn’t awful but very bland. On the other hand, waiters were pleasant and efficient. Prices are normal for the area. Great location, but I think there are better choices nearby.

My wife had onion soup, it was made with sliced cheese that looked like it was microwaved! Tasted like soup out of a box, a disgrace for the location this place is at. I never heard the end of it!

Not so friendly waitress and just probably needs to stop clubbing at night. I think she took advantage of us since we just landed and just wanted coffee and breakfast. She said they don’t have menus(weird) and to tell us what we wanted. i got a croissant and a coffee and my friend just wanted a ham sandwich. So after a nice long 20 minute way we see the waitress come back with a baguette and grocery and came with our food. The bill was huge, 4.50 Eur for a cup of coffee and 3 Eur for a croissant. It was the most expensive breakfast ever and it wasn’t even good or ok.

After a long afternoon of walking, shopping and enjoying a nice Paris afternoon, we ended up stopping by Le Pre Aux Clercs for a drink. This experience did not go as we had imagined. I saw the Stella Artois sign outside and thought: «A Stella sounds good right about now». So we went inside, the interior was kinda cool with a funky indoor tree thing in the middle of the room, but the service… oh the service… The waitress comes up, I ask for a «Stella», she replies«Amstel»? No… a «Stella». She proceeds to ask me the size and I think all is good. She returns a bit later with an Amstel… I was a little upset because not only did I clearly say Stella twice, she still screwed it up(all of this conversation is in french btw). So I proceed to drink the Amstel, I mean, I’m not going to flag her down to get another beer. I’m bitter because its the wrong beer and I was a little tired from the afternoon, when she comes walking behind me and drops her entire tray onto my head and back. That… pissed me off. Not only did she bring me the wrong drink, she now just dropped everything onto my head… Yeah… not very happy at this point. We immediatly ask for the bill, I’m thinking my beer better be free… it wasn’t. So I get to pay 8 € 20 for a Amstel, 5 € 60 for a cappuccino and a tray of crap on my head. Oh and apparently you need to have a bill of 15 € to use the carte blue(we were at 13 € 80) so… now I am just thinking we should get up and leave… but we didn’t and we even ended up having to tip her 1 € 20 to get to 15 €. Worst beer experience I have ever had. This place has been added to my blacklist.

Dressing your tongue with the taste of traditional French food comes at a price. A delicious, mouth watering, desire to come back for more price. Everything on the menu at Pré aux Clercs sounded lovely, but we settled on the French onion soup to start and share which I have to say was the best I have ever had. Then the roast duck with rosemary potatoes and grilled swordfish, then on to the crème brûlée. If the French do anything right with desserts it is crème brûlée. The crack was satisfying and the inside a creamy delight. Pré aux Clercs is definitely worth a try if you are on a budget, or an every day splurge if the euros don’t matter. Magnific!

My friends and I happened on this place while enjoying a walk around the neighborhood of Musee d’Orsay. It was getting late and our bellies were getting hungry so we spontaneously dropped in on this restaurant for a quick bite. I am seriously in LOVE with Paris and this was my 2nd trip here in a month. The first time was LOVE at first sight but this 2nd trip almost broke us up. I won’t go into details but some lovely French gentleman ran off with my purse on the train ride into Paris. So as you can imagine I was quite saddened by the loss of all of my favorite things in my purse but dinner here was so enjoyable & pleasant that I forgot my sorrows. My friend and I ate a chicken dish with frites while our other friend enjoyed steak with frites. The inside décor of this restaurant was warm and friendly and very green. Service was attentive and the food was very good. We had such a great time here talking, enjoying our meal, and surrounding environment. I believe we had chocolate soufflé for dessert which was amazing as well. If you get a chance to eat here, please do so!

Nice café in St Germain at the corner of Jacob and Bonaparte. They happily moved a table to make room for our party of 5. Service was good, surroundings nice — big, open windows onto the street. They had several types of biere pression which was perfect for us since it was an extremely hot day, and we needed something to soothe our throats. They’ve got quite a menu of salads, and the folks in our group proclaimed them delicious. I had a massive piece of grilled tuna with pesto and delicious asparagus. The tuna was cooked a bit more than I like though. Although the food wasn’t cheap — EUR12-EUR14ish — the portions were pretty substantial. Didn’t get into the wine. It was busy when we were there for Monday lunch, so I’m guessing it’s probably busy all the time. Great lunch spot.

Fairly pleasant and bustling bistro in the 6eme, with fairly reasonably priced food, and fairly extortionate wine. I actually saw some tourists go back to the bar and check their bill: EUR34 for 3 glasses of wine?! This can’t be right! Well — if you ask for wine they don’t ask you what type, which is pretty bad form. I’d mark them down a touch if it were not for the fact that it was about the best rose I’d ever drunk. So, 4 stars!

I like Le Pré Aux Clercs. It’s nothing really special for Paris but it’s just a nice and comfortable place to get a drink or a snack(you can make a meal here but don’t make it a serious meal, it’s not that kind of place). If your expectations are right you’ll really enjoy this. My fun time for Le Pré Aux Clercs is at 7am or so, in the dark of a Winter morning. I’ll go out for a run along the Seine(nothing like being almost alone under the Eiffel Tower, running in the pre-morning dark; it’s magic, like no place else) and on the way back to home/hotel, I’ll stop at the bar for a coffee. At that hour, it’s me, a couple of Parisian garbagemen or street sweepers with their truck parked in front, a couple of construction workers on their way to work, maybe a woman walking her dog and stopping for a quick coffee, all of us at the bar. See, this is a Parisian neighborhood hangout before the St. Germain crowd takes over later in the day. I think that’s pretty fine.
