Food very average at best. Flavourless minestrone A salad that couldn’t decide if it was mozzarella and tomato or a Caesar salad while achieving neither A pizza based on cardboard There are so many better places to eat

A éviter.

A éviter!

Never expect to eat Italian x3 times in a row in Paris but the food at Le Jardin du Marais is ÓHSOGOOD that I ate here three times over the duration of my 10-day stay in Marais, Paris! We discovered this place by chance on the first night when I was craving for something meaty and hearty to takeaway but were too tired to have a proper sit-down dinner. We decided on Italian as this place was packed on a Thursday night and had their Regina pizza(cheese, pepperoni, ham and mushrooms) cos 10 Euro only. Even though I was full, I couldn’t stop myself! This pizza was amazing! No, wait, amazing is an understatement. The cheese was oozy, the mushrooms abundant, the crust thickness of the normal kind(not overdone like some places), the pepperoni strewn generously all over the pizza! I purposely left some for breakfast the next morning and guess what? The pizza taste just as good the next day! 2 thumbs up! 2 days later, we had dinner there on a Saturday night. I had a plate of normal Spaghetti Bolognaise — I deliberately ordered the traditional Italian spaghetti to see if they had the same high standards that I came to expect. True enough, I wasn’t disappointed! As a self-declared true blue fan of pizzas and pasta, this embodies the Italian traditional dish to a T! Many many thumbs and toes up! So, for our second last day dinner, we decided to dine here again for memory sake. I had the spaghetti again and he had the Carbonara. Both didn’t disappoint. I tried the Carbonara and the viscosity of the cream was just right, pasta done al dente, and the ingredients was sufficient to keep you satisfied. Unlike some cream-based pasta, you can feel extremely full after a plate of Carbonara but this feels just right. The owner and the waitress was friendly. And at the beginning of Spring, the temperature was cooling enough to sit at the sidewalk along Marais and indulge in some amazing Italian fare with a glass of wine in hand. Another recommendation — four cheese pizza. I didn’t try this but the couple at the next table were ardent fans of this recommendation and like us, came back for consecutive visits!

Served me what I can only describe as pickled gristle. Had a only a few bites well the rest of the table cleaned their plates because they were starving when the server came to clean the plates did not even ask why I had barely touched my plate. One of the worse meals I have ever had and has tainted a trip to Paris.

I walked into this restaurant because they advertised they had take out. The pizza was great — something I wasn’t sure I’d find in Paris. We’ll be ordering from them again during our stay here!
