Service was good but the seafood wasn’t that fresh not that good, this restaurant is little too pricy. So far just OK not too impressed

We stopped by as we were shopping in the area without realizing this was a fancy place. Nevertheless the food was pretty good. I had the steak and my husband had the cod. Both were good but the cod with risotto was better. The service was good as well however they don’t speak mush English. Overall I’d recommend this place but it is a bit pricey.

Food was Ok but the pricing was too high for the quality of the food. There are other nearby choices and I recommend you look a little further towards the opera area or the grand Blvd. for great alternatives.

Ate here for our last meal on a whim in Paris and had a wonderful time. The waiter was super friendly and was happy to speak English with us and practice some French. We both had steak and fries which were very good. Would be happy to eat here again.

Most restaurants close by 10:30pm in Paris. Le Grand Café was one of the few by the Opera House that was open around midnight. The food was just fair and the price is extremely high. Just be aware when you eat there late at night. There are other options near by that cost less.

Typical French café. I had a 3 course lunch(29.90EUR) the food was overall good. The dessert was slightly too sugary for my taste for a fruit salad. Although the place was pretty busy, the service was good and fast. Thanks Michel!

Staying nearby at the W Opera, we found this place by chance. Truly excellent Oeufs Brouilles. Slow cooked, buttery and decadent. The brioche and pain were excellent as well.

After a long day of running around the city and realizing I hadn’t eaten all day, I decided to start browsing menus as I walked by restaurants. I ended up settling on Le Grand Café simply due to the menu and the fact it seemed to have a decent amount of people inside. Upon entry, I was given a chance to check my coat and was given a great table facing the sidewalk(great for people watching). I went with the express menu which offers an entrée and main course for $ 22.99e or entrée, main course, and dessert for 29.99e with two choices for each item. I went with the cauliflower soup to start which was pretty good. My main course was veal with potatoes; about ½ of my veal seemed undercooked and bright red. My dessert was a delicious crème brûlée. Aside from the meat in my main dish, everything was pretty good.

It’s open 24⁄7 seven days a week, so if you are ever stuck for a place to go on a Sunday, this is a safe bet for decent food if you are starving and your flight just landed at midnight. The interior is classically art deco and it’s been renovated, so it looks a bit fresher. I’ve been coming here almost as long as I’ve been coming to Paris. It’s not my favorite restaurant, but I come just to soak in the atmosphere. The food is not spectacular, but it is good, and the prices are reasonable, with menus of two courses for less than 25 Euros($ 30US). The gazpacho with espelette pepper was a refreshingly cool way to whet our appetites, with a touch of heat from the pepper that gave the soup a nice zing. I could have had two bowls of this with some baguette and been perfectly happy. I chose a rose colored trout over couscous which had accents of apricots, green onions, pine nuts, and raisins in a buerre blanc sauce. I found the accompaniments a bit sweet and the sauce a bit lackluster, but the fish was good and service was excellent. We walked in without a reservation, but if you are eating during regular Parisian meal times or want to sit on the patio during a sunny day, it’s best to reserve either online or with a phone call.

Ate here on the recommendation of our hotel’s concierge after a late arrival from the USA. We were tired and wanted simple local fare. Le Grand Café des Capucines was not quite what we expected but it pleasantly filled the bill. Excellent onion soup and veal onglet for me and a vegetable tarte and nicely prepared trout for my wife. The service was excellent. The décor is a bit overdone but this is Paris after all.

The absolute worst Paris has to offer. If your options are i) go hungry, or(ii) eat at this amateur hour, Parisian clip joint you will be happier with a decision of going to bed with out eating. Filthy dirty kitchen and restrooms. I had food poisoning from the lobster, and the steak my friend had was like shoe leather(non chewable). Very low grade food quality and the place is dirtiest restaurant I have ever been in. The carpet is sticky to walk on. Pass on this one!

A lot of the places around here have set times for their coffees and teas in the afternoons before they set up for dinner, and after searching for a while, we were able to get a table at Le Grand Café at around 5pm. As a tourist, I loved that this place offers free postcards(with a picture of the restaurant)– I love writing to people on postcards that features places I’ve visited on my trip. The wait wasn’t very long, and they sat my aunt, my cousin, and I at a table for four in the corner where we can look outside. The décor in the restaurant is lovely in red and gold. The food looks good, but unfortunately we were here for coffees and teas. My aunt and cousin both ordered some kind of hot coffee drink, whereas I didn’t want to be up all night so I opted for the earl grey. I was a little disappointed that my tea wasn’t a loose leaf tea, and instead, they presented me with a package. They included a sugary amuse bouche with my tea set. It’s a lovely presentation. The ladies’ restroom was pretty, and it smelled like they perfumed the place. It’s a pleasant surprise for me. I enjoyed the service here. They even offered coat and stroller check at this restaurant.(My cousin brought her baby boy with us). A Japanese couple seated next to us asked if they would pay at the cash register or at the table. The answer is that you pay at your table.

Wow. If you like seafood this is a great place. It was about a 15 minute walking distance from our hotel and we were meeting a friend who picked it… a. Ambiance — In the Opera Area and next door to Gaumont Theater, this place is a bar brasserie and is known for their seafood specialities. Outdoor seating, quaint, large enough to handle all size parties, this is a great feeling place… 5 Star. b. Service — We had reservations and so we fumbled our way through our minimal french and went to the table. Our friend that made the reservation was late but they took care of us anyway. We got assistance from the waiter on ordering, so from the maitre’d to the waiter and to the person pouring water, I say they were all very awesome. 5 star. c. Food — Starters was all seafood!!! We had the Plateau Royale, a huge hunking garbage can lid filled with ice and pounds of shrimp, clam, oyster, whelks, and plenty of things I could not imagine the name. All tasty and full of flavor. — 5 star — Bread — Nice, baguettes and sticks of butter. Doesn’t get better than this. — Steak Tartare — No better way to finish off the seafood than to have some tartare. It was pleasantly spicy, full of flavor, great consistency and overall just melted in my mouth. — Bugs Bunny — My colleague had Saddle of Rabbit and that looked really good too. I think the best taste is in the back /saddle anyway… Overall, from the ambiance, service to the food, this place is great and will not disappoint. One of my highlights in Paris.

I give this place a solid 3.5. I’m rounding up because it is open 24 hours and the food is actually very decent in the middle of the night! Where else can you get fresh grilled salmon after midnight that actually tastes good? Many of the locals were ordering steak and french fries at that hour too and they seemed to be enjoying their meals. The wine selection was great as well, and we really enjoyed the house red wine.

Ok, you are near the Opera District, walking along the street checking out the local talent and your stomach sounds the alarm. What to you do? Le Grand Café des Capucines is the answer. Gaudy, over-the-top-interior and streetside cramped tables to continue to check out the local talent, but far more relaxed. Had finger food and cappuchino, what else since it is the name of the street? Spent about a lazy hour gawking — good stuff.

My mother wanted to try this place since it was near our hotel and because she was craving seafood. For our dinner we ordered 5 items: 1) Buttered Mussels — The mussels they gave us were huge and perfectly cooked. When they brought the dish out, the buttery sauce was still bubbling. So good! 2) Escargot — The snails were perfectly matched with the pesto like sauce. Wished I had order more of these. 3) Foei Gras — You get a giant slab of duck foie gras. The foie gras itself was very good; rich, buttery, and creamy. 4) Vegetable Gazpacho — I’m not a veggie person so I did not like this dish that much. For those who do not know what a gaspazho is, it is basically a cold tomato soup. 5) Lamb — The most tender and juiciest roasted lamb I have ever eaten. A must-order. The waiters here are awesome. The flamboyant waiters that I had were constantly smiling and making jokes with us. I can honestly say that they made the whole dinner a 5 star experience. We all left Le Grand Café with full bellies and good spirits. I would definitely want to come back again if I’m in the area!

A part ça, not bad.

We were walking all over Paris and didn’t want to be constraint with time therefore; we decided not to make dinner reservations to have more freedom. The hotel staff suggested Le Grand Café as the only place where we could have a nice dinner without reservation. The staff at the Restaurant did a great job as we also had a constraint to eat within an hour. We had fresh muscles, oysters and seafood and were very appreciative of their service and least but not last we enjoyed their wine selection.
