We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Aviatic in Paris very much. We arrived early in the morning, so our room wasn’t ready yet, be we were able to leave our luggage in a secure area. When arriving back at night — after walking around in Paris all day — we couldn’t wait to crash into our bed and never ever move again. Because we hadn’t seen our room before, we didn’t know exactly what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised! The room we had looked great, nice decorations and design, was of decent nice and best of all: had a huge bed! Cause what’s the one thing you want after a day of sightseeing? A comfortable place to sleep! And they delivered. Apart from that, the rest of the room was nice too. There was a closet, some extra pillows and a small desk. We did not opt for the(buffet) breakfast, cause of the price(13 euros). Instead though you could go to one of the many bakeries or supermarkets down the road for a nice croissant and some coffee. The hotel is very conveniently located: close to Montparnasse station and three subway stations. So you’ll be staying in an area that is not so touristy, but that does have nice restaurants and so on. Just what we were looking for. One downside was the noise from the street, even though it is not such a busy street, the sounds can bother you in the morning. And in our room the little door that was supposed to prevent water from the shower leaking onto the bathroom door… well, didn’t work. Lots of wet towels etc, pool party, etc. We notified the desk upon check out and they said they’d get maintenance to look into it. So overall I’d definitely recommend staying here.

I’m giving this hotel a four, for location, and room accommodation, but not a five, since the front desk personal wasn’t always accommodating. It didn’t help that taxi’s and trains were on strike. First, the historical aspect of this hotel is so very charming, that you can’t help but feel you’ve jumped back in Parisian time – a simpler life. If you’re comfortable with the Metro, this is your hotel. There is a stop just a few blocks away that will take you anywhere in Paris. There’s also some wonderful restaurants in the neighborhood. We ordered the Pizza Girl(across the street) twice after our feet gave out! Also, on the corner is Café Brasserie, which was wonderful each time we ate there. We had a room on the 4th floor facing Rue de Vaugirard. The street was busy, but, once we closed windows, we heard nothing. We did hear planes taking off at night from Orly Airport, and it’s very loud. However, it didn’t affect our rest. Just be aware. They have a huge tub, and I was soaking every day on return and loved it. But the tub is VERY slippery and deep, difficult to get in and out off. Do take a small shower mat for safety. The hotel offers a light breakfast, of cheese, ham, various breads, croissants, juices, a very modern cappuccino machine that made wonderful coffee. Bed was comfortable, extra pillows and blankets in closet. Great maid service. Clean in rooms. Stairwells smell a bit moldy because of age, so if you have allergies, avoid these areas. They use perfume diffusers throughout the hotel which is problematic for asthmatics. Elevator/lift was fast but small(3 people). Charming sitting room, but needs dusting around floorboards. Wine, juice and peanuts offered around 6 – 6:30PM, but only one bottle, of white and rose. How two bottles of wine in a country famous for wine constitute an entire hotel guest list, is a Parisian mystery. If you want wine in the evening, buy a bottle. It’s not worth the hassle of going downstairs to empty bottles. Air conditioning works, and it was hot this year in mid June. You don’t need to know French in this hotel, but it would help if you try with greetings. Don’t expect much extra help. There was a phone problem, and they never responded to requests for repair. They gave us another guest’s room key. Very disturbing. They moved us to another room 10 mins after we unpacked our first day(and we were dog-arse tired and I was dealing with a hip injury). No offer to help with moving all our luggage again. They did send a bottle of champagne in apology. They had no solutions to train and cab strikes. Would answer a question once, but would turn away if you didn’t understand. Other reviewers were happy with the front desk, so this might have just been our issue. It was a unique hotel but our next stay, we’ll venture out to one that can offer more assistance when problems arise.

A very nice little hotel in a great area on the Rive Gauche. I was impressed by how extremely clean the rooms and bathrooms were — small, but VERY clean. The breakfasts were very nice, though you pay for the full spread(only one hot drink and a croissant is included with your room). The staff was very friendly and cheerfully took the ice pack for my husbands insulated diabetes medicine tote bag and froze it for me every night. The only weird thing(important for elderly travelers like us) is that they don’t have a bell-hop, so we got a slight argument when we were ready to leave and needed someone to take our luggage down(coming in, the fellow on the desk helped us without complaint). I’d certainly recommend it for younger people who don’t care about the size of the rooms, or the need to handle your own bags.

Merveilleux!

Friendly, helpful staff and great location make this an ideal hotel in the Montparnasse district of Paris. Short walk to metro as well as a plethora of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. While the traditional rooms may be small for some, they are clean and comfortable. Besides, how much time will you spend in your hotel room in Paris?

I just came from a fabulous vacation/adventure in Paris, France with my 2 sons, ages 15 and 12. The location of this hotel is great, just off the busy Blvd du Montparnasse. The rooms are small, which I expected for a hotel built in 1856. The A/C worked great and the rooms were tidied up everyday(which was a blessing. did I mentioned I was sharing my room with my 2 sons?). There was also a very nice laundromat nearby, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The breakfasts were also good. The staff were very helpful in giving us tips to get to where we were going and recommending restaurants.(don’t bother with the one on the corner that is always busy. food is mediocre). About the only thing I could say that wasn’t so great were the water temparatures in the showers, they went from very hot to stone cold quickly… other than this, I would stay at this hotel again and maybe upgrade to the flat they were advertising. Over all, a great value and location. The happy hour every evening was very welcoming.

Charming hotel in a great neighborhood that earns it’s 3 star rating. Rooms were small but new and efficient. Front desk staff was exceedingly helpful and bilingual. In the evening, they set out wine and bar snacks in the lobby. A few hicups we ran into while staying here. The walls here are paper thin letting you hear everything going on above you. The cleaning staff is Very persistent, making sure to confirm several times that you do not if fact need your room clean even though you have the ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door. Overall it was clean, safe and in a great location but I think I would shop around before staying there again.
