Simply amazing. The area here is incredibly beautiful, the view from the observation tower over Tampere area even more so. Any visit here will be nicely rewarded; wether that by a nice walk in the nature, an amazing view from the tower or simply by a nice cup of coffee with a delicious donut.

I’d come here just for the view. I’d come here just for the donuts («munkki») and coffee. The combination of the two is unbeatable!
Make sure to visit the observation tower (2 € fee) and take a walk in the beautiful Pyynikki nature conservation area.
In addition to inside the café, there’s seating outdoors. In the summertime, you can also buy ice cream from a little «kiosk».

Best ‘munkki’ in town! Come here by foot to take in the beautiful nature surrounding the tower and reward yourself with a tasty donut and coffee.

Tampere has two nice observation towers. This one is located west of center of town in Pyynikki Park (the other tower — the Näsinneula Observation Tower, is in Särkänniemi and has a revolving restaurant at the top).
Näsinneula is nice, but this one also has amazing views and a bonus — their café at the base of the tower, which serves up coffee and fresh donuts made from a recipe that hasn’t changed in about 80 years. (Yes, the donuts are as good as they say).
Now I stayed at the Holiday Inn by the railway station, so coming to Pyynikin näkötornin was about a 40 minute walk, but it’s worth the journey. On the way you get to see the top of Pyhäjärvi (lake), and the tower is surrounded by a beautiful forest.
There always seems to be a line out the door for the café, but it moves fast, and the trip up the tower is easy, whether by lift of stairs. Worth the visit.
