John’s Steak & Seafood Restaurant

I don’t understand people writing reviews for John’s they sold out better then 10 yrs ago! If you want to review Blackstone ’ s then review on their page, DAH… John’s was the Best in town n very much missed…

Rowdy sports bar, not a quiet atmosphere, overworked waitress

Before the fire, that burned the kitchen in January, this was a nice place.
Now they have several loud televisions, with rowdy patrons betting on baseball.
I spoke with the owner /​manager about possible moving us to a quieter area, she qualified some nights that it gets loud, guess she didn’t understand the suggestion. Nice salad, coarse little loaf of dark cold bread, waitress is short in attitude, acting hurried, forgets water requested, brings requested sliced lemons for the water to the table in a napkin. The restaurant charges $ 1.50 extra for «stuffed potato», with our steak dinner. The steak is barely food grade (rib-​eye). Realizing that marbling is essential, perimeter fat should not dominate the steak, nor should the steak be segmented, loaded with sinew, or half inch thick. So due to a crowd of old inebriated men, a frazzled waitress, and overpriced food for what it was, we will not be back. «Read less

I am not from Zephyrhills and never ate at John’s. From what I have been told, John’s was the place to go for a nice meal. You know? Where you want to celebrate something. Well, we went to Blackstone’s for my mother-in-law’s birthday. We had a party of 10. I really wanted to go to Sonny’s (around the corner) but since it wasn’t my party I kept that between me and my husband.
The food was bad. Actually, that is the nicest way for me to say it.
My favorite part was the salad bar and it was sub-​par.
The food was barely edible. I mean, the food was cold (mine) and from what I could hear only one person had hot food. How can a chopped steak be served cold. It wasn’t even lukewarm. WTH?
The service wasn’t as bad as the food.
Seriously, keep driving. You will do better to wait the 15 minutes it takes this towns McDonald’s to get you your food than to come here.

Place sucks. Go to outback

This place is now called Blackstone’s Reef & Grill and as I overheard the manager telling another table it was to update the place since John hasn’t been there for several years but everyone else is the same.
The food here is terrible. The fish was not seasoned at all and served on a roasting type plate that has probably had a good 30 years of service judging by the looks of it. I had ordered the green beans as my side and when the food was delivered the server informed me that they ran out and they replaced it with canned «Mexi-​corn» straight out of my elementary school cafeteria nightmares. The salad bar was nothing more than iceberg lettuce and bagged croutons with ho-​hum toppings and dressings.
