Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center

It’s difficult to review somewhere that I stayed for free (since my sorority was holding our retreat here) but I’ll give my honest opinion!
The rooms we stayed in were down a long flight of stairs, it’s not to bad if you are staying a few nights, but if you were to be staying longer and have heavier bags, this walk would be very difficult.
Our room had three twin sized beds in it, and one couch that turned into a pull away bed. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable. If I had one piece of advice for this resort is that it’s time to splurge and buy beds that won’t keep you tossing and turning all night long. This was my biggest complaint the entire trip, but if you are providing people a place to sleep, they should be able to atleast sleep.
The biggest up side to our room was the view, it was incredibly beautiful. Upon walking into our large room we saw three windows that provided a panorama of Lake Tahoe which was to die for.

The best thing about this place is the amazing views of Lake Tahoe. The whole conference center, which includes multiple buildings, is situated on a hill, so basically no matter where you are you get a great view. There’s a great private beach and dock to hang out on. I saw the most amazing sunrises and sunsets over the lake here. My husband and I stayed in Cabin A which was cute with its own kitchen. The bed was a double which was pretty small for two people and uncomfortable. The sheets were scratchy, and the polyester comforter was old school like a cheap motel’s. The shower leaked water on the floor and was just big enough for one. We had giant black ants in our kitchen. I really didn’t like having to make our beds and clean the cabin (sweep, mop, strip beds, do dishes) before leaving. It made for a frenzied morning check out. This is pretty typical of most Christian conference centers though. There’s WiFi :) which is a big plus. Our group also used Hubbard, which has a great fully stocked, large kitchen. It had ping pong too which is my favorite!

I’ve stayed here 6 – 8 times over a decade. This last trip, the place ran out of gas, in the middle of winter. The night after that, the power went out, twice. The fire extinguisher in our cabin was totally empty. This is a church retreat center, and the leadership do not seem very interested customer service where the general public are concerned.
The night the power went out was New Year’s Day, and Zephyr had not set up their after hours answering service to work on holidays. So we had to walk around the campus looking for somebody to tell about the power problem. I left a message complaining about this. The director called me back, who said I was «making a mountain out of a molehill» and «had a negative spirit». He never apologized, instead he made many excuses. Contrast this to the maintenance staff who took ownership of the problems. The director seem more of a preacher than the director of cabin rental facility.
The director was not aware the answering service was off. Nor was he aware the of the lack of gas the night before. I no longer feel this place is safe and won’t be back. I think Zephyr needs to hire somebody to run the place who has some sense of customer service.

Most trips to South Lake I end up at Zephyr Point Presbyterian. The cabins are very clean, simple, and completely conducive to enjoying a trip to Lake Tahoe. No TV (well, most cabins anyways) and limited amenities insures that you spend the bulk of your time outside, breathing the fresh air and enjoying all the sites and splendors Lake Tahoe has to offer. So I don’t sound completely like a sales pitch: the rooms could use a few updates (less stiff/​spring-​in-​back beds) and better room thermostats (ours required a bit of finesse), and it would be awesome if the WiFi offered in the dormitories/​conference halls reached the cabins (useful for researching outdoor activities!)…but otherwise I never hesitate for a moment to come back to these cabins. :)

This is the 2^nd year that I’ve been to a conference hosted at Zephyr Point. And each year, nothing has changed, except that everything may have gotten just a tad more beautiful. From the majestic view of Tahoe and the lovely colors of leaves changing in the fall season, Zephyr Point has a prime Tahoe location for a great getaway.
We stayed here as a college group of over 130 people over the Halloween weekend. They gave us a good rate. Staff stayed in the Tahoe Center. Specifically, my room was in the Morning Star building, and depending on which side you’re on, you’ll get a superb view of the lake. In these buildings, there are single or double bed rooms. They provide towels, sheets, and a bar of soap. It’s up to you to bring your own other toiletries, and you have to put the sheets on the bed yourself. There’s no blow dryer or coffee maker. Pro tip: bring your own Aeropress or French press and coffee beans, because the hot water from the tap gets hot enough to make your own morning cup of joe! I’d liken the accommodations to an economy hotel. You don’t pay a lot, and so you have to fill in the details to make your stay more luxurious.
They have a great large-​group meeting room. One side has a view of the lake, and the building is heated. Beware of the long flight of stairs! From the parking lot to the edge of the lake, there’s a winding asphalt road or a towering column of stairs, either of which can take your breath away. I’d like to think it’s just the altitude and that I’m not out of shape.
The cafeteria serves okay food. They are only open to serve food for a 40 minute window, so you have to get to the kitchen on time. Each meal had fruits or veggies, and there were vegan options. The eggs tasted like reconstituted powdered eggs, and the pastries were on the dry side. The sandwiches for lunch were self-​serve on decent bread. The chicken at dinner was moist. All in all, the food is basically meant to provide sustenance but it is definitely nothing to write home about.
When you’re here, take a little walk on the grounds. There is so much nature to appreciate. They also have a dock and a large grass field. If you’re game, get up a little early and watch the sunrise and see the mist hovering over the lake. It’s amazing how the colors of the water change throughout the day. Apparently there are cabins to rent year-​round, so you don’t just have to come here with a large group. This is definitely a place where you come for the location, scenery, and to be with people, but definitely not a place to come to for the food!

Great place to stay. If you are truly looking for time to connect with God and enjoy some quiet time, then this is your place. Our room was pretty good but the walks were the best. Cafeteria style food is delicious!

I stayed here with my family for about four days and I can’t say enough about this retreat center! All of the staff is extremely friendly and being a faith based center offers a lot of perks. The property is quiet, beautiful, and with serene Lake Tahoe views and private beach access will promote any get together or private getaway! Being from Los Angeles I couldn’t believe how cheap the prices were for what you got in a private cabin. For those of us who like to be on the lake and not in a casino environment while not camping, this offers the perfect option. Fully equipped with all kitchen appliances and utensils, along with comfortable furnishings and lovely bedroom set ups. The cabins are each unique and the website is updated and accurate. The perfect Tahoe get away!

I love this place so much! My family has a cabin on reserve every year and they remolded:) they treat us so wonderfully and added a summer camp!
There are hotel like areas as well which are very clean and there are beautiful views all over the property.
There is plenty of parking and all of the staff is so attentive and helpful.
The private beach is so perfect.
It’s a blast every time! We never want to give it up:)

Nice little hidden gem with access to the lake, a little pier and beach

great place to get away from all the distractions of our lives. the buildings, the people, the food and the quiet time opportunities are incredible. small trails to walk and the beauty of the lake make it worth the price.
parking is reasonable, however if you want covered parking check-​in earlier. great for kids and parents to just be a family and get uplifted spiritually.

I just got back from a great church retreat here. Located 4 miles from the stateline on Hwy 50, very close to Heavenly Ski Resort, this place is one of the most beautiful and well-​maintained retreat sites I’ve ever been to (its prime location rivals Campus By The Sea on Catalina Island). It has hot water, heaters, electricity, a covered parking building, and even 3G reception on AT&T!
Some of the cabins are located along the shore of Lake Tahoe and have breathtaking views of the lake. As you sleep at night, you can hear the gentle waves coming up rhythmically on the shores. It’s amazing. And when it snows, it’s incredibly beautiful. God’s creation is awesome and inspiring.
This is a huge piece of property with many cabins, as I found out when participating in a church activity modeled after Amazing Race that involved running uphill and downhill, up many flights of stairs and back down, and all across the snow-​covered property (while it was snowing too).
The cabins are fully-​furnished (beds with pillows and blankets, sofas, kitchens stocked with supplies, vacuum cleaners) and are fun to live in. Our church cooked our own food. The meeting halls are simple but stocked with chairs and tables, and have a great view of the lake too.
The only suggestions I’d have for this conference center is to have a better lit sign from the highway. It was pitch black at 11 pm when we were trying to find the entrance to this place, and we passed it 3 times before we finally found the small entrance (props to my trusty iPhone!). It’s also quite a trek to bring your luggage from the parking building/​lots to the cabins, but there isn’t too much you can do about that, I guess.
I’d highly recommend this conference center for other churches planning retreats or other activities.

Location is 5 stars! I particularly love the «portal of prayer» that looks out over the shoreline of Lake Tahoe. It is a peaceful and rejuvenating place.
This is a no-​frills conference center owned by one of the major protestant denominations. I have been here twice for conferences. The rooms are adequate, though you do have to strip your bed & re-​make it before you leave. There is minimal maid service.
The food is adequate, but nothing exciting. The only highlight of the meals at the three day conference was the breakfast bisquits. But nothing was really bad either, just ok.

Nice place to rent a cabin for a family vacation. The views are so incredible, being out on the «point» means lake views from many angles. A nice little private beach with 2 docks ~ we love to take our rafts and inflated kayaks out further.
Some cabins are close to the lake, and some are quite a hike away. There are also lodges that may be rented for larger groups. In July/​August it is hard to find something available, though.
Close to Stateline, yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and beauty of the lake.

This is a great conference center. They are constantly upgrading the area for all the guests. There is a dock to jump off of on the lakeside of the grounds. The Amphitheater is really nice to have large group meetings.
Robin’s Flight (huge stairway) was not a delight to walk up. In fact, it sucks.
It’d also be nice to have WiFi internet access like how other retreat places are starting to put in.
