What a hidden Gem! I have no artistic ability but I do enjoy art. We had to make an unexpected trip to Zanesville and looked for something to do while in town. Thing sounded interesting and I’m soooo glad we did. They suggest a 2 dollar donation. it was amazing. In this warehouse art studio. I got to meet the artist. see various steps in the process. Lots and lots of sculpture. Some paintings, stained glass, mosaic, African masks, etc. I got so excited literally had to go pee. thankfully they let me use their bathroom. I only had an hour before they closed. the time flew. I’d love to go back. In Febuarry the space was very cold. so glad I had my coat but more glad I had my camnera. Mr Cottrilll’s work is impressive. felt like I had private showing of a museum. If you are an art lover … it’s worth stopping.

We stopped in Zanesville today and loved our visit to this artist’s studio. He casts commissioned bronze sculptures and it was possible to see all parts of the process– and on some days you can visit the foundry as well. It was a bit dusty, I think because of plaster dust. Artist had an interesting style– strangest thing was tombs he had cast for his wife and himself– both are still alive of course, but they were holding hands. I really enjoyed seeing how the casts were made for the bronze, with the wax and rubber molds. Nice young woman working there gave us the background and it was fascinating. $ 2 suggested donation was more than reasonable. I would recommend it for kids too, although there are nudes, so some might be offended.
