So okay, I’m in Yuma spending time at my mom’s house for Christmas. I want to grab lunch with her, so I Google her law practice number to say, «hey, let’s get a taco with guacamole.» I then saw in the search results that Unilocal had a review site for her. Seeing that she didn’t have any yet, I decided to write one for her. Because my mother is just plain awesome. Yes, I admit, Terri Capozzi is my mother(which probably makes this review a bit bias – hi Mom!). But what this also means is that I’ve seen her practice law ever since I can remember. She’s exceptional at what she does. I’ve shadowed her at her office and have tagged along with her in court – she’s respectful to everyone, and is therefore respected by everyone. She’s been a part of the legal community for about 30 years, and an attorney for quite a bit of that time… so everyone knows her. My mom is one of the smartest people I know, too. Seriously. She eats crossword puzzles and brain teasers for breakfast. In the courtroom, this means she picks up on every.little.thing, from when the prosecutor tries to slightly bend the rules to when she has to make a record on something. She doesn’t yell or make a production about anything, but her words can cut a person in two. I should also mention that she provides free consultations, unlike most attorneys. While my mother’s a fantastic lawyer, she’s not the best business person. She doesn’t even have a website, despite the advice of many. But for her clients this is a good thing – it means she never tries«selling» her services to them. She tells the client like it is, and lets them to make the best decision for their situation. My mom also has a way of making seemingly-scary situations not so bad at all. I’ve seen her do this with me growing up, and she does it a lot with her clients, too. It doesn’t matter if it’s a divorce, drug possession case or whatever. Unless a person has unrealistic expectations about the outcome(and she’ll tell them if they do), she has a way of making people feel a lot better about their situation than when they first started the intimidating maze of legal procedures. Anyway, she’s probably going to be really embarrassed when she reads this. But oh well.
