Very fresh and nicely seasoned ceviche and crispy fish are both standouts. My husband’s chicken chimichanga was huge and nicely sauced with a buttery green sauce. We liked their patio that allowed our dogs. They had a buffet inside with a harp player. Sadly, only one other couple was there! Where is everyone? This stuff is good.

Pros: good seafood soup and blended strawberry margarita. Regular margarita was ok Cons: extremely slow, forgetful service(where’s my side of cilantro? want water? better ask twice) Ordered the special(chili verde) and about 10 minutes later the waiter tells my husband they’re all out. Ask for a second bowl of salsa to go with your second batch of chips? It’ll never come.

My husband and I really enjoy this restaurant. The food is the best and the customer service is outstanding. The are hidden –we found them through word of mouth. Family owned and they have two other restaurants in Cathedral City(we used to go there until we moved to the high desert) and DHS. Weekend Buffet is a great deal too! Love La Palapas!

Meh about sums it up. You would think that there would be better authentic Mexican food, but sadly, no. It isn’t bro-Mex, it is just kind of bland. I had a burrito, which was just OK, but my real complaint was with the drinks. We finished a hard day of climbing in Josh and swung by here. I decided to order the large margarita ice it was 2 ½x a regular one. Well, I downed that one, plus another medium one, which I am guessing should be about 5 shots worth of booze, at the least, and I was not the least bit buzzed. Where was the booze? I guess my recommendation is not to set your sights too high if you are used to more authentic fare, and stick with the beer.

We LOVE this place. When I first realized we were getting another Mexican restaurant, I was hesitant. This place is awesome! GREAT food and service! We go all the time.

Extremely friendly. Very personalized and good service. Food was not typical Mexican fare but mine was excellent. Wife did not care much for her chili relleno and it didn’t really taste much like the ones I usually order elsewhere. It didn’t have a lot of cheese in it & had a ton of plain red sauce. We read the Unilocal reviews and someone raved about the crab stuffed or shrimp stuffed or seafood stuffed chili relleno & that’s what I was going to order, but it wasn’t on the menu and the waitress said they don’t have that. They do have some stuffed yellow peppers, deep-fried. Instead, I got the seafood stuffed fish and it was fresh and delicious. We were too full for dessert but the waitress insisted and surprised us with a little sampling of the flan and it was very good. I’m not typically a lover a flan but this was chilled and very nice. They weren’t very crowded so we definitely got to top-of-the-line service, but the friendliness of everyone suggested that there was a good service even if they were crowded. We’ll go back and try out their typical Mexican fare, but you definitely get the impression that seafood is what this place is all about.

This place is strange gem. Strange because they seem to have converted an old community center as their restaurant and a gem because, thought they are one of many Mexican choices in Yucca, they definitely have the best food! The food was great. The service was just OK, but I think our server had the whole place at an off hour during the day and perhaps was unexpectedly busy. We will be back very soon because I think this is the best full service Mexican Restaurant in the high desert area!

Wow, a restaurant in YV where the the staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, and the food taste great! The baked(skip the deep frier) fish tacos are awesome. The chicken fajita is very tasty. Service was quick and polite. Some great appetizers… and finish off with the flan around!

La Palapa is located in an area I wouldn’t have stumbled across. The main dining area looked nice, but it was kind of busy so we were placed in a back room. The atmosphere was interesting. I sort of felt like I was in a school auditorium(there was a stage and everything) and the decorations were interesting, to say the least. The food was good though. I had a carne asada burrito with red sauce and my boyfriend had the carne asade fajitas. I’m sort of kicking myself for not getting the fajitas too, because his dish was delicious. It came out sizzling and the flavors of the meat, the onions, and the bell pepper was really good. My burrito was very filling, the flavors were good, but the red sauce was sort of bland. The service was very attentive. We’ll be back. And I’ll get the fajitas.

Tried this place for a 3rd time and I am not impressed at all. Just another crappy restaurant to add to the list in Yucca Valley. How does a seafood restaurant not devein their shrimp if asked? After the two people I was with got drink refills I waited and waited, finished my food and had to get up myself and ask for a refill. 2 tables in the entire restaurant, 1 server & what looked like 2 manager running around with their heads cut off. Both managers attempting to make some sort of batter behind the bar to get my friends shrimp tacos out. And the beer taps don’t have handles on them and they are using pliers. I’m pretty lenient on service and businesses, but in the last few days I have experienced the worst service and food in Yucca. Maybe I’m just being a bitch, but I definitely won’t be back here. Bring back Roadhouse!

My parents and I had dinner at La Palapa’s Restaurant in Yucca Valley and we were absolutely amazed and pleased with the food and kindness from the waiter and from what I could tell the Owner and/or Manager. The seafood dishes we ordered were delicious and definitely unique to the Morongo Basin. The owner/manager even provided a dish«on the house» for us to try. The La Palapa Shrimp. It was very well prepared and was very flavorful. I look forward to eating there again.

Well I’m a Hispanic Women and I thought the presentation was great but the food had no flavor. The prices were pretty good. I ordered a Sope and it was only 3.99. Check out my pics. I think Kasa Market is the best Mexican food around :)

Delicious, my husband and I loved the food and the great service. We just moved up here so we are getting used to the lack of food options, and all the choices we used to have. I am so glad we found this wonderful restaurant and we will be going back multiple times to fill my belly with the best Mexican/seafood we have found up here. Please spread the word on how good this place is I want it to make it up here so I don’t have to drive down the hill. P. S. the flan and fried ice cream are amazing I’ve never had flan before and I tried it here I’m in love it’s delicious!

This place definitely has potential. I have about 2 places that I like to eat in yucca, and sooo happy there is finally a 3rd. I have only had the tacos, but that is enough for me to leave a review… they are delish!!! I ordered them la palapa style which is grilled instead of fried. The only suggestions I can make so far are: make the restaurant a little more homey(like previously stated by others), and to not put the bay leaves in the tacos… good seasoning, but not really edible and a pain to pick out. Staff is very friendly.

It’s like a Christmas miracle! We have been starved for good restaurants in YV. And this is just exactly what we needed! The food is delicious, the service was warm and hospitable and the prices incredibly reasonable. We only had seafood dishes and they were great. Camarones a la palapa — had wonderful dried mild Pasilla chiles and very fresh shrimp. The seafood stuffed filet of fish was decadent and fresh all at the same time. We have missed fresh seafood since moving to the desert and Now it’s just down the hill from home– so excited The owner was a gracious host and we can’t wait to go back. Viva!

Giving La Palapa #7 a 5 star rating to start them out with so they can have a fair and worthy fighting chance in Yucca Valley. Food is a Mexican seafood coastal cuisine style. Healthy and fresh. You can still get your tacos, burritos, enchiladas and such too. But I would suggest broadening your horizons and trying the many seafood selections they have. First time we ate here last week I tried the Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo(mexican garlic shrimp) Whoa it was awesome especially if you love garlic cause they don’t scrimp on the roasted garlic cloves in the dish. Shrimp is fresh and cooked perfectly. Rice and beans are really different but fantastic. Not the usual lardy refrieds and the rice is mexican white rice and is really good. Husband had the shrimp enchiladas with green sauce and they were fantastic. Went back a few days later with family and food was just as good. Sister and I tried the shrimp enchiladas and she loved the rice and beans too. Hubby had the chicken chimichunga burrito and said it was your average chimi. I am so trying the ceviche next time we eat here. Looked fantastic when I passed by a table where they were eating some. The service here is very good. Everyone is polite and friendly. They know the menu and answer your questions about the dishes they serve very well. Trini, one of the owners of the restaurant was extremely helpful on our first visit and explained how they prepare alot of the dishes they have and even brought out a sample of the broth base used in the fish soups that are on the menu. The only negative is the inside décor needs work. So if a palapa is a palm-thatched shelter on a Mexican beach where you can relax with your feet in the sand looking at the ocean while you sip an ice cold cerveza flavored with lime and salt, and eat a spicy shrimp taco with salsa guajillo they will need to work on the atmosphere a bit. If they do this place will rock Yucca Valley.

This location just opened and we decided to give it a try. The menu is mostly seafood so I ordered the shrimp fajitas. They were a bit spicy for me, but good nonetheless. The only improvement I would suggest would be more onions since they were mostly bell peppers. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito and was not impressed by the lack of meat, especially for $ 10. He used most of my un-eaten bell peppers to bulk the burrito up a bit. I doubt that he will order that again. I did like the fresh lemonade, even though I had to send back the first glass due to something black floating around in it, but the server was very kind and prompt to replace it. Water is served upon request only. Alcoholic beverages are decently priced. Not sure if we’ll be going back anytime soon, my husband is skeptical if they will make it in this town, but they must be doing something right if this is restaurant #7!
