You can get cheaper phones and phone cards at department stores like Target. However, they don’t offer much service.
At the Wireless Toyz on Washtenaw, the staff were helpful in discussing our options and didn’t try to sell us more phone than we needed. We told them we didn’t actually use all the minutes we were getting with our current plan, and she recommended pay as you go phones and phone cards that saved us a bundle and explained how everything worked.
On the downside, the products are overpriced. We looked at (but didn’t buy) one phone at Wireless Toyz that we later found on sale for nearly half the price at Target.
