5 stars! My car had a small engine fire due user error. In speaking with everyone I have ever met, it was assumed the alternator was broken. In speaking with the Owner, he knew right what the problem was(Not the alternator). Not only did he fix my car, but he fixed it for much less than I thought I was going to pay! He was very honest & called me every step of the way during my process. He was so honest, my husband asked him to look at my breaks too. The owner told me my breaks were NOT in direct need of repair, but told me if I did want to replace them-how much that would cost. We ended up not replacing the breaks(hey, they don’t need it yet!), but when they do need work– I’m rushing back to AAS! I will recommend this place to everyone I know in the area. Fast service(car was fixed when they said it would be). Fair prices(I called around) & the kind of honesty you can expect going to someone you trust!

I really like these people and they are just good people. Recently I had an issue which wasn’t fixed the first time they went at it, but when I brought it back 6 months later they tried another fix and only charged me for parts. I like them. They only do domestic cars, FYI.

I’ve had both repair work(replacement of tie rods and ball joints with premature wear that are integral to the control arm) and routine AWD maintenance done on my Dodge Caliber. I was very satisfied on both occasions. On both of my visits, I saw and spoke to no one but Ted and his wife Cheryl. The shop looks quite large, but I get the that impression Ted does most, if not all of the work himself. Ted knows his stuff and explains the rationale behind everything he does. Most recently he explained to me why it is best to get vehicle specific brake rotors(vent patterns are designed to dissipate a certain amount of heat), why he uses Mopar CVT fluid in Chrysler CVTs, and why he used natural instead of synthetic gear oil in my vehicle’s power transfer unit and rear differential. If you want a cheap and temporary fix this might not be the shop for you. Ted’s prices are fair, but they certainly aren’t the lowest around. In exchange for paying a fair price, you get quality work performed by an educated mechanic using appropriate and quality parts.

My vehicle needed a lot of work. I saw the reviews here and thought I’d try them out. First the mechanic fought with me about a repair I knew it needed. There are some things you don’t need a professional to diagnose. I knew some of what needed to be done and I got treated like an idiot for it. Perhaps it was because I’m not male. I talked to the mechanic 3 hours before picking up the vehicle. When I arrived to pick up the car I was told that more work was done than what I had authorized and was presented with a second bill for the unauthorized work. When you have no income and are living on a tight income an extra $ 300 is a lot of money. I had told them up front how much I had to spend and they had already gone over that amount [with my approval]. To try to squeeze out even more money, and on unauthorized work that might have been authorized with a phone call [but might not have been, with my budget], is at the very least unethical. I’m sure there are auto repair shops in the Ypsi area that are ethical and do not treat women like morons, but this place is not one of them.

They do a great job every time. All around a very competent and honest shop. The mechanic tells me what he’s going to do to solve the problem and how much it will cost. Then he does it, the price doesn’t change, and my car works. They never take longer than they say they will. AAS has fixed stuff that other shops wouldn’t bother with, like my broken oil dipstick tube. It’s kind of unnerving to drive around with no idea how much oil you have, but the frist shop I went to just didn’t want to bother with it. AAS welded the two halves of the tube back together. Not even a big deal. They have also replaced a transmission for me and done routine maintenance like new tires.
