Too expensive for the quality. Put it this way. You are pretty much paying $ 30 for 2 to have spaghetti o’s. Nothing about this place is homemade/authentic Italian. The sauce reminded us of the canned hunts sauce and the meatballs resemble spaghetti o meatballs. Might as well go to Olive Garden.

Simple, homemade Italian at its best. First of all this isn’t your fancy Italian place. You will not find a selection of wines or fancy breads, it’s strictly basic. The homemade pastas are to die for! The sauce is perfect, just the right amount of thickness! And you can’t forget the classic cherry pop! This is a family business that has been in Youngstown for ages. A true gem.

I ordered the lasagna yesterday for lunch. It’s a little pricey at $ 13 for a Youngstown lunch entrée at a not-so-high-end restaurant, but the dish rates 5 stars. It was great for lunch and even better reheated for breakfast! They give a VERY generous portion, and the ingredients taste outstanding. The side salad isn’t exciting, but the house dressing is very tasty. The service and atmosphere are only a 3 – 4, hence my overall 4-star rating. My friend had fried fish and pasta shells and he was very pleased. If authentic, «homemade» Italian food is your priority, definitely give it a shot!

One of my favorites for home style Italian-American cuisine in the area. The home-made cavatelli and manicotti are wonderful. Family-owned/operated Extremely delicious! You can wear a bib if you need one.

Nice, neat, and clean atmosphere. Comfortable amount of space between tables and patrons… very fast service from a friendly employee. Stuffed hot pepper appetizer served nice and hot. Very tasty… Sausage sandwich and fries done just as well… reasonably priced… The menu is somewhat limited… but the taste and service will cause me to return…

I think what I love most about Scarsella’s is that the food is consistently great each time that I go there. The sauce isn’t overpowered by herbs or garlic, nor is it too sweet. It is smooth with a slight meaty undertone. The Meatballs are just okay in my opinion, but the real star of the show is the Eggplant Parmesan. It is perfectly seasoned and not ladened down with an abundance of cheese. It is a really great dish. As a side note, I do like to order the imported linguine instead of the shell pasta. Sometimes, the shells will water down the sauce, and in all honesty, I just really hate shells.

My wife and I went there for the 1st time for lunch, and we both had the homemade spaghetti and meatballs. The food was amazing but the service was extremely poor. I went back with a friend the other night for dinner and I couldn’t of had a better dining experience. The young lady that waited on us was very friendly and took great care of us. This is by far the best spaghetti and meatball dinner that I’ve had in the area. I would of gladly given them 5 stars if the service would be more consistent.

Scarsella’s doesn’t have the best plate of spaghetti & meatballs in Youngstown, Ohio … its probably the best spaghetti & meatballs in the United States … the sauce is authentically homemade red nectar from heaven ! Smooth & rich without being too spicy or too anything… its the best restaurant sauce I’ve ever had the good fortune to experience… this is a family run restaurant since 1957 that just serves superb simple dishes at fair prices… if this restaurant was in a larger metropolitan area it would be renowned … people in the vicinity of Youngstown are quite lucky to have this gem of a restaurant … love this place!

Let me start out by saying this is based on a Lunch experience. I feel like this establishment is much more well known for their dinner. Lunch menu is very limited. Had the Italian Wedding Soup and was not highly impressed. The guys next to me had the full out meatball platter and that looked and smelled pretty good. Atmosphere was a weird mix of Italian and 50’s restaurant. Lots of what seemed to be faithful regulars. Wait staff was nice, but kind of awkward… Again

This is not where you want to stop if you want fancy artisan bread served with $ 25/bottle olive oil and rare herbs and spices served before your meal. This is where you go if you want just plain great Italian food with no distractions. The menu is tiny, but there is not a thing on it that is not the best version of whatever it is, anyway. The cavetelli and wedding soup are the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The service can be variable, but that just adds to the charm of a small local restaurant.

The Best Non Fancy Italian Food in Town. Great Price. The only negative, if you like to drink. No Alcohol Sold, but you can bring in your own.
