We get takeout from here fairly frequently, and I have ordered the phở several times when I’ve had a cold(which seems to be instantly cured!). We order from the Chinese menu primarily but all the Vietnamese dishes are wonderful too. The nice thing about the Chinese food here is it is much lighter, very flavorful but not nearly as heavy/greasy as all the other Chinese restaurants here. Very lean meats, fresh vegetables. We have never been disappointed by anything we’ve ordered here.

I went there and the dining room was set up well and tthe décor was awesome! The waitress was prompt and attentive while I was there. The food however was not that good. The dish was very bland and the shrimp were burnt. I was not pleased by the food.

They serve a good bowl of Phở, but my biggest gripe is that they are a little stingy with the herbs for takeout, and they completely stopped giving basil out all together, so now you’re left with a few sprigs of Cilantro for this gigantic portion of Phở. Not sure when that change happened. Regardless, their summer rolls are excellent, so I put up with the lack of basil in my Phở because of it.

My wife and I have been dining here for several years. My wife loves the Phở, and I usually order from the Chinese side of the menu. My favorites are Orange Beef, General Tso’s chicken and sweet and sour shrimp. Nice casual atmosphere. This is a very clean restaurant, which is something that is important to us. I happily give this a restaurant five star rating.

If you have yet to be indoctrinated in the cult of Phở, stop in and give it a try. For a very limited food choices area, I was stunned to be able to get a bowl with rare brisket and tendon. It was not perfect by any means, flavors a bit muted probably for local taste buds, but the broth was rich and flavorful. Also, the spring rolls and peanut sauce was a nice side. My only quibble was the rest of the menu was almost entirely boring amercanized chinese items. Still, A hot bowl of Phở in Y-Town is a phenomenal thing. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. I have been back many times and have not been disappointed.

Really great. Compared to Pittsburgh, better actually. That’s all, short and sweet. Great phở and great bun and great summer rolls

This place has my MOST favorite shrimp with broccoli! Have been ordering it for 2 yrs and talk about excellent consistency. I’ve NEVER had a bad dish. The young woman and man who run it are soooo friendly and sweet :) I also adore and have found no where else their Summer Rolls. You must get these if u go. Always fresh. Not skimpy on the shrimp. Always big, succulent, and nasty mud vein free! Husband likes their food and he is the pickiest man alive. They even have a cool online ordering system if u just don’t want to pick up the phone and speak to someone. Full menu online. They are closed on Mondays. If I had to choose one negative… which is no big deal… they do not have a liquor license. Inside is nice to eat in… and clean restrooms. Add Tsing Tao, and Id prob not eat anywhere else lol

Phở Saigon is a refreshing change from the usual area fare of pizza, Italian food, and chain restaurants. The dining room is always impeccably clean and the owners greet you with a smile. The phở is delicious! As is everything on the menu. Great prices too.

This is the place that I come to when I’m in the mood for some phở especially on a cold day, hits the spot. Phở is the Vietnamese version of chicken noodle soup. It also comes with a plate of fresh veggies of bean sprouts, and cilantro, but lacks the vegetable that really brings out the flavors of phở, and that is thai basil. You can order it with a variety of meats ranging from brisket, meatballs, rare beef slices, tripe all which make the phở really good. I have gotten different meats depending on my mood, and haven’t been disappointed with my choices yet. Also ordered the summer rolls, which I’m used to calling them spring rolls so that was a bit of an adjustment when coming to this restaurant. The peanut sauce is a bit on the thick so, but tastes really good. I wish the summer rolls had more meat in them. After the first bite, I did feel like I was biting into a head of lettuce. All in all a good place to go for some vietnamese food. Other things on the menu were Chinese food options too.

I am a huge fan of phở and was excited to see that we have a Vietnamese place in the neighborhood. When I walked in around 6:15pm, it was empty but there were about 10 bags of take-out food waiting to go. By the time I left, there were many tables full as well. I started with the summer rolls which were clearly freshly made but were mostly lettuce and did not have the combination of flavors and textures that I would expect in a summer roll. Just as I was finishing up my roll, my phở arrived! I got the special combination which includes beef, meatball, tendon and tripe. I was surprised to see no chopsticks(it is surprisingly hard to eat phở without them) but the waitress quickly brought some to me when I asked. I thought the phở was quite good. It is clearly tamed down a bit for the American palate as it did not have the kick that I am used to from other phở places but it was still tasty. The only disappointment was they served plain cilantro rather than the Vietnamese basil(it has a name but I don’t recall what it is) that is more traditional for phở. Don’t get me wrong, the cilantro was good but it was missing that special something that comes with the other garnish. Having said that, it is winter and we are in Youngstown so perhaps they just can’t get their hands on anything else. They also have bun and several other Vietnamese choices along with a good selection of Chinese. I grabbed a takeout menu as I’ll definitely be back!

Seasoning great in phở and Vietnamese dishes. Pleasant staff, clean, quiet. Go. Take out if you must. Way better than the strip mall Chinese you usually default to.

Beautiful décor for a storefront in a strip mall. Food seemed to be very authentic and fresh. Waitress and hostess were very attentive. I personally did not care for the foods flavor. Perhaps it was some Vietnamese spices that I am not accustomed to. The soup tasted like potpourri smells.

So sad. I love Phở and this place is horrible. I have returned at least 6 times over the last 3 years HOPING it would get better. Don’t waste your money. The Phở here has at times been inedible– found chunks of rubbery stuff and the broth tasted old/sour.

Phở Saigon is a great place to dine. Whether you’re interested in tradional phở(a Vietnamese soup) or in more commonly known Chinese dishes like Kung Pao chicken, you won’t be disappointed. The food here is high quality, fresh and well prepared. I tried phở the first time I was there. It was good, but I’m not much of a soup guy. So I almost always get Kung Pao chicken. It is the best KP chicken I’ve ever had! Spicy without being obnoxiously hot. Tasty without being overwhelming. The cuts of chicken used are of a higher and cleaner quality than most Chinese restaurants. You can tell that they take pride in the taste and appearance of their food. The atmosphere is more upscale than most Chinese buffet’s but not so much that you think you’re at a PF Chang’s. The wait staff is efficient and friendly and they can answer your questions about the menu. Most folks have never tried phở and ask a lot of questions, but you never get the feeling that the wait staff is tired of answering the same questions over and over. I recommend Phở Saigon to anyone who likes Chinese food and would like to branch out from that into Vietnamese food.

We have been coming to this place for years. This is the first time we have ever left disappointed. I don’t know what happened. I ordered the same thing I have(phở tai) for the last 3 years. We drive 30 miles to get to this place so we can have good phở. It used to be the best I’d ever had. This time both our soups came out cold. The noodles were way over cooked and the broth tasted different. Possibly old. Couldn’t tell. They also have a new soda fountain. But you can tell the syrup is turned down lower than most places. I have worked at restaurants and know this is something some places do to conserve syrup. When we first started coming here, your plate of veggies was heaping. Now it’s a few sprigs of bean sprouts one basil leave and a quarter of a lime. There use to be cilantro. And lots of basil. We told our waitress and we got a «oh I’m sorry». We won’t be coming back.

Love this place. We’ve been coming here for years. I’m not sure but I think it changed hands a year or two ago. There used to be an old man cooking in the back and a middle aged or older woman who always worked the front. Now everyone is young. Honestly I think it went through a little rocky transition both food and staff wise but this last year, 2013 they seem to have hit there stride. They do a ton of take out. And the place is getting busier and busier inside all the time. Their phở ga has really improved and their pork bun vermicilli noodles is great too. I used to also always get the orange beef and shrimp and lobster when the old man worked in the back. He was an awesome cook. I think I’ll try it again soon. Someday I’m gonna ask the history of this place. Maybe the old couple was related to the young people working there now. Def try the phở. And the bun!

Changed ownership. Do not come waited 1 ½ hours for food. Some in the party waited 45 minutes after some finished lunch to get the rest of the food. Chicken and broccoli was horrible. Still have to stop and get lunch after a two and a half hour trip. 3 tables came and left before food came. To be told we waited because the chef was sick! Skip it and go to house of china

I was very excited to try phở for the first time, but wasn’t really sure if a Youngstown place was the right place to really give it a shot. Well… I am VERY glad I gave this a try! They have many appetizers that are home made. I ordered the«goi cuon» which was shrimp, cabbage, and other stuff rolled with rice paper server with a peanut dipping sauce. It was very good. My wife ordered some other homemade egg roll type dish(I can’t remember the name) and it was great too! For my phở, I ordered phở tai chin. The meat was tender, the broth was tasty… I added all the mix-ins into my soup, plus about 3 tablespoons of their hot sauce they had at the table. I loved it!!! My wife ordered from the more traditional chinese menu. She had cashew chicken. That was very good too. The place was CLEAN! The service was GREAT! We will definitely be back! I cannot wait to try another dish!

Really fish sauce tasting food. Husband has the grilled pork and couldn’t get over all the fish sauce on the dish. Food tasted good and fresh I had the house fried rice and couldn’t put my finger on why it didn’t taste like my usual Vietnamese food. It is good authentic food in Youngstown. Will be back when I crave phở. Have had it before and really enjoyed it. This time not so much. Maybe because we took it to go. Their orange chicken tasted pretty good. Would order that again.

Yep, 5 stars with one caveat. I wouldn’t give this 5 stars in Los Angeles or New York, but for Youngstown, Ohio I’d give it 6 stars if I could. I had the Phở Chin(noodle soup with well done lean meat) which was good. The broth was rich and beefy and and the meat soft and lean. The bean sprouts and veggies were fresh. The summer roll was just okay. I’ve had better, but wouldn’t hesitate to order it again if I felt the craving. It was just«okay» because it had been refrigerated as opposed to made to order. The best dish on the table was the Bun Bo Hue aka Spicy Noodle Soup(which apparently is only served on Saturday and Sundays). The broth was rich and well flavored. It’s different than the Phở broth. Its tough to describe but my best attempt would be the perfect balance of meaty, tangy, spicy and herbal. It was excellent. The service was fantastic and the restaurant itself was much nicer than I was expecting. Phở Saigon is in a little strip mall and from the outside looks like it will be small, but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised by a bright, clean, roomy restaurant with hardwood floors. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, it’s cheap too.
