Can you really call a $ 17.99 Steak Salad a SALAD if it only comes with steak, lettuce &6 French fries??? No tomatoes, no cucumbers, no onions, no carrots no veggies! IJS by definition & cost I’d like more veggies.

Tip: they drown their food in sauce. Tell them to go light, unless you like soup. If you can get past that though, the food is really good here actually.

I’ve eaten here 100 times or so, and I’m really surprised at the 3 and 4-star ratings. I know of no more consistently-reliable outstanding food in town… and at reasonable prices, ESPECIALLY at lunch. I don’t think I’ve EVER been disappointed. If you like bread with hot peppers in oil, theirs may be the best I’ve ever had. Their daily lunch specials change all the time and I’ve never had a disappointing one. I’ve had great steak, chicken and seafood dishes for dinner. The atmosphere is great and service is almost always good… other than the boring«strip plaza» location, what’s not to like?

Johnny’s is one of those places that makes me wish I could give 3 ½ stars. They are more than a 3 but not quite a 4. We were seated in a booth in the bar area and were quickly greeted by our waitress. Although I swore off trying greens in the Y-town area as I am always disappointed, my husband wanted to try again so we ordered the«fried greens» and much to my surprise, they were pretty close to what I know as «Utica greens». Very good! I had the veal marsala which was good with nice slices of portobello lining my plate. My husband had the chicken and sausage that was terrific and definitely something I will get on a future visit. Service was friendly and we’ll definitely be back!

I’ve been here several times, and I have never had a bad meal. The seafood medley is amazing, and their house red sauce on their pasta dishes is incredible. It’s a top choice every time I am in town!

Went here on a date and had a decent experience regarding the décor of the establishment and the service I received by my server. Sadly the meal I received from the kitchen was a different story entirely, the chicken I ordered was rubbery and hard to chew, along with the fries being somewhat soggy. The dish I received was not worth the value the establishment was asking, but again the small things like the wedding soup and service made up for it slightly. Overall I would say if you wanna try some decent food you can come to Johnny’s and enjoy the overall experience!

It’s good. I wanted to say great, but the sauce didn’t seem homemade. Great salad, bread and the steak was delicious

Went there for dinner the other night and as usually, the food is fantastic.!! Husb had the steak salad and i had Johnny’s Chicken Marsala, both were excellent. His steak was done perfectly, just the way he wanted it, , and my chicken was very tender and their wine sauce adds a wonderful flavor. Have been there before and went when they were on Midlothian Blvd, before they moved to this new location. Sometimes service is a bit slow due to being very busy, but it is definitely worth the wait ! Our waitress, Jessica, was very sweet and gave us great service. All in all, it was a great dinner and we will keep going back.

On a recent business trip to Ohio, a business colleague suggested we have lunch at Johnny’s in Youngstown. Never having been to Youngstown before I had no idea what to expect(although I stealthily checked Unilocal on the way there, of course…). Frankly, I was blown away. The food here is fantastic, and hey, I’m from Jersey, so I know good Italian! **makes appropriate hand gestures** Our server(Sara) was a delight, and when I asked about gluten free options she cheerfully made a suggestion regarding their GF pasta, and how it could be made with any of their regular dishes. The result was the most delicious chicken diablo I’ve ever had. Even the appetizer of roasted/sauteed vegetables(with lots and lots of garlic!) was terrific. From the outside, Johnny’s is an unassuming sort of place, and may not catch your attention, but trust me if you want an excellent Italian meal at a very reasonable price this is one of the best choices you can make, and it’s worth driving out of your way for. If Tony Soprano made it to heaven, he’s probably ordering take-out from Johnny’s right now.

My wife and I tried this place and were very happy. Nice atmosphere, and great food. The wedding soup was good. My wife had the salad and really liked the house dressing. For our entrée, I had lamb stuffed chicken which was awesome! I cannot believe how much lamb they fit in the chicken(also with feta cheese and spinach). My wife had the chicken parm. It was very good and the sauce was great. Overall we had a very nice time there. Our one complaint was the service… Didn’t really care for our server. We will be back though.
