Delicious food at a very reasonable price. I live in Cincinnati and am glad to have a place to eat at when I come back to Youngstown to visit. The potato and kale soup is great, as is the steak sandwich and black rice burger.

There aren’t enough words to describe how awesome Ely’s is. Everyone on staff is amazingly friendly, and they make sure that your experience is perfect. I make sure to get there on Thursday’s for their vegan BLT. Once you try it, you will look for excuses to go back.

I’m not a vegan, but this place is awesome! Their sandwiches, spring rolls, soups, and salads are the only things I get — not because i don’t like anything else that they offer, but because these meals are so good i haven’t gotten around to trying anything else. The food is so creative; you can tell a lot of thought went into the menu. They switch up the soups, but i’ve never had one i didn’t like.

I grew up in Youngstown so I had the delight of eating at Ely’s To Go a LOT! I even started eating there when they were just a little side café in The Bread Chef, so it’s wonderful to see them grow and spread healthy living to an area that so needs it. I’ve had vegan food all around the country and can say Ely’s is hands down my favorite. Can’t wait to go back and visit for some grub!!!

My brother happens to be a vegetarian, so he convinced my family and I to try Ely’s To Go. Being a big meat eater, I was a bit skeptical about eating vegan food, but boy was I taken by surprise. Ely’s packs big flavor into lighter fare, and it’s the perfect spot if you want to try something new. For lunch, I tasted the spring rolls, the quinoa salad, and«Banh Mi» sandwich, which was the special of the day. The spring rolls were outstanding. They were light, crisp, and the sauce served with the rolls provided a nice sweetness to compliment the veggies inside. The quinoa salad was another favorite. The salad had a great texture, and the quinoa was seasoned well. The grapes hidden inside the mixture were a nice surprise, giving an extra burst of flavor with each bite. The only minor disappointment was the sandwich. Although I enjoyed the filling of the sandwich(which was tofu, vegan pâté, and veggies), I thought the bread was a little too tough for the lighter ingredients. Other than that, everything tasted great. There’s not much more I can say about Ely’s. The atmosphere is clean, the prices are fair, and all of the staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining what a lot of the vegan cuisine was. I’m so glad my brother was able to introduce my family to this amazing little spot. The food was not only very good, but it was something different. It wasn’t the usual chicken sandwich or fast-food burger that many of us are used to eating for lunch. The flavors of Ely’s are complex, unique, and fresh. I would highly recommend Ely’s to anyone, meat eater or not. You will be satisfied either way!

This place is GREAT. The food is so fresh and simple. The menu rotates daily and they go by what’s fresh from local producers. Tuesdays they have Phở which is what I had and it was excellent, the broth is very flavorful. They have quite a few options to choose from including home-made drinks and smoothies. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable. They sell these adorable aprons too. This place is just amazing and everyone should really try it. It’s hidden in a plaza across the road from old barns and run-down crap, so it may not seem that amazing by it’s location.

My absolute favorite place to grab a quick lunch in the Youngstown area! Everything that I’ve had here has been wonderful. My favorite is the bahn mi. I always love their soups as well. Food is vegan, but I have taken several meat eaters and they’ve loved it as well. The staff is great. Always very friendly, happy and helpful. Love this place!

Well prepared and tantalizing to the taste buds. Ely’s to go delivers the goods to vegans & vegetarians. One of the very few vegan establishments I’ve dined in that offered a very wholesome culinary experience.

There are few vegan options in this area, but vegan or not, you can’t go wrong eating here. Eating in or grabbing to-go, you’re in for a treat. I love each and every meal I’ve had. Bahn-Mi Tuesday might still be my fave but the lemongrass meatballs are wonderful, cheesy Monday is great, the black rice burgers on Friday are delish and the spring rolls are the best I’ve had. Who am I kidding, I love everything about this place! Try the tea’s, they are phenomenal too!

Complex flavors marry delectable deliciousness at Ely’s To Go. Vegans and carnivores alike will find something that they enjoy from the thoughtfully planned menu. I had a half-iron distance race coming up over the weekend, and I had to drive through Youngstown to get to my destination. Luckily, my tri buddies recommended this tasty place so that I didn’t have to stop at some crazy, gross chain to eat cardboard food. Ely’s To Go does give you the notion that it’s take out. But don’t fret — if you are coming from out of state like I was, there are tables and a microwave to heat up your meal. The staff are nice and helpful and will walk you through their menu if you have questions. I tried the«steak» sandwich with pineapple habanero, spring rolls, and ginger tea. Flavor profiles were fantastic. The sandwich had just enough punch to make it tasty. The tea was also very good… And the spring rolls are better than any I’ve had in any restaurant prior. I say — give it a try!

We eat here every time we visit family. The salads are consistently fresh and tasty and the varying daily options are fantastic! Wonderful to have a vegan option in this area.

Came up from Durham, NC to visit my family. Not a full on vegetarian since I still eat fish, eggs, and dairy but I have come to appreciate tofu and some of the fake meat options for vegetarians/vegans. My mom found out about this place from someone at work. Apparently, the spring rolls are developing quite a following. Wasn’t sure what to expect since I grew up near Youngstown Ohio and haven’t heard of a vegan restaurant in the area ever since I left in 1995. This place was great! Very, very small. Could call it cozy especially if you want to stay there to eat. Everyone was very friendly and more than happy to spend some time chatting with us about their menu. We had the spring rolls which were awesome. I think anyone reading a few reviews here would already know that, but they did live up to their reputation. Also had a surprisingly delicious«steak» sandwich! I think they used fresh bread from the place next door. It was so good, I bought a second one to go to take on our road trip back to NC. Didn’t eat it until a couple of days later but it held up well and was a lot better than stopping to get another disappointing veggie sub from some fast food place! On word of caution, the menu rotates, so they don’t have the«steak» sandwich every day. The other things we had were the roasted golden beet salad that was great, and a soup with cannellini beans and spinach that was a nice complement to the«steak» sandwich, and we also got a cookie to go that was scrumptious! And all of it was VEGAN! SOAWESOME! I wish we had a place as good as this in Durham. We have a few but I haven’t had anything as good as this since I cut back on the meat in my diet. I hope they do well and I hope they’re there the next time we come to visit!

I am not a vegetarian or a vegan but still think this is the best food in the Youngstown area! Love it and would encourage anyone to try the food eve if you are not a vegan. Remember this is «to go». There is a microwave to heat up you soup, if you want to sit there in their cozy atmosphere and eat.

I am so excited that I finally had a chance to stop here today! I’m an immediate addict. The staff — so friendly and informative. The food — so hard to pick just one thing! We went with the spring rolls and a lovely peach-lavender tea. I couldn’t wait to boast about this place to my friend that writes a well known vegan food blog, the Healthy Hoff. We just moved to the area and I have been struggling to find a place with my unique dietary concerns in mind, I can stop looking now! As the menu has already been emailed to me for tomorrow, I’m planning out my next stop. I’m afraid it may become a daily habit. One worth keeping.

Great to see Ely’s making it. Not a vegan but a healthy eater and love stopping here, driving across town, for the spring rolls. That’s about all I get so I should try some other things but can vouch for the lettuce-wrapped rolls filled with veggies and some tofu bits, which I love… don’t like just veggie. They come with a nice dipping sauce with a little tartness. Two for $ 4.50 is good, I usually get two packages to take home since I don’t get out there too often. Have gotten the muffins a couple times, wasn’t too impressed with them. seemed a little dry Not big portions for the price but it is quality. great to have this place in the valley. like it better than Flaming Ice Cube which I also frquent

This place is an unusual concept for a stripmall in suburban Youngstown, but I hope it points to a brighter future with healthy, from-scratch, vegan food all over the country. It’s a small café where you place your order at the counter and some of the food is brought to you, while some of it you just grab from a cooler case. They make simple foods, such as vegetable/tofu sandwiches and soups with options rotating daily. I was really impressed that they make their own bread, which is a rarity in the restaurant world. I just wish they offered a couple more sandwich and soup options; the day I went I had some kind of a tofu sandwich, but it would have been nice to have a homemade seitan option, or some kind of a TLT. I also got a tasty lentil soup but, bizarrely, the soup is cold and sits in a cooler case. If you want hot soup, you have to pop the paper container in the microwave next to the napkins and heat it up yourself. This do-it-yourself microwave action did not match with the otherwise elegant atmosphere of the café(wicker chairs, flowers, lots of sunshine). Lastly, I had a great muffin here as well. All in all, Ely’s To Go is a great option for a quick, healthy and tasty lunch.
