First, this is not for the brick and mortar store, its for the cookies they sell through cookies of the month. I am glad I received the three month subscription as a Christmas gift. The thought is what counts even when the gift turns out bad. If I had paid for these cookies I would be furious. Second box came today. Like the first box, every cookie was broken, there are more crumbs than chunks. Sugar cookie is stale and tastes more like flour than butter-sugar. Peanut butter chocolate dipped cookie looked promising. I can’t figure out the after taste, is it baking soda or hopelessness. Maybe the store has fresh, tasty cookies and cakes but this box is hitting the trash after four bites.

Each time I visit the Classic Bakery I leave a happy customer. There are a variety of fresh baked breads, sweet rolls, cakes, pies, and everyone’s favorite, cookies, for all to enjoy. Price 5⁄5 Inexpensive. A slice of my favorite banana cake is only $ 1.89. Quality 5⁄5. Consistently good. These baked goods have withstood the test of time. I’ve eaten here many times over the years. Each time, the taste, portion, and overall quality have not changed. I really like supporting locally owned businesses. It brings money back to the community and keeps the flavors we’ve grown to love around for all to enjoy. Whether you’re in need of Sunday dinner rolls or a sweet treat, this the bakery for you.

I live in Florida now… But I’m a y-town native and I’m completely addicted to the Classic Bakery chocolate cream stick donuts. Every time I’m home for a visit I make it a point to go to Classic just about every day I’m there, first thing in the morning. And I even get some before I come back to Florida to take with me. Yeah, my addiction to these donuts is quite ridiculous. Try one… I dare you… It’ll change your life forever.

I have ordered cakes from Classic Bakery for many years. They did a fine job on my wedding cake almost 20 years ago, and I’ve continued to support them over the years. The almond torte cake or peach chiffon cakes are our family’s favorites. It’s true that this place is pretty traditional and predictable in its offerings, which might turn off the foodies, but bear in mind that the prices here are much more reasonable than the fancier competition. Sure, the ladies can sometimes be grumpy or short with you, but who cares? Wouldn’t you be cranky if you had to deal with slow choosers and were on your feet all day? Seriously, the workers have always treated me with respect, which is all I ask. I don’t usually look for BFFs at the cookie counter.

I called to order Kolache to get sent to Houston where I now live where my mom lives with me who is ill. My Mom used to make kolache at xmas but is too sick to do that so I wanted to get some for us as a family tradition. Someone named, I believe, Sherry was so rude to me yelling when I asked her a question. She said I couldn’t get any. I asked of other places/grocery stores in the area that make them. She said she doesn’t know any stores in the area because she lives 20 minutes away!!! She was unbelieveably rude and not helpful. There are no places in Houston that sell Kolache. Wish the owner would realize how she treats customers. Of course, I never got Kolache and never got a return phone call from the owner after leaving my phone number with«Sherry».

Agreeing with the 1 star review that many people will come up and ask what you want constantly. They were all polite though. I got a dozen of the cookies to try out and made sure each was a different kind so I could get a good sampling of what they offered. All were quite delicious and fun tasting! I also got a muffin that was to die for and tasted my friend’s cannoli. I am so addicted to cannolis and theirs had a great and unique taste. Next to try? The breads and bagels for my carb kick!

The single star is only because the white almond cake here is actually quite good. We used to get one for all our family events & birthdays. However, I cannot & will not give my money to a place with such horrible customer service. I stopped by today on a whim. As soon as I walked in, an abrasive old woman asked what I wanted. I told her I was just looking, for the time being. A minute later, a different woman asked if I had been helped. The first woman answered FOR me, barking«She’s just looking!» A few minutes later I decided what I wanted and placed my order with another employee. She went to assemble a box, and the first woman walks over to her and says«I ASKED her if she wanted anything when she walked in, and she said she was JUSTLOOKING!» I had NOIDEA bakery etiquette dictates that you MUST know EXACTLY what you want the MOMENT you set foot in the door *eye roll*. I left without purchasing anything. After discussing this with local friends, they agree that it’s pretty much standard M.O. for this place. Working in a service-based job for the past twelve years, this kind of thing does not fly with me. If you’re in Boardman/Youngstown and you want baked goods but don’t enjoy being treated like crap, skip this place and go down the street to Clarancedale Cake. Their stuff is always good, and the people behind the counter are ALWAYS friendly & pleasant.

This review is for their cake only, because that’s all I’ve had from here. It is… awesome! Their delicious Red Velvet comes with delicious cream cheese frosting. Normally the frosting has nuts in it(pecans, I think). I prefer mine w/o nuts though. Their other stuff looks delicious too… it’s just soo far away from where I live, so I just get the cake on my b-day. Letter grade: A —
