Walk was very easy and the sequoia really impressive. Too bad that you cannot loop a little more and get back to the exact same path on your way back

Early in the morning, I drive through Tuolumne Meadows, not thinking much other than being a meadow. But, with the fog lifting part way through the tree line, it was one of those slam on the breaks must stop for picture moments. Looking across the landscape, I felt at peace. A few birds fluttering here and there, tree tops breaking through the fog, sun rays poking through the branches, the quietness of it all, was beautiful. It felt like the hidden treasure of the park. I wish I was able to spend more time here.

Great spot to stop and hike/see some of nature’s wonders. The hike to the trees is all downhill — maybe a mile or more on a nice, paved road. The road actually has some history as being one of the first logging roads. At the bottom, you see many giant sequoias as well as a dead one with a hole cut in it. This is a fairly quick hike as long as you’re fit. The hike back up is quite strenuous seeing as it’s all uphill and you gain about 400 ft elevation. We did it in about an hour after taking pictures and sightseeing. Definitely worth stopping to see. The giant sequoias are just breathtaking.

Looking for a nice, tranquil, easy hike to see some mind-blowing trees? The Tuolumne Grove might be just right for you! We stopped by the Grove on our way from Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley. While the actual Grove trail is relatively flat, the initial hike from the parking lot to the trees is pretty steep — there weren’t many happy faces coming back up the winding hill. I wouldn’t recommend flip flops as the ideal footwear for this hike. There are only a couple of sequoias in the Grove but they are pretty easy to spot since they are pretty humongous and there are maps showing where they are. The trail at the bottom passes through the trunk of a dead sequoia which is a super popular photo spot. We also took a break at the picnic benches at the bottom for lunch, which was super relaxing as the trees overhead provided ample cover from the summer sun. I definitely enjoyed the hike due to the fact that there weren’t any huge crowds while we were here unlike other Yosemite landmarks. Definitely a recommended spot in beautiful Yosemite!
