Service ok food above average hate to give it 3 stars but we have been there many times you would think the people running the place would remember who you are even after leaving well above average tips.

Just went there for New Years Eve I’ve been going to this restaurant for many years, It never ever disappoints. The ambiance, wait staff and of course the food are consistently great. Often you will see the owner Jon Pratt either greeting or saying good-bye to patrons with a warmth that makes you feel like family. If you’re a picky person like me, this is the restaurant for you.

Well, while I have really enjoyed eating at Peter Pratt’s meals and the downstairs ambiance in the past, I regret to say that it has been missing the mark the last couple visits. While the menu is varied and has nice choices — both the service and overall flavor of the food needs to be dialed-up to better match the prices. Unfortunately it was our entire party that felt this way, so it was not just a single disappointing dish. Rooting for Peter Pratt’s to get back on track — but for now we will not be going back.

I was so excited to come here for dinner after looking at the drool worthy menu and reading fantastic reviews; but alas maybe I should have expected the dinner to be underwhelming since it was for a drug rep event. We arrived to pre-plated salads and no menus to describe what was for dinner so I was awaiting the surprise. Salad was mediocre at best, dressing not even memorable for me to comment about. Dinner was served after an hour and it was a glazed chicken leg-thigh-breast over mashed potatoes and green beans. Whomp whomp. I mean not that i was expecting the lobster rizotto or some lamb or venison but I truly was hoping for something a little more than just run of the mill. Dessert was a double cream type dollop with a piece of rich, dense chocolate cake, altho it had some sort of odd flavor I recognize yet still cannot put my finger on. The worst part of the evening tho had to be the chairs we were sitting on. It was as if my butt was planted on quarried granite. Took me an hour after we left for the pain in my ass… literally… to subside. I can’t imagine how the other ppl felt, considering I was the youngest there and in a significant amount of discomfort. I want to give this place another try in an individual, dinner type setting of course. I think I will have to ask Robert C to give some recommendations so I can redeem this review. The events I see from posted pictures look quite nice so I’ll have to return to give it another whirl.

We held our rehearsal dinner at Peter Pratt’s this fall and can’t recommend it highly enough. The house itself is beautiful and the private room was just what we were looking for. It felt so magical driving up to such a beautiful place on a crisp fall night. The buffet we selected was fantastic – our guests kept raving about it days later – and the service was truly exceptional. The servers were so warm and accommodating – they really went the extra mile to make it the perfect night for us all. Highly recommend for a private event – even the pricing was very reasonable. Hope we get to return to dine in the downstairs area sometime soon – such a romantic space!

Very accommodating for a large party(including adults and children). Food was very good. Everyone at our table was very happy with their appetizers, entrees and desserts. Staff was polite, accommodating and very personable. Pricey, but worth it!

Atmosphere was beautiful food was excellent. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The only thing I would work on would be the waiter service. They were not attentive enough. It was a lovely Thanksgiving.

The food, service and atmosphere are outstanding. The place is historical and i love sitting by the fireplace during the cold weather. The summer BBQ is very convenient for a night out with family and friends. If I had the money, I think, this would be my 2 to 3x per week spot.

I have been here many times before, and I will do so again. This place usually hits bulls eyes, but on occasion it is on a four star level. However, the many other wonderful trips redeemed its last star. The mashed potatoes are wonderful, and the garlic bread, while appearing rather below average, tastes great. Their steak is always amazing, and the Maine lobster is astounding every time. The menu change with the seasons, so they won’t always have the same appetizers. But they are all delicious. The desserts are always changing and never fail to impress, even though some choices might sound a bit strange. A little pricey, but understandable considering the quality of the food. I hope this place continues to thrive!

We decided to drive up past the run around of New York City and enjoy and relaxing early dinner with a view of as much green as possible. As we drove, we Unilocaled on our mobile and found that Peter Pratt’s inn had some great desserts. Once we arrived to the scenic area, we just decided to relax and little longer and try the dinner. I had the Lamb T-bone and my girlfriend had the Salmon. It was delicious and well-worth the trip. The desserts were great as well and seemed to be homemade. We will definitely be back again.

The special was some sort of homemade pasta with a short rib ragu sauce which I gobbled up gladly. The space is historic and charming, the staff very friendly and knowledgable. I asked for a wine recommendation and our server nailed it. The bar is cozy and charming. They don’t have Hendricks Gin though. Boo hiss

Had seen this place on Unilocal but when my man Nick Dipaolo mentioned on his podcast that he had went here, I had to go. The servers, Megan and Tom, were polite, attentive and had a good sense of humor. The place is historical, very old, yet quite charming. Every dish ordered at the table was great. The Waygu burger and BBQ chicken were the stars, along with the donuts for dessert and the hen of the woods(mushroom) soup. I asked about a dessert I saw in one of the Unilocal pics which wasn’t on the menu and for the first time in my life I ordered an off the menu item. I was quite proud of myself. Anyway, the place is not cheap, but with that said, I’ll be back many times.

I’ve been to Peter Pratt’s 3 – 4 times over the years, including Valentine’s Day twice — it’s been uneven until last Feb 14 — when it finally earned its 5-star rating. The food was amazing(rack of lamb), the service was perfect(on their busiest day of the year), and the dessert was to die for(chocolate cake). The wine was great too. A truly wonderful dining experience. Treat yourself.

Beware of desert. The location of the restaurant is very nice. The service was good. Enjoyed the meal up until the point of desert. In the goat ice cream there was a piece of what appeared to be glass. The waiter at first stated that he thought it was glass. It was one inch long, clear and thick. He brought it over to the manager who told him that it was just a piece of plastic from the container that the ice cream came in. It definitely was glass and not plastic. It doesn’t matter what it was it still could have caused problems if it had been swallowed. The only thing that was done for us was that they didn’t charge for the ice cream which they took back. No apologies for the foreign object in the ice cream were given by management. The meal was over $ 175 for three people which is not cheap by any means.

I’ve been wanting to try out Peter Pratt’s for quite awhile and finally came on Saturday for my Birthday. The only downside was that they lost our reservation(thank God we called that day to confirm or we wouldn’t have known). Thankfully we were able to be seated at 7:30 with no issues. The food was wonderful; pizetti and pumpkin«gnudi» ravioli as starters, filet and duck as entrees and apple cobbler and peanut butter mousse pie for dessert. Even though the food is on the slightly pricier side, people come dressed much more casually. I saw a couple people in sweatshirts, a lot of people were in jeans(including the servers) while others were in slacks with a button down.

Being that there has been an executive chef change here, I thought it would be good to update my review. I am happy to report the food is at the same high quality level under new chef E. Bryce Baird, and he has added some of his own touches to both«old» and new menu items. Last night, the lobster and crawfish cakes(appetizer) were simply delicious — light and not oily, and accompanied with fresh micro greens and a tasty aioli. My entrée, a seared tuna with a soy glaze atop a citrus rice was delicious. I posted a photo of the latest dessert menu, but avoided the temptation for the most part, sticking with the tangerine sorbet(and a little scoop of vanilla ice cream). The breadth of the mneu has expanded a bit, so there is sure to be something to your liking. Bön appetite!

I have always wanted to try Peter Pratt’s and finally did for my birthday. I couldn’t wait to get home and write this review. This is, simply put, the best restaurant around. The place itself exudes charm. I had the duck, fiancé the Delmonico steak and my mother the lamb shank… All were prepared perfectly and layered with flavor. The warm apple crisp with homemade ice cream was equally as delicious. A can’t miss kind of place. Well done.
