Well this is my first ever review, so here it goes. This is a small neighborhood tavern with of course, a neighborhood feel inside. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. I ordered the BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp for an appetizer. It came out with a nice presentation which I didn’t expect. Anything with bacon should be good and this was. The BBQ sauce wasn’t overbearing and it came with 4 bacon wrapped shrimp which were, I guess, short of jumbo size. For my entrée I ordered the 7 oz. Filet(medium rare) which came with 2 sides(went with grilled mushrooms and house salad). The filet was grilled perfectly and was nice and juicy. My only complaint, and it’s only nit-picking, is that there was no seasoning on the filet to give it that extra flavor, but overall it was pretty good. Based on this, I would assume most stuff off their menu is good and I would return here if I was ever in the area again. Hope this review helps.

My fiancé and I were visiting a friend in York and we wanted to try something new(we never do that) and local so we saw that this place had good reviews and decided to try it out. The interior could use some updating but the staff was super friendly and the food was decently priced and super delicious. I got the filet mignon which came out more so medium rare when I ordered medium, but it was so good either way. Even the Caesar salad that came on the side was one of the best my fiancé and I ever had. We will definitely be back when we come back in town!

Food was excellent, Jeff the bartender is constantly moving, we never wait for anything. Specials are awesome but I would also recommend the 475 burger, smothered in mushrooms and just $ 4.75. Wings and poppers spot on. Friendly locals, my wife and I will be back.

This restaurant is okay, we ate there as guests of friends. Their signature dish, prime rib is good but not really a great value for the price. The balance of menu is closer to bar food than one might expect from the prices charged. The atmosphere is loud and bar like throughout. Basically, they are trading on their reputation for«great» prime rib from 20 years ago.

It was so so. Order got mixed up a few times. My filet was at the right temp, my partner’s filet was way too pink. Had to send it back to cook a bit more even though the initial order was medium well. The pasta dishes, we could have done without. Nothing exceptional. Will I visit again? Doubtful.

Great local neighborhood joint for dinner or for grabbing drinks from the bar. The bar has a great old school, friendly vibe. Prime rib is solid.

The prime rib is perfect. I am a meat purest and this is the best prime rib I’ve ever eaten, the flavor comes from the meat not a lot of herbs and spices rubbed on to cover up the flavor a the meat itself. Cooked to perfection and served hot, as well as the sides, fresh and delicious. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. We were there on a Saturday night and the only draw back is that it is a very small dining area and quite noisy, but the food makes up for the atmosphere.

Holy Cow! Went here while at an event at the York Fairgrounds. Saturday from 12 – 3 they have $ 1BBQ Pit sandwiches. Get 2, they’re that good. Some of the best I’ve had in a really long time. Also had a crock of French onion soup. Once again they nailed it. I was really impressed. If you haven’t been here, check it out. You won’t regret it.

Went for dinner the other night, was a little skeptical about the outside appearance. Went inside and was amazed at the staff and layout. Had a great dinner, waitress was awesome and was very informative. I highly recommend the prime rib! It was perfect and fairly priced. I will make this one of my regular dinner stops!

I grew up eating here. Coomb’s is a local hole in the wall. I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad meal! We normally order the scallops wrapped in bacon and honey, which are definitely DELICIOUS! I almost always get the fried haddock — melts in your mouth — and my husband gets the New York strip or Delmonico. Their salads are fresh and NOT iceberg lettuce. Pretty sure they make their own croutons. Plus we’ve always pleased with the drinks. I’ve never been to the bar section, but I’m kind of okay with that. The seating is intimate and they really can’t hold too many parties, but it’s worth going. Parking is on the street and difficult at times, but don’t let that stop you from eating here!

The service was good and so was the food. The seafood(like my scallops) did not have the proper sear on them. This is York and not a culinary mecca so I was pleased. I believe it is worth trying.

Service: The service at the bar/restaurant was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The service at this restaurant gets five stars. Food. The food was very good. The value to quality of food here gets four stars. The crab cakes were excellent. Ambience: This is a neighborhood bar/restaurant. However the ambience is more of a bar than restaurant. The ambience gets three stars if you are looking for a local bar. This is NOT a white table restaurant.

This is certainly a dive bar filled with«regulars». No complaints, but not a place I would bother with more than once. If seemed to be they were trying to be a restaurant(specializing in seafood and steaks) but it is clearly a bar that happens to serve food instead of a restaurant that serves booze.

Was looking for a place for my wife and son to eat while we were staying in the area over a long weekend, and read about Coombs Tavern on Unilocal.Of course we had to try it out… we were primarily looking for good seafood, which I wasn’t convinced we’d find in central PA. We came in just shy of 6pm, and were seated quickly(there wasn’t hardly anyone in the place) and ordered a Crab-stuffed mushroom appetizer. Delicious! and very reasonably priced. My wife ordered the broiled seafood combo(fish, scallops, shrimp, and crab cake) and I had an order of wings, and we split it all. My son shared our food, and he ate everything we put in front of him. The food was prepared well and was fresh and delicious. The servers were friendly and accomodating. Overall a great experience. By the time we were leaving the place was filling up. Highly recommended if you want great food in a cozy, hometown atmosphere for a great price.

Found this place through Unilocal(of course). Passable food, certainly nothing special. But very friendly«Friends» like atmosphere at the bar. Dining room looked bare bones basic — no thanks. In ordered a fancy special entrée and it was awwwwrite. Next time I will order the wings. They looked good — and cheaper too!
