Ordered 4 yards compost. Delivered. It looked short; they said was 4yard. That evening I raked out to 10ftx10ftx1ft. Using measuring stick to confirm uniformity of depth. about ¹⁄₃ yard short. Then. Who has heard of compost without 1 single worm??? It is dyed and has lots of sticks in it. and there was also some non-​organic debris in it. Very disappointed. Do I want to grow veggies in this? No not really. $ 200 and now not even sure if this is healthy stuff to grow veggies in!!!

As a seasonal resident of York I am a long-​time customer of Coastal, and I definitely recommend them. This is a family-​owned and operated business with helpful, knowledgeable staff. They’ve assisted me with everything from surviving groundhogs to identifying «mystery» plants and treating various bug and blight infestations. Their plant materials are locally grown and Maine winter hearty. They always have a nice selection of plants to choose from, and their garden accessories, from decorative items to tools and plant hangers are good quality and surprisingly original and interesting. Annuals are beautiful. Shrubs and trees are lovely as well! While they are small-​ish, they do a great job meeting the local gardening needs. Definitely worth a visit. 5 stars for what they are — a great local resource for the southern Maine gardener.

Ordered 5 yards of mulch delivered today. I wasn’t home but left struck instruction to place the mulch on a trap on the stone driveway. They were going to provide the tarp. Have you ever tried to get mulch out of a stone driveway… I can now say that I have, it will never look the same. They were suppose to provide a tarp large enough for all of the mulch not ½ of it! I didn’t care what the cost was… I think the tarp is 8 by 6 that was used. They needed to use a 20 by 10 at least. Really not happy with the professionalism. When I called to inquire about it, all I heard was excuses and no remorse. The woman kept saying we did our best… well your best, isn’t good enough for my business.
