Rio Java is perfectly located as a destination on the walking/biking trail along the Santa Ana River. My friends and I had stopped there before for just coffee which was great, but this time, we decided to get some treats to share as well. We got the Jalapeño cheese bagel which was really good, but then we ordered the Eggs Benedict– WOW! I know it sounds weird for Eggs Benedict, but these are made with some of the best pulled pork I have ever tasted and served on a Columbian corn masa cake– the combination was to die for! The very personable Chef Michael serves them with some of the best O’Brien potatoes I have ever had(its magic how they are so crisp!), and fresh fruit. I can’t wait to come back and try some sandwiches and smoothies!

So i came here yesterday and the owner said if i like the sandwich i ordered, if i can give a review on Unilocal,so that’s what I’m doing. If haven’t been here, i HIGHLY recommend you go and get you a sandwich. Literally, one of the best sandwiches i ever had. Plus the owner is super nice.

New owners, remodeled and much nicer. New menu. Gave it a try today. People were nice. And, food was just what I wanted. We needed a good coffee shop on this side of town.

This was not amazing. The selection was a bagel, doughnut, or sleeve of doughnuts and the staff didn’t know how to make a latte. Not great.

What a great spot! New owners have really put a lot of love into the location. Very impressed. They are a family run coffee shop with quality and service. Simple and easy with nothing to complain about. Their coffee was great, and their shop is cozy and inviting. My new spot for my morning commute. Can’t wait to see what they have planned for the future!

The New ownership has made a huge difference in here! The makeover was much needed! It’s becoming a place to actually go hang out and looks like live music now! The coffee is GREAT and they keep bringing in new food items!

Rio is an excellent place for a cup of coffee(I like the flavored coffee) and a toasted bagel(I like it with butter). The staff is super friendly and service great. The atmosphere is perfect for catching up on the news or getting some work done.

I will not be coming back. I miss the previous owners. They were very nice. They made the best sandwiches and would stuff them full. Today I ordered a sandwich and it had very little of each ingredient, and the bread was old. Not only that, the brother of the owner was talking about how they have made the store better by buying new coffee making machines and that there is now better coffee and you can get it yourself, then he proceeded to say, «this is family owned now, no more orientals». My husband is Asian… he said the wrong thing to the wrong person. I predict the Rio Java will not last long. Definitely a whole different vibe. :(

Changed ownership and now food is pathetic. Small sandwich was 6.95!!! Don’t have soup even though it says«soup» in two places outside window.

Wow! I am not one to post complaints but I had the worst experience here today. I walked in here to grab lunch and a coffee while I waited for my appointment a few doors down. I sat down at a table for about 2 mins to respond by text to my clients. I was planning on ordering after I finished a quick text but the Owner rudely interrupted me and was demanding that I order something. I told her that I wasn’t ready yet and she stomped off and stood behind the counter giving me the evil eye for a very awkwardly long time! Unbelievable! This behavior explains why the place was completely empty except for one other woman. I believe in supporting local businesses but the woman that owns this place is absurdly rude. I walked out and will not be going back.

Excellent coffee, great relaxing vibes, and personally ive always enjoyed the combination of a great latte and a deli sandwitch. Only complaint is wifi is secured and not open, or maybe theres none at all, im not sure. And the coffee is priced right, but the latte, capu, and espressos are a little much, about 3.50 $. However theres more froth, foam, and caffine buzz than compared to starbux. And the guy behind the counter is chill. Good place to kick it, especially during a car wash. Ill be back for sure!

This place is amazing and is located in a tiny plaza in Yorba kinda. Honestly it’s hard to find sandwiches with such high quality and taste. They also have the Best breakfast meals I have ever had, along with their smoothies. The workers here are great and super friendly and they make you feel at home. They try to know your name and know you as a person not just a customer. I recommend this place 10⁄10!

Regretfully, I will never eat at Rio Java again. While waiting for my husband’s car to get washed, I wanted to find a more comfortable place to sit and read a magazine. While I wasn’t ordering a sandwich on this occasion, I was definitely planning on the next time my husband and I would come back to enjoy a sandwich. No sooner than I sat down, an Asian women appeared asking me if I was going to order anything. She clearly did not like my response when I told her that I was just relaxing. She proceeded to demean me and say, «Who do you think you are to just come in and sit here. This is for paying customers only!» I have never been treated like this and was in a pure state of shock. The way this lady treated me made me feel so unwelcomed. The sad thing is that I love their sandwiches. I am a kind, easy going person but for a business owner to talk to me in such a disrespectful way is the rudest thing I’ve ever encountered. You know, if I would have had a chance to sit long enough I would have want to buy an ice tea. Because of this women’s attitude, Rio Java has lost two future customers. Sadly, this is the first bad review I have ever written and I hope it’s my last.

I’ve been going to Rio Java for a very long time, Yes it is a Mom and Pop place and I love how they treat me as a customer and I LOVE the FOOD they serve. The sandwiches are the BOMB, very good in every which way. They are so full-feeling. I am reading all these bad reviews, people now a days want free things. Nothing is free anymore. They are very nice to their customers, what I like most is they remember most everyone’s name that comes into their place. While there I was surprised to only see mooching going on. Lots of cyclists and runners frequently stop by along the Santa Ana river asking for free water in cups and bathrooms. I sympathize for the owners of this place. It’s seems there’s more mooching than customer traffic. During my last visit, I was the only paying customer. Those who complain on Unilocal about this place I’d bet have never actually tasted their food. I don’t like how people can sit here on Unilocal or any other place and write bad reports about things, if they really deserve it OK but just because you don’t get what you want for free don’t be mean. Everyone has to work no a days nothing is free. I am sorry to say as you walk Rio Java it says on the door bathrooms are for the customers only, they are giving you fair warning. You guys keep up the good work. Food, Coffee, Bagels, Sandwiches everything there is very good as well as their manners. Thank You.
