Sports Authority

Sports «Authority»…yeah, authority at what? Authority at stocking only one brand of a particular item? Authority at not having anything in stock for weeks at a time? Because that’s what I’d consider this location being an actual authority on and not much else.
So yes, I’ve been coming to this location on and off for years. It’s mostly out of desperation the last few years in fact. Recently I visited it’s sister store in Elmsford, but I see that their problems are not limited to this location in general.
This location is pretty large. It’s located in that crap indoor mall at Cross County and is really the only reason I’d even consider going there in the first place. The parking lot is indoors for the mall and is usually predictably messy in the spots closest to the entrances since people are allergic to walking a few extra feet. It’s usually never crowded… in fact, I can probably count on one hand how many customers are inside most of the times I come here — which is fine by me. Everything is neat for the most part.
One problem that they have is stocking — or lack of it. Lots of empty areas. Another issue is that on some items, the choices are extremely limiting. At times they only have one brand name without options, which is stupid and only forced people like myself to just go elsewhere. I get it, baseball is more popular than mma — but be an «authority» and just have a few options at least for the mma patrons. Other items are just not on the shelf to even know the difference. There is ample clothing selections however.
I used to come here for sneakers since they were decently priced at opposed to most other locations — even if the choices were weaker. But I guess they wanted to be like everyone else and they raised their prices with that.
The staff is just there. They’re mostly not too friendly, but once in a rare while I’ll have a cashier who’s halfway friendly.
I checked in here using the Unilocal app and was given an instant coupon to use — but it was months expired and therefore useless. I’d say thanks for the attempted effort, but when something so simple is not paid attention to, it kind of gives me a lack of faith for the business in general.

I like this Sport’s Authority compared to the two in Manhattan because they have sales on Burton’s and NorthFace’s outerwear!!!
