The four star review is an average, Five stars for the Irish breakfast, eggs, black and white puddings, rasher, brown bread, potato bread. Better than you’ll make at home. But I broke the spell by having lunch. A bland creamy vegetable soup, made palatable by adding seasoning that should have been there in the first place. The brown bread served with it was nice. Chicken pot pie that arrived a bit quickly, perfectly round on a dinner plate(not in its own casserole or ramekin), and was too dry. Was it pre-made? I can’t say for sure. UNlike the soup it was well seasoned, The fries that accompanied the chicken pot pie were spot-on, hot, crisp, with just a hint of oiliness. I’ll stick with the Irish breakfast.

Went with my husband a couple of days ago, going to go today. Food was pretty amazing: ordered Irish beans and eggs with the fresh made brown bread and he ordered this breakfast platter. We also ordered another fish of brown bread since the first was was soooo good. We had to wait a while for our check to come but there was only one waitress and 10 tables, not a big deal. Update: Went there a second time and I can see what people mean by the wait staff. Ordered our food got something different. I ordered the bacon and eggs on a roll and husband ordered eggs, tomato, beans, potatoes and mushrooms. I got what I ordered(because who can really mess that up). Husband got a tons of mushrooms and beans, but 1 egg(not eggs) two slices of tomato and no potatoes.

Great. Best black pudding on the emerald mile. Get the black pudding egg and cheese. It’ll change your life.

I pop in from time to time for the coffee. I think I would even go as far as giving the place 5STARS(on the coffee alone). The only thing, as I’ve read in some of the other reviews, is the«strange» atmosphere in the place! Don’t get me wrong… everyone is pretty friendly… WHEN you can get their attention! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked in, made my coffee, gone to the counter to pay & go, & they just seem to leave me standing there waiting, until they feel the time is right to acknowledge my presence. It’s just a little odd. There is usually a girl or two behind the counter, just like today. As I approached, it seemed at that very moment, the two ladies decided it was a good time to start up a conversation & then, at some point, decided they would allow me to pay. In their own time… Yeah, definitely a bit strange… Another time there was a girl standing right at the register & as soon as I got there, she turned her back & started doing something along the back counter for a few minutes before finally deciding to «notice» me. Customers DONOT seem to be a priority in this place… I almost feel like they are doing me some favor by allowing me to pay when they decide the time is right for them. Power trip, perhaps? Even with all that, what I do really like about the establishment is the little coffee station set up where you can make your own coffee to your liking. To me, that’s way better than a DD where you have to BEG for that extra cream & hope that they get it right! And, like I said, the coffee is really really good! Oh yeah… tried the cheesecake on one occasion & it was pretty good too!

I’ve been coming to this place for a while. Since I was a teenager. I liked it at first.. . But they never change up the menu. It’s always the same boring things. The waitresses are ok. not the best. but much friendlier than the ones down the block at kozy corner. The food needs MAJOR improving. But the desserts are really good. Especially the snickers pie and apple pie.

The food was delicious! However I really did not appreciate the chilly reception and frosty attitudes I experienced from the café’s patrons and servers. The delicious shephard’s pie saved this visit and I tried my best to ignore the disrespect. I do not think I will attend again due to the uncomfortable atmosphere :\ Café is located along a quaint Irish shopping district with many pubs, shops and groceries! Street parking, and you do not have to pay at the meter after 8PM.

My parents and I finally went here after a year or so of «We’re going TODAY“‘s on Sundays and not following up to those morning resolutions. Mom and dad barely glanced at the menu before ordering their predetermined decisions of Irish breakfasts($ 10.50 each, including 2 sausages, 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, white and blood sausage, fried tomatoes, french fries, and toast or brown bread) and coffees. I had the shepherd’s pie($ 9.95). Anglo food already is pretty average unless treated with extra special creativity and care by people like those at the Chip Shop in Brooklyn. You don’t go here for loud presentation or gourmet delicacies; you go here for the quiet Irish atmosphere and respective food. The Irish breakfasts looked filling and satisfying, my parents voiced such opinions. Get the brown bread! My shepherd’s pie was adequately salted(nothing worse than a bland shepherd’s pie) and fulfilling. Service was just right, not on top of you but available for water refills, drinks, check, etc. Come here for a homey experience!

Had a nice quick dinner at the Irish Coffee Shop. Great service. House salad was a nice portion for $ 3 and the tuna melt was quite filling. In and out in a few minutes for about $ 12.

I was in the area for a visit to the Empire City casino. Rather than eat the crappy food at the casino, I decided to venture out. The Irish Coffee Shop is a small restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We stopped in around 3pm for lunch. I was disappointed that they were out of Shepherd’s pie. I had fish and chips. The fish was good, but it was just two thin pieces and the fries were nothing special. The chicken pot pie was good. Lady at the next table had the Irish breakfast, which looked pretty good. The place wasn’t crowded but the service was a little inattentive. There were two, might I add very beautiful, Irish waitresses working but they weren’t at our table too much. The coffee was very good, which is a good thing considering the name of the place. All in all was a bit disappointed.

Came in here tonight for dinner. Place is not packed at all, a few tables thats it. The waiter was shy but very nice. Food was good this time,(Previous visits, food wasn’t so impressive), I had the Roast beef with steamed veggies and mashed potato. I loved everything on my plate, a big portion but definitely good! My two friends had chicken curry half and half, i tried the curry sauce, it was good too. Service was ok. Atmosphere is ok. Can’t really complain much!

The Irish Coffee Shop has revived my addiction to the Irish brefess fry up. So deliciously salty and greasy. The perfect weekend(or weekday) remedy for a hangover. I love that they offer brown bread as well as toast. Usually I go for the mini Irish, b/c I’m trying to pretend that’s the healthy choice. Delusional, I know, but it works for me. Anyhoo, I’ve never been here for any meal than breakfast, so I can’t provide any reviews on their other offerings. But if you are in the Woodlawn/McLean Ave border of the Bronx/Yonkers, bring your appetite and pack an extra artery — b/c you are gonna need one.
