I had an unbelievable experience at Central Park optical. The staff was friendly and the doctor was extremely knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and explained the benefits I had with my insurance. I got my frames here as well because the selection was great and they were ready within 5 days. Overall a great experience.

Dr. Lax and his team are amazing. I have never been treated so well in my life. They are friendly and make sure you get the best deal possible. Dr. Lax is a master at his craft and was able to detect a condition I had he quickly referred me to specialist that were just as good as he is.
I will continue to go to Central Park optical and refer as many people as possible everyone must experience their awesomeness!

Great service! I went to Central Park Optical with a Groupon and was very pleased with their care, pricing and and the selection of glasses for my 13 year old son. I bought my son two pairs of glasses with rx. After having the sports glasses for a week, he decided he didn’t like the way they felt. The owner took them back, no questions asked, and ordered 3 more pairs from a catalog for him to choose. My son is very happy with his glasses. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Dr. Lax impressed me when I first went there, so I brought my daughter in for her exam. The staff is very nice as well. I fortunately learned about them through a co-​worker.

Excellent establisment!!! The doctor is a first rate Gentleman. The staff is super friendly and VERY knowledgeable about the different types of plans. They showed me savings that I didn’t even know existed in my plan. They’re that customer centric! You’ll also notice that they’re one of those rare crews that won’t oversell you. Between the staff and doctor I was able to find the perfect wide fit titanium frames for my face.
Their prices are very fair too. I found their turnaround time to be very fast also.
The Doctor is the real gem here though. After another store messed up my prescription and made me mad. This Doctor took the time to make me happy, even going as far as giving me an additional eye exam free of charge. Who does that in this day and age?
This is my family’s new eye store. We’ll always go here from now on. What a first class establishment! Love them.
As a side note to all you Wiley X fans. This store has them. I’ll be getting mine worked on here from now on.

Central Park Optical is tucked in the back of a strip mall on Central Avenue near the Alamo Drafthouse Theater. I wish I had found them years ago. Dr. Lax is very experienced and he and his staff are welcoming and friendly. They take care of all the paperwork, are on time with everything, the selection is ample, and prices are modest. I made an appointment to bring my daughter to Dr. Lax for an eye exam next weekend which, for me, is the ultimate vote of confidence.

My eyes have been a constant battle for me. I had laser eye surgery by Dr Delarusso in New Jersey, back in the 90’s before the technology was available where Lasik was easy. Well after all these years .my eyesight has deteriorated a bit so its back to the glasses again.
Central Park Optical provided great customer care, the helped me find a style of glasses I liked and the glasses were ready in less than a week.

I was so disappointed in this place. The eye exam went well, then I was told the lenses alone were $ 150. i have never in my life heard of lenses costing this much. I didn’t even bother getting glasses, and they refused to give me the prescription so I could go somewhere else… wtf? Needless to say it was a waste of my time and energy.

As far as eye exams go, this place is great. Dr. Lax gave me a very comprehensive eye exam and answered all of questions with a smile. No rush, no attitude. He was also very chilled out in terms of me being a pain in the ass and trying a lot of different lens combinations.
Shame that the frame selection was a bit small as I couldn’t find what I wanted, but I still recommend the place wholeheartedly.

Dr. Lax is wonderful, and the other staff are so patient and friendly. I think I try on like 20 frames each time and they just wait with me and give great suggestions. My family has been coming here for the past five years or so.
One star off for frame selection (I have a smaller face… not freakishly childlike or anything… and not many frames are available in my size) but I realize this isn’t Lenscrafters or some other huge chain store, so it’s understandable.

Ok so here are the reasons why I love this place:
1. When you call, they take your insurance information and call you after they’ve verified your coverage (this is great because you don’t waste your time coming in only to find that they don’t take your insurance or there’s something wrong with your coverage).
2. The staff is so helpful! The girl behind the counter let me try on frames while I waited for my exam and, once I was done with that, I came out to find that she had picked out some other frames for me to try similar to the ones I was looking at.
3. Dr. Lax is nice, quick, and painless with his eye exams.
4. They have a great selection of frames and have the sections labeled by insurance.
5. They didn’t try to sell me any fancy frames or have me add on stuff that I don’t need. I ended up paying only $ 30 for my glasses!
I live all the way in the Bronx and came to this optical because it had the best reviews. I will definitely be coming back.

Lets just say you cannot go wrong with thee guys. They know what they are doing, and offer a large variety for prescription eye ware.

First time going here and I was definitely pleased. I walked in and was able to get an appointment the same day. After trying to shop around for a new eye doctor, Dr. Lax was great. Very personable and took his time to explain things. The staff was also very nice and willing to help patiently, as I know I can be fickle. Definitely will make this a keeper!

Dr. Lax is extremely helpful and the entire staff works hard and gets the work done efficiently. Can come in here and get your exam, glasses, contacts etc very expeditiously. I also appreciate that Dr. Lax does not add on extra unnecessary testing but still covers the important stuff — eg glaucoma testing (I’m a doctor — though not an ophthalmologist — so feel competent to evaluate his clinical approach)

I have been going to Central Park Optical for quite a few years and I have to say that I love the service I receive there. Dr. Lax gives a complete exam and is very patient throughout the process. Also, I like the fact that it’s rare when I have to wait long — definitely a plus as I only see him on Saturdays.
The only downside I have is their procedure for checking that your insurance is valid before you can make an appointment.

This is such a great office, Dr. Lax is so sweet and easily likable. I have been going here for about 5 years now, first as a glasses customer, then contacts, then laser. My experience has been so good that I referred my best friend here too, and she also loves it.

Wonderful establishment. Alan Lax is an expert optician. All the people who work there are extremely helpful and can select frames that fit your style in 2 seconds. The prices are reasonable and everyone goes out of their way to ensure you are well taken care of. One of the best I’ve very been to. If you’ve every felt a little ripped off by an optical store, this place is the exact opposite
