The restaurant had a very nice ambiance. We ordered the all white chicken and the whole catfish with sides of mashed potatoes, green beans and carrots. The side dishes were large with the carrots being the only one that was less than appetizing. They had been overcooked. Both the chicken and catfish were seasoned and cooked well. We had leftovers on almost everything. Yes, we will return to try some of the other menu items.

Big let down. I guess I kind of expected it. Just your average interstate truck stop fare and service. If you are looking for a homemade Amish or Mennonite experience in dining, this is not it. I guess I’m going to keep looking.

I’ve always wanted to stop by whenever I drove past for the state fair. I had a friend visiting from Arizona and took her to the Salt Mines. We planned a stop for lunch, and I am so glad we finally tried this place out. We had the fried catfish, which was whole and so juicy. It was probably the best catfish I’ve had at a restaurant. We also had the country fried steak. It was good, but not as good as the catfish. We also shared a cinnamon roll, and it was the size of the dinner plate. Sooooo good! If you’re ever in Yoder, definitely stop on for a great meal.

A nice place to stop when coming or going to Hutchinson. My husband and I had a wonderful breakfast that was simply outstanding. This little Amish restaurant, you get a lot for the money and we had wonderful service. We ordered cinnamon rolls and coffee cake to take home to the rest of the family and to enjoy some ourselves. Do go, it’s simply wonderful.

I visited family in KS in 2013. Drove over to Yoder to eat for a day out and about. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak dinner. It was NOTHOUSEBREADED as it used to be. I asked and they confirmed they were using pre-pkg’d Chicken Fried Steaks instead. Very sad. The overall meal was good, but still, I expected the real deal at the Carriage Crossing. The desserts are always good. sigh!

I ordered the fried chicken dinner for myself and a sirloin for my fiancé. Pre meal you get fresh tools with honey butter which satisfied my growling stomach, and sweet tooth. The fried chicken is on point… crispy, juicy and great flavor! The sirloin while not expecting much for the cheap cut was cooked to order and also had a great juicy flavor. The sides on the other hand were the downfall, everything ordered from our table seemed to be pre made or canned. Not tasty. It’s a good simple place to eat with friendly staff. 4 star main courses with 2 star sides. Oh and go ahead and get a pie

AMAZING! Chicken fried chicken with mashed potato & cream gravy, baked beans. Sooooooo amazingly good & completely down home cooking. The baked beans were perfect & my top fave. Sour cream raisin pie for dessert & if you haven’t had before — you NEED to! Not an easy pie to find. Super cute gift shop & everyone was very friendly. Service was as great as the food & we will be back.

This is THE place to go to after a long day at the State fair… Or pretty much when you’re near/in Yoder. It feels very homey and I really like the staff. Ask for what’s popular, and your waitress will give you more details. I especially like their country fried steak. For the two sides, I would recommend getting corn and fried sweet potato wedges! I am not a big fan of overly sweet things, but I hear they have delicious pies! I might just have to try a slice the next time I come back.

Quite tasty little place to stop and grab a home cooked style meal. Everyone recommends the fried chicken. Plenty of tasty pies to choose from and a decent sized gift shop with fresh made bread, jams, pickles, and gifts of all sorts. Staff is friendly. Ate the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn.(Also recommend the carrots) Nicely seasoned and quite tasty. Ate it all with just enough room to have a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. Quite tasty!

This is an outstanding place to get a tasty home cooked meal with friendly service; even though it’s off the beaten path from the interstate, it’s well worth the drive. Can’t say enough great things about the slow cooked roast beef dinner and home made pies – enough calories for a week, but love it! Buy some home made Pickles, jellies, etc from the gift shop before you leave – the best! I shall return

the chicken fried steak was great, very thick breading which personally i dont prefer but the meat was very tender and the gravy was delicious would give 4 stars if it werent for the pie; we went around dinnertime when a lot of the pies had already sold out so the strawberry cheesecake i ordered wasn’t fresh, but i shouldn’t have eaten it since it looked like it had melted sitting at room temperature and then put back in the fridge. must have been the case because a few hours later i was horribly sick, mild case of food poisoning. no one else had any problems. good food otherwise, careful of the dairy products. if it looks funky say something

Always a favorite restaurant. Select meats from Yoder Meats across the street. Quality comfort food any time of the day. Fried chicken is a must, as well as those homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. Menu is very affordable! Don’t forget to get your pie for dessert!!!

Pies are the best thing to come for, I had the turkey and it was in large chunks not sliced no cranberry sauce. Gravy was mad. I have had the chicken fried steak once it was sad my potato mash where brown. Vegetable soggy carrots. Green beans like they had no seasoning just heat up a can. I will come back and order a pie. I have been up for breakfast and the potatoes I would not order again the toast I will send back next time since it was not toast I had the roll and I never eat it and I love bread but I have not had one I would eat I would come back for a pie and I would only take a whole one home

Very full filling for every meal under $ 10.50. If they say a way to a mans heart than Carriage crossing has my heart. Not one complaint. From hospitality to the food, I give them 2 thumbs up!

By far the best pies in the state of Kansas. We had lunch and it was outstanding. Homemade and served by friendly staff. The only problem with pies is when they don’t have the flavor you want, but that just means they are that good! Don’t miss this little gem, especially if you are going to Kansas State Fair. Oh and make sure you check out the gift shop.

One of my favorites! Everything is always excellent. If you are craving down home comfort food, then this is your place. The fried green beans with ranch are to die for, as is the grilled chicken breast. The marinade for the chicken makes it so tender you can cut it with your fork and its melt in the mouth delicious. They also serve family style meals beginning with salads for all and your choice of meat/meats. In addition to that, your party is served bowls of mashed potatoes and other vegetables that are shared and passed around, as well as homemade bread and beverages. These meals are priced per person, depending on what meat/meats are chosen. They also offer various sandwiches and some seafood choices. Of course the pies are the highlight of the meal. Pies are sold by the slice or as whole pies. They always have numerous varieties to choose from including cream pies and fruit pies. They also sell enormous cinnamon rolls in the display case at the front near the register. I’ve never tried them myself, but they look amazing and are large enough to nearly feed the entire family. The service is very good as well and they have a very nice gift shop where they sell all kinds of things including Amish made baked and canned goods. As this is in Yoder, KS, you will surely see the Amish influence and some of the waitresses are Amish. There is also quaint shopping just around the corner in downtown Yoder, with various little shops to peruse. Definitely worth stopping in if you’ve got the chance.

I came in for a lupper. That’s a late lunch/early supper. The restaurant was luckily pretty empty and service was speedy. I had a chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans for sides. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender enough to cut with just a fork. The gravy was delicious. The potatoes and green beans were the perfect side dishes but weren’t anything special. I finished the meal with a slice of peach pie. It was good pie but not as good as my friend’s coconut-chocolate deliciousness. If I could do dessert again I’d go crazy with the pie choice, and that’s my recommendation to you. The place is really good and fairly priced but it wasn’t excellent or special and that’s why it only gets 3 stars.

3.5 stars. I’ve heard about this place for so long, and finally today, after a visit at the Salt Museum, made it out here for lunch. The menu impressed me as extremely well priced for some high quality ingredients. There’s nothing wrong with the final dishes either, it’s just that they weren’t outstanding. cinnamon bun– HUGE. And the other thing going for it was that it was not dry. Somehow, it was too bready though there was a ton of butter and icing on top(like literally, the butter separated from the icing). Roast Beef sandwich. I was going to order a BLT or grilled cheese, but thought that would’ve been a poor decision since Carriage Crossing was known for the freshness of its meat. So I ordered the roast beef. Poorly executed. The sandwich came out covered by a large lettuce, so the bread was quite soggy, though they had made the effort to toast it. Meat was not dry, but pretty tasteless. Fried chicken– Good, but portions were small. Fries and onion rings. Fried well. Baked beans. likely the best thing I ate. Not too sweet, though I would’ve liked to see some meat in there. Bread with cinnamon butter. Bread was so fresh and soft. Enjoyable. Strawberry pie. Good, but not enough to be highlighted. I’m glad to have eaten at this Hutch institution. Very reasonably priced solid food. And the service was very good.

The food is incredible. Homemade comfort foods. Whole Pies are half price after 7 pm. Veggies are the only thing a little iffy. However, the service can be slow, particularly for Saturday breakfast. Keep in mind when planning a visit.

You may never get to Yoder, Kansas, and if you don’t, my what a shame. This is an Amish restaurant that has exceptional food, exceptional service, and wicked good pies. They also have Amish crafts and foods. The rolls were fresh-baked whole wheat goodness, with the best cinnamon butter that I’ve ever tasted. Meals were freshly prepared and the meats and ingredients all come from top-grade local producers. Food preparation was homey greatness. The pies? Wow. Take your pick. They’re all good. It may look a bit like Cracker Barrel, to answer Erick H.‘s laments, but that’s about where the comparison stops. Hutchinson seems to be a local destination spot. If you’re here for the State Fair, the space museum, or whatever, you really should take the 10 min trip out to Yoder. Heck, I’d take the 40−50min. trip from Wichita!
