Great service and good food! The gentleman is very friendly and kind. The portions are good size and the price is excellent! It is off the beaten path a little however, worth the stop.

When you think of an unknown burger stand that is a secret, but has the best burgers ever… This is it. I told them not to change a thing. Quality meat, buns, fresh lettuce, tomato, and gooey melted cheese. Mix with a chocolate shake and crispy fries. So good. They need Heinz ketchup then… perfect.

Came here by accident trying to find a bathroom. The owner graciously let us use his bathroom without buying anything but the food was cheap so I chose to purchase a taco. The owner was super nice and friendly. As far as food goes it probably was the best«street» taco I’ve ever had. Definitely coming back.

We discovered this place by accident a couple of years ago while camping at the Calico KOA, camping here again, went to see if they were still open, just had the most satisfying Carne Asada plate(Styrofoam container) I have ever had! So good, I’ve had it two days in a row and probably will have it again. WELL Worth exiting highway 15 and visiting them on Yermo road. They close at 7:30pm and accept only Cash!

Finally tried the bean and cheese burrito that others have mentioned. The same as any bean and cheese burrito in 1,000 taco shops all over California. What’s the big deal? Their sign says that they are open until 7:30, but I have arrived at 7:10 to find the place completely abandoned. The other day I arrived at 7:14 and they were still there, but refused to fix me anything, not even a shake. Don’t bother getting off the freeway for this place. Just eat in Barstow where there are many more choices and they stay open through the posted hours.

Best milkshakes around. Burgers and fries are very good as well. In fact, I’ve never eaten anything from this place that wasn’t good. Bathroom was spotless. Service was great. Prices are more than fair. Great vintage vibe on old Hwy. 91 in Yermo. Perhaps a little run down looking but not«scary’. Good place to relax and enjoy your food outside, in peace.

Fantastic food. Stopped on our way to Vegas. Easy on off the 15. It is the original Del taco right off of Route 66. I had the burger very tempted to get another. Two adults and three hungry boys total came to about $ 28.00 and we all eat big. b

I drive between Vegas and Barstow fairly frequently, and in the past my go-to stop was in Baker. But someone recently told me that the first-ever Del Taco was«in Barstow,» and that I had to check it out as it was unlike any other Del Taco I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure if I misheard, or just misunderstood, but I took that to mean it was a super-fancy gourmet version of Del Taco. Either way, I’d been trying to find this legendary place for a few months. Since I’d been told it was in Barstow, I stopped at the Del Taco there once, and was sorely disappointed — it was like every other Del Taco, nothing special. I couldn’t remember who had told me about this in the first place, so I was stymied. Then a chance sighting on Instagram led to me THIS place, which I’m pretty sure is what whoever told me about it was talking about! It sure the fuck ain’t fancy or gourmet… but what it lacks in foodie cred, it more than makes up for with sun-baked desolate desert ambiance. An open-air drive-thru burger shack(it’s not a Del Taco anymore, but serves similar food) on a lonely stretch of desert highway, surrounded by abandoned gas stations and crumbling old buildings, straight out of 1962. I can just picture the meth-addled, leathery-skinned desert teens who have met and mated here over the years… like American Graffiti, Mogadishu Style. My sis and I shared a carne asada burrito, chili cheese fries, and some shakes. Everything was greasy and great! Food-wise, it was at most a minor cut above Del Taco… but honestly, food quality isn’t what sets this place apart. It’s the history and creepy ambiance!

Of course this place caught my eye on Unilocal because it was the original Del Taco! When we arrived, no one else was waiting. Peter ordered the hamburger combo(burger + fries + drink) and I ordered 2 carne asada tacos with a cookies n cream milkshake. Total was over $ 11. Unfortunately, they only take cash! I’m not sure what the dealio was because Unilocal says they accept credit card. Oh well. I had $ 9 cash and asked what I could get. Ended up not getting the milkshake & just shared Peter’s drink. A cup of ice water costs $ 0.50 :X Everything was tasty. The fries were FRESH. Nomz! To top it off, while we were eating, the fellas from Fort Irwin drove by and they waved at us woohoo! ‘Twas exciting!

My husband and I were starving on the way home from Vegas and couldn’t wait for the next big city. I Unilocaled Yermo, and the Burger Den came up. We gave it a go. I took the other Unilocalers advice and got the milkshake. SOGOOD! The owner was helpful and friendly. He said the secret to his milkshakes was making them by hand with fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, my homemade ones never turn out that good. We ended up with the cheeseburger combos, and they were hot and delish. Two combos and a milkshake for under $ 12! Great little place! We will be back next time we visit Vegas :)

If you want to support the local residents and have a good fast meal stop here. Friendly fast service with the local rustic drive thru flare. Tacos and burritos with a milkshake chaser. Yum!

I will quote a High Desert /San Bernardino County LEGEND on the Burger Den: «Bean, cheese burrito from burger den? EFFING boooommmbbb BRO!!» Not only is this the location of the very first & original Del Taco, they make bomb burritos. And if my boy BIGSAD approves of them, they clearly are booommmbbb

I am admitting right up front that I did not eat at Burger Den. I visited this location strictly for it’s Roadside Attraction value. This is the site of the original Del Taco, back when it was Casa Del Taco. If you care, you can check out the history of Del Taco( ), but my husband and I like both hitting up original locations of fast food joints and roadside attractions, so armed with our Del Taco cups from Baker, we stopped by for some photos. Yeah, it’s pretty run down and the lettering on the sign proclaiming the site of the original Del Taco is all but gone these days. The reviews say the food ain’t bad, so maybe next time we’ll actually grab a bite, but this time… we were back on the road.

Ever been in a situation where you thought that you would get murdered like in one of those texas chainsaw massacre movies? Yea I never did either until I came here. This place is in the middle of no where… yea yea whatever it’s the first del taco ever WHOCARES. My friend wanted to come here because it was different and so we decided to stop by on the way back home from Vegas and honestly I thought it was a waste of time and money. We went in August and that may have made my experience worse because all the seating is outside and I don’t know about you, but eating a burger in 100+ degree weather is not appetizing. We got the cheeseburger combo w/fries and a drink and the burger was a burger… nothing special about it. The bun wasn’t soft, the meat wasn’t seasoned great and was kind of tough, the cheese was kraft cheese, etc etc etc I’ll keep this short and sweet… don’t waste your time… drive another 15 – 20 minutes and go to in-n-out. You’ll thank me.

I’ve been wanting to check this place out during my countless drives from CA to LV, and finally decide its time. The service was very friendly. Had carne asada tacos w/cilantro, tomatoes, onions, sour cream and guac! The meat was really flavorful and tender. Not bad for $ 1.50 each. Also, because of the Unilocalings about the cookies & cream milkshake, I had one of those too. It was really tasty, not too sweet, nice & creamy! That was priced at $ 2.50! If you’re hungry, and passing through… I say give it a go! They have a combination of American staples with some Mexican thrown in! P. s. You can use it as a pit stop for the bathroom too. Just ask for the keys.

HIDDENGEMALERT! BESTCOOKIES-N-CREAMMILKSHAKEEVER! This place is one of my MANDATORY stops on the way to Vegas. It’s a small little shack in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by miles of dusty roads in the 3rd world town of Yermo! The food is pretty damn good, but I come here mainly for the milkshakes. They have a very extensive menu with burgers, tacos, sandwiches, burritos, etc. And just a side note… this little shack is the ORIGINAL place Del Taco. It all started from this location before it went big time! You can actually find the founder of Del Taco about 10 miles south. He actually owns and works at his own Del Taco of the Lenwood exit off the 15 freeway.
