Love Yelm Family Medicine. Dr. Dorhauer is one of the best doctors I have ever seen. Great bedside manner and never makes you feel uncomfortable. Call backs from the nursing staff(love Natalia sp?)are quick and they are amazing at getting lab, scans, etc results back to you most of the time within 24 hours. I would have given 5 stars but I will agree with some of the other reviews that wait time can be a factor at times, but I find that to be true with any medical facility, dentist, etc. I have never found the wait for the phone to be any longer than any other Dr. Office. Nice that the clinic has x-rays and lab work available in the same building. We have had to see other doctors at Yelm Family at times if needing to be seen during the evening or weekend extended hours(a huge plus) and have never had any negatives with them either. Love the small town feel.

I am so blessed to have a wonderful clinic in my own small town like Yelm Family medicine. I don’t understand the negative comment’s as i have never had anything but the greatest care there. I’ve been there 10 year’s, brought my 3 son’s(now adult’s), and now my baby girl is a new patient who will have her first visit next month with the best Dr ever~~ Dr Penn. I have been seen for multiple illnesses, a few injuries and I also have bipolar 2 depression disorder, Severe PTSD, Severe Panic disorder, and most recently recently, adult ADHD. Although they are not a psychiatric facility, Dr Penn has been able to manage and reduce my psych meds that were prescribed by my psychiatrist who dangerously over medicated me causing more harm than good. I went from 21 pills a day to 5, not because he’s a psychiatrist, because he researched every single med i was given and found out that I was being given medication for thing’s I didn’t even have as well as some that were dangerous being combined. My own psychiatrist didn’t know that. Now I am feeling so much better it’s unbelievable. I’ve had Dr’s unwilling to even see me because of the extent of my diagnoses. It’s so humiliating and hurtful. Dr Penn NEVER treats me like I’m different than anyone else, and I am beyond grateful for all he’s done for me. After so many year’s of being«dismissed» by every Dr i saw when I was truly physically ill being told that I was«just being bipolar» and sent home untreated and degraded, it’s a true blessing to have found a wonderful Dr like him who doesn’t believe the«stigma» behind bp disorder. I had an obstetrician see me when I couldn’t get in to see my regular Dr. She looked at My chart, saw the word’s «bipolar» and told me that she didn’t feel«comfortable» seeing a patient with bipolar and told me that I was was«selfish» having a baby(Who was a miracle, by the way), at my age(37) with a disorder i could possibly«pass down. «I was mortified and went home sobbing. That horrible Dr didn’t know i have bipolar 2 and hardly anything to worry about. I’m the kindest, most loving person ever. A terrific mom with 2 jobs and devoted to God and several ministries yet she acted like i was a crazy, dangerous person. How ignorant and horrifically prejudicial. I told my regular OB I was told not to see her and she was so appalled she reported her! I wouldn’t have done that myself because I’m so used to it. I’m sorry for rambling, I just needed to express my reasons for being so grateful for Dr Penn and YFM. I am not a «label» but a person now. God bless you Dr Penn.

One to Two hour waits to see primary, lost samples to be sent out for diagnosis, scripts not filled out correctly repeatedly. Just poorly run office. I went to Dr. Penn for over 20 years. The past two years he pretends to care. won’t put DEA number on scripts, the one and half to two hour waits when I was so sick or in extreme pain were common for him, I was on time for all my appointments. A good doctor should not treat his patients this way. The office manager Brenda Longmire says that Dr Penn is just getting through his day when my husband and I asked her about the lack of the DEA # on the scripts not once but three times it was rejected by our pharmacy and I made special trips to get it signed. Not good when you are so very sick. They need a new manager so this medical facility is run better. The lack of caring I saw in Dr. Penn the past couple years indicates he needs to maybe consider retiring. This whole facility is going downhill, use to be good, I rate it extremely poor now. Find another doctor and facility if you want True compassion and care.

The sad thing is it is the only large medical practice in yelm. This is the slowest office I have ever been to, it can take a half hour standing at the counter just to schedule your next appointment. Waiting there for that is better than trying to call in that can take longer if your lucky enough to not get disconnected. Make the drive out of town it will save you time in the long run.

Every, and I mean, every time you call the office there is a minimum 6 — 7 minute wait just to talk to someone. Next, when you show up for the appointment you scheduled, you’ll also have to wait… Usually at least 30 minutes. This place seems to be poorly run or they simply don’t respect patient’s time.

Great office! My husband and I both see Dr Lindsay and we love her! She’s a great listener and doesn’t just try to shove you out the door, instead she tries to figure out what’s actually WRONG and how to fix it. My daughter sees Dr Dorhauer and again, she really loves her! We’ve never had any issues when going to this office. Yes… it’s a doctor’s office and you’ll be expected to wait, but what office doesn’t make you wait these days? Personally it’s never been a concern of ours as long as we receive good care.

So we have known a couple of the dr’s here for over 30 years. And for over 30 years they make people wait. What is the sense of making an appointment if you have to wait over an hour before you see the dr anyway? I can understand it happening occasionally but every damn time? I mean if you felt good it wouldn’t be a big deal but who goes to the dr when they feel good? These dr’s have people trained to wait for them.
