Love this hotel — staff are incredibly friendly. Breakfast was lovely and Savanna at the front desk was a charm! Apparently the lights in our booked room weren’t working quite right, and she without question upgraded us to a king suite. Fun, contemporary style and lots of color in this hotel, plus great views of the rolling hills of corn fields. We will definitely be back here again!

We stayed here two nights during stopovers on the forward and return legs of a long road trip. On the plus side, their handout listing local restaurants is very thorough and gives clear directions. On the minus side, the hotel wifi wasn’t up to the task during(what I assume are) peak evening hours — we kept getting disconnected. That was a big problem for my wife, who needed to get work done. The rooms were OK, though the room we got the second night smelled a bit musty.

Perfectly located between Ohio and South Carolina, was a great stopping point in a very pretty area up in the Virginia mountains. Chances are you’ll end up meeting someone there who is either going to or coming from Myrtle, Charleston, or Hilton Head. A pretty new property, everything was very nice, and the staff were accomodating. The continental in the morning was decent, above average but not anything to write home about(are any of them?). The breakfast area was very nice and comfortable. Rooms were clean, and we had no problems with noise, access, check in, check out, etc. There isn’t too much to say, which is a great thing in regards to hotels used for a stopover. Anything more to say usually means problems…

The staff at this hotel keep this hotel in excellent condition and you can clearly see that when you find out the hotel is a few years old. It still looks and feels brand new. This can probably be attributed to the fact that Wytheville is more of a stopping over point for late night drivers as opposed to a tourist & holiday hotel. This hotel chain features an in house mini convenience store, and at this particular location you will be delighted to find that the items are more reasonably priced than most other locations. In fact, some items are«street priced.» The cornfield view out back is quite lovely. Don’t open the windows in the summertime, we encountered a large spider on the inside of the screen. The hotel is a stick construction(all wood) so be careful if you’re traveling with young’ns(come on it’s Southwest Virginia) or plan to be lively. Be careful when coming to this hotel late at night(past 1am) the front desk attendants enjoy sleeping in the back office. We had to wait about 10 minutes all while pushing the intercom button to regain access to the hotel at 1:40am.(They lock out the key reader in addition to the front door sensor at a certain point in the night-probably so those late night nap sessions go over without a hitch!) If you plan to check out late be warned – the vulturettes and their carts will hover outside of your door starting at 11am!

The Fairfield Inn & Suites stands out amongst the 3 other hotel chains that surround it. One thing stood out from the rest, its like new appearance. After opening 3 years ago, this hotel still gleams like the day it was built. After a 12 hour drive, a nice comfortable bed was the first thing on our minds. The parking lot was packed, but we managed to find a spot, and a room to match. Our first impression of the room was overall positive: it was very clean, which is very odd for a interstate hotel chain. The bathroom was spotless, not a bit of mold where you would normally find it. The room was rather large, granted it was the handicapped accessible room, but the rooms around it looked as though they may be similar in size. The room was nicely furnished with the typical desk, chair, TV, and a really comfortable bed, as well as the thermostat controlled A/C and in room fridge and coffee maker. There is WiFi(fast WiFi), but also included a wired connection for those who are without WiFi capabilities. There is an indoor heated pool as well as a 24-hour«fitness» room – I say«fitness» because it houses two treadmills and one elliptical, but hey every little bit counts. The next morning we went down to breakfast, we expected the usual«continental» breakfast, but were surprised to see sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits, hard boiled eggs, fruit cups, and quiche, as well as the staples like cereal and muffins. The only downside to this hotel is the interconnected rooms. There is a door that connects two rooms together and allow every little bit of noise through. We shared one of these wonderful doors with an obnoxious family that began with the mother yelling at her child at 7am, followed by the child throwing a tantrum, and the father yelling back. One quick call to the front desk took care of that issue. All in all this was a pleasurable experience; the great room, the nice bed, and the awesome breakfast all outweigh that dreadful door.
