We have been quite disappointed because we got dry mouth, effect of MSG the last few times we visited. Services are good but why suddenly with all the MSG? Please tell your kitchen to stop adding MSG, so that we can go back again.

Even though it’s not China Town, still quite excellent. If you enjoy the noodle soup they are so famous for at the location on 9th Street, it is just as good. Service was quite excellent, our waiter took the time to explain different menu items, and it was prime lunch time. Food came out hot the minute the cooks put it on the counter for the wait staff. I will enjoy going back.

I’ve been here twice. Love it! My favorite is the pork tenderloin with sweet and sour sauce.

This is the first Chinese restaurant that i think really good in Philadelphia so far. I just moved here for a couple weeks so I am still exploring. The menu, as soon as I went through it, I knew is Cantonese style, which i love the most. Their seafood is a must-try. I haven’t tried their dim sum but so far i think it is better than Han Dynansty in the old city. Will definitely come back. I miss DC already.

Hard to believe that I haven’t reviewed Sang Kee before. We eat here more frequently than we eat anywhere else(except home, of course). We probably don’t quite average once per week, but I’m sure we hit at least 40 times per year. The servers, managers, and owner are all friendly and efficient. The food is consistently good, and way better than the other Chinese/Asian fusion offerings in the area. [As one reviewer noted, the food at the Wynnnewood location is better than the food at their Chinatown location.] We have never had a bad meal or bad service here, and we stumbled upon it about two weeks after it opened. I’d say at least 1⁄3 of the clientele is of Asian descent. I assume that speaks to the authenticity of the food? The menu is ridiculously extensive, and a version written completely in Mandarin is also available. They added a full line of dim sum options a few years ago, too. Are you a fussy pain in the neck? Need gluten-free options? No problem — they are very accommodating. [For most dishes, our kid with celiac disease reports being unable to tell the difference between the regular soy sauce and the gf soy sauce — other than the color.] I watched the owner himself cater to a particularly needy patron a few weeks ago. I would have told her to go in the kitchen and make the dish herself, but he listened patiently. :-)

The best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to in the US. Great place for dim sum and it is way better than Chinatown! I come to Sang Kee regularly and next year when I move to Philly I would still come because it is so good!

Love this restaurant. They are always busy and always serve the food hot and tasty. We consider their Chinese food to be of gourmet quality and priced a little on the high side and worth it. The ambience is terrific! We think we are in Vegas each time we visit.

So we dine-in & had an amazing experience. My bf & I went for dinner & the food was delicious. We order shrimp spring rolls and had a few beers. I also ordered pan fried noodle which I thought was something completely different. Yikes! The manager had no problem whipping me up some seafood lo mein within minutes since I had ordered the wrong thing! Great customer service and very friendly staff. My perception of this place has changed and I will be going back.

Parking was challenging here being next to Whole Foods grocery. The bistro was clean and service was speedy. The dim sum were not served from a cart so you’ll order by making on the order form on the table. Ha Gow $ 4.50 was above average. The fried taro $ 4 were excellent, hot and freshly fried. The steamed bean curd roll(only two) $ 4 were mediocre. Beef Chow Fun $ 11 had very good quality beef, very tender. The fun was perfectly cooked. They didn’t stick together.

Been here several times over the years, and it’s always been pretty good. Not particularly known for any single dish, however. So here’s what I’ve had: — Sea bass — great! Fried and juicy on the inside. Lots of flavor — The lunch special — it’s ok. For $ 13 you get some friend shrimp, a small portion of beef, and wonton soup that had 3 wontons in it. I didn’t think this was a particularly great deal. — Peking Duck — stay away from the duck combos. The ducks are greasy, with soft skin and rather dry meat. The pancakes that it comes with came out of a box. Generally disappointing but also the norm for most chinese restaurants. — Dim sum — worth it at ~$ 4 a pop, though most of these are pre-made and really depends on what you get. — Shrimp fried rice — really nice. It’s what you expect. — Jiajiang noodles — passable! Makes for a quick lunch — Pork belly baozi — really nice! Excellent soft flavorful pork.

My family has been coming to Sang Kee since I was a kid, so I am a longtime fan of these restaurants. This location has become my favorite, though. It is clean, very tasty, and the original owners(siblings) are frequently spotted here. The prices are a bit higher than the Chinatown location(particularly for dimsum), but the food quality is also better. Their dimsum is one of my local favorites, as well as their soup noodles.(Try the fried dough wrapped in rice noodles, egg tarts, and barbeque pork buns.) Dinner is also delicious, although their fried noodle dishes tend on the oilier side. This place is utterly packed on the weekends, so it helps to come earlier for dimsum or to call ahead for a reservation. Weeknights are more manageable. My gripe with this location, though, is the parking lot. It’s currently in the same shopping center as Whole Foods and some other shops, which makes parking a nightmare. Sometimes I’ve had to circle around several times to find a spot, and drivers always seem to be going the wrong way. BUT the Whole Foods will be moving, so I’m hopeful that will help clear some of the congestion.

Our favorite Sang Kee location. Yes, there is a completely different clientele than the West Philly or Chinatown locations, but it also means that the menu offers a wider range of variety and flavors to meet the interests of the different customers. The quality of the food is better than the other locations, and while the prices are higher than the Chinatown location, it is completely worth it. One of our staples is the Hong Kong style crispy chicken which is covered with a flavorful garlic sauce by the chicken maintains its crispiness and juiciness. The presentation of the dishes is also a step above. This location gets really busy on the weekends so the staff can occasionally get overwhelmed, but they are diligent as like all of the Sang Kee locations, you will get your food quickly. Check it out if you are in the Wynnewood area or make a special trip to enjoy some delicious food!

When the dim sum is delicious and the parking is free, I’m all over it! This Sang Kee is conveniently located in a small shopping center off of Lancaster Ave. The prices are a little on the steep side compared to what you would find in Chinatown but it’s a nice place to go for those who don’t want to deal with the headaches of driving to and around the city for some good, authentic Chinese food & dim sum. Their regular dishes of dim sum start around $ 4 a plate and they have the dishes available from 11:30am to about 4 in the afternoon. Their service can definitely be hit or miss, depending on who you get. One of the times I went, the manager(or at least I think it was the manager, he didn’t look like a server) came over to ask how my grandpop and I were doing with our meals and my grandpop asked in passing if he could get a cup of coffee. The manager said that they didn’t have coffee here but they would be able to get him some tea. About 5 minutes later the manager comes back to our table with a cup of coffee and packets of sugar and cream in tow. Turns out, he ran over to the Whole Foods next door and picked up a cup for my grandpop! What a guy! I always look forward to coming back to Sang Kee for a nice meal.

I have never had a bad experience at this place. The food is always delicious, fresh, and customer service is excellent. I usually order the roasted duck(you need to eat this at least once in your lifetime), the braised pork belly, shrimp, and a bunch of vegetables. It’s honestly hard to pick a favorite dish here as they’re all good. With that being said, I definitely like to have the ginger ice cream to end the night with. The ginger ice cream is creamy and sweet, it’s like eating crystalized ginger without the spiciness.

Visited: Wednesday — August 5, 2015 — 12 noon The last time my fellow retired friend selected a luncheon spot, I was less than impressed. On our next luncheon experience I had intended to choose a place of my preference but when she mentioned Sang Kee in Wynnewood I was in full agreement. Unilocalers have favorably reviewed same. The Wynnewood west parking spots remain few at lunch but, I was fortunate to score one of the few remaining. The inside is immaculate and appealing. Frankly, the outside provides no indication of the large interior. We were escorted to a table near the rear and sat near a window. We were presented with several menus. The menus contained the usual Asian dishes and some unique to Sangkee, however, I selected the $ 13.00 menu — specifically, Buddha Delight. The Buddha Delight ingredients are varied but, based on on my pictures, recollection, and the Internet the following appeared prominently — carrots, shitake mushrooms, Chai pow yu, baby bok chop, tofu ribbons and lotus root in a vegetarian soy-based sauce. The server proudly explained that the lotus root was imported from China. The meal was complimented by sweet and sour soup, a properly cooked lamb chop with brown rice. My dining friend’s friend’s choice was certainly better than previous. I will return.

I consider Sang Kee one of the staples of Main Line asian cuisine along with Margaret Kuo’s, Yang Ming & Sushi Land. Everytime I come here, I want to try something new but I seem to always end up ordering a noodle broth. Tried the Sang Kee wonton today and it was somewhat bland but nothing a pinch of hot oil couldn’t fix. Definitely recommend the noodle broths for best value & portion size(see picture). If you can’t decide on a broth, just go for the House Special with everything! The jiajiang noodles are one of the better ones in Philly, almost on par with that of Empress Garden in Chinatown. For the price($ 7), it is very worth it since it’s a rather sizeable bowl(see picture) and could easily serve as an entrée. Last note is that the recent expansion/renovation has helped make the place much more party-friendly(we had a party of 10) and spacious than it used to be. But I would still recommend calling ahead to reserve a party! Overall, Sang Kee is a solid 4 stars: clean, high quality, semi authentic Chinese cuisine with great noodle broths and good for family-style ordering. Would be 5 stars if it had some standout or must-order dishes.

I used to be a regular at Sang Kee when I lived in Radnor. I usually get the bbq roast pork and duck platter — it’s my #1 choice! But when I’m feeling adventurous, I would try various items on the menu. So far I haven’t had anything that I didn’t like. The ones that I remember particularly well and would recommend: roast pork noodle soup, pad thai, house special pan fried noodle(this is extremely delicious!), shanghainese pork soup dumplings, and scallion pancake. Some of my translation may be off because I usually look at the Chinese menu. I didn’t do a comprehensive comparison, but I swear the Chinese menu has more items!!! Oh, did I mention their dessert ice cream was pretty yummy as well? Especially that green tea ice cream. Yum!

Here is something I’ll bet you didn’t know. In Chinese culture, the middle name is treated like an American last name, so an entire family has the same middle name. The owner’s(Michael Chow) middle name is Sang, and Kee means«your business.» Therefore, a good direct translation of Sang Kee is «Chow’s business.» I tip my hat to Michael because this is perhaps the finest ASIANFUSIAN restaurant on the Main Line. The lovely wife and I stopped in last night(Wednesday) around 6:15 and the place was bustling. We were seated right away but fifteen minutes later folks were waiting, so make a reservation if you can. I find it mildly annoying that they don’t use OpenTable. We were seated in the new EXPANDEDSECTION and found it very nice with comfortable seats. Most folks consider the atmosphere contemporary and warm. We perused the extensive menu and settled on– * Steamed Meat Dumplings, $ 5 * Chilean Sea Bass $ 24 * Dry Pot Beef $ 16 * Shanghai Noodles with Pork $ 11 As these folks have a full bar I ordered a Sapporo and the wife enjoyed a Plum wine. What I find so wonderful about Sang Kee is that every single dish was a NOTCHABOVE what you can find elsewhere in the area. The dumplings were juicier and more beautifully plated. The Brussels sprouts accompanying the sea bass were exceptional. The beef was wildly spicy as expected and included beautiful chunks of jicama. Don’t get me started on the noodles. They were the perfect firmness and I could easily get addicted to the sauce. Throughout the evening every person that«touched» us was efficient, and competent and at times even a little humorous. We found the overall customer service delightful. BTW– We never had a language barrier issue. Have you ever visited San Francisco’s Chinatown? They set the standard in this country for Asian food that pleases the American palette. Sang Kee would hold their own there any day!
