Mountain Hardware

Seriously poor customer service and ridiculous prices! I wanted to return a cheap piece of crap «Do It Best» brand faucet aerator that states plainly on the package to return it to place of purchase if it fails. Store clerk treated me like I’m some thief that must have (obviously) bought it at another store then tried to return it to the Wrightwood store. It was purchased at this location less than 4 months ago, cost around $ 5 and this «clerk» refuses to exchange it. My receipt was not available as it was submitted to a work order for a realtor. Rather than treat me with respect and follow through on a product they sell and SHOULD back up, he flat out was an !@&(^%%$$!!! I will happily drive to a big box store 25 miles out of my way rather than shop this hillbilly hardware outfit again! I bought the piece there, as I am a Wrightwood resident. Avoid these chumps!!! They are rude, refuse to back up THEIR product, then turn around and stab you in the back over a $ 5 piece of crap that probably had a 300% mark up anyway. Sleazy!!!

Very busy store. They sold us two sleds for $ 16 each, and after two trips down the hill one was already toast. We saw several similar sleds abandoned on surrounding roads and hills, so I don’t believe we are the only ones with this issue.
The staff was very nice and helpful. Directing us with a map to the local snow play places.
As other Unilocalers have mentioned the bathrooms are port-​a-​potty style and not very clean. I had to coerce my four year old to use it, and we’ve been to similar potty places while camping. These were exceptionally dirty, hopefully other Unilocalers will help keep them clean by cleaning up after they are through.

This place has some really unique gift items and GREAT service. Everyone was so helpful. We were able to pick up ant traps and a hummingbird feeder for a gift. They also have maps of the area for hiking, etc. Both practical and interesting.

Quite possibly the best experience I have had at a hardware store… ever. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Such a small town feel. This store had everything you could think of, necessary for a mountain stay. Camping equipment, 2 different types of firewood… etc etc. The prices were great. Makes me want to move to Wrightwood, just so I can be a regular at the hardware store.

This is a great hardware store and/​or winter gear store. From sleds, to mittens to maps and even the parking pass needed to ensure your car doesn’t get a ticket while sledding. Yes, they have found a way to charge you for parking on Federal land. Isn’t that what my taxes are for?
Anyway, these guys are super nice, very helpful and don’t inflate their prices 200% above market. The best part and what makes us loyal to this place is that every morning, the store surveys all the sledding sites and then posts conditions on their website, a sled hill snow report. They have simply taken it upon themselves to offer this service to us all.
Parking is relatively easy, the workers are extremely helpful/​friendly and they have just about anything you forgot at home and now need in order to not freeze.

The potties are to the right of the store… outside…in the cold… and…they’re…gulp…porta potties. They’re dirty and I pee’s on my shoe!!! Stupid porta potties!!!
Workers are nice and don’t mind that you are using them for their porta potties. I may have needed a screwdriver to secure my bindings though…
Still…the only potties around before turning left to get to the Mountain High resort!

Sweet! I called this place before leaving OC and the guy who answered gave me a snow report! Nice hearing from a local. So the wife and the dog and I headed up here. After exiting the 15, I thought damn I forgot the sled. So I headed here and picked up a decent sled for 8 bucks! Deal!

Nice place and nice people went here before to pick up some stuff to fix my snowboard. Took the family out sledding and they have sleds for sale there also.
