GABSHACK is delightful! Enjoyed hot pita and red pepper hummous as appetizer. My friend, Carole, said her ‘gyro salad’ was the best salad she’d ever had. It was a chopped salad, replete with bar b q lamb & pita bread. My lambgyro was lovingly mixed with tyzziki sauce(sp?), sprinkled withbfresh feta. Our friend, Karen, enjoyed a gyro with sauteed veggie balls(cant think of name). As good as lamb! Managers arenprofessional and accomadating. We will go again, w/more friends, in February!

Pro: If you are into Mediterranean food that’s quick on-the-go, this is a solid option. I’ve only had the Super Gyro with lamb and feta, but it was good enough to repeat the choice every time I’ve visited thus far! Ask for the spicy version and you’ll have quite an enjoyable punch to the taste buds! Great portion sizes too! WARNING: You may not want to go back to work after that delightful gut bomb. I usually don’t… Con: The ambiance is more suitable for a lunchtime bite. Also, the ventilation is slightly lacking. It’s not the best feeling to walk out of a restaurant with your clothes smelling like the food you just ate. Get it to go, maybe? Bottom Line: A great gyro for lunch. Grab one!

I found this restaurant via Unilocal and used the Unilocal coupon. For the $ 5 price, this food was very, very good. Highly recommend the lamb gyro. Also, the owner maintains the bathroom hygiene which speaks to the attention to detail. If around town, I will be back.

First, the customer service and the way in which she accommodated us for our meal was beyond awesome. That alone is a reason to visit again. In short, the food was delicious. We had curry chicken in lots of gravy with pita bread and a side salad.

I had a previous review up(1 star) but that was only because I tried to go there a few times and they were closed. Whatever the reason, someone had to visit the bank or bathroom, whatever the reason I just always seemed to go there at the wrong time. This was months ago. I had written this place off, until today. Out getting an oil change and needed something for lunch. I was indecisive about where I wanted to go. For some reason I visited Unilocal!and up came a coupon for this place. $ 5 for $ 10 worth of food. If they were open that was incentive enough for me to give them another try. They’re about 20 minutes away from me, but that’s worth the drive if they make a good gyro. There’s not many gyro places in the area. A call confirmed they were open. The lady answering the phone was nice, good speaking volume, and clear. I only mention it because the last time I called the guy who answered was kind of quiet and hard to hear. When I arrived the lady figured I was the one who called, and she also knew I was the one who left the negative review. No problem. I told her after trying the food I’d come and write a new review. Like I said she was very friendly. We talked food for a few minutes and I was asking about her business. I like that she took a look at reviews because it shows she cares. Anyway, about the restaurant. There’s plenty of parking and the place inside was clean with a few tables to sit at. They’re got a case with some soda and iced tea in it as well as some desserts I didn’t really pay attention to. They’re got other stuff on the menu I didn’t really pay attention to either. I was just happy to finally be here. Next time I will look more. I had a spicy lamb gyro platter over rice. You can also get it over french fries or salad. I might try french fries next time. They also make chicken if you don’t like lamb. You can get mild as well. I enjoyed having it hot. It was hot without the vinegar taste of hot sauce some places usually put on top. Without the vinegar it really let’s the white sauce and meat take center stage, while still maintaining heat. It was a lot of food. The rice was very flavorful and cooked perfect. Meat was tender and juicy. I hate when some places the meat is all crusty or dried. This was perfect. It looked like lettuce tomato, lamb, onions, and peppers. For a small price I added 2 falafel balls and feta cheese. I also got a side of falafel, but I was already stuffed from the platter. Really was a good portion of food. The falafel wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but definitely not the worst. Flavorful and nicely cooked on the outside. I like that they will sell you a large side of extra tzatziki sauce, because I could bathe in that stuff it’s so good. I really enjoyed their sauce. It was different tasting than some other places. It wasn’t just cucumber. seemed to have some other spices in it. Had a unique flavor to it. I’d definitely come back again, coupon or not.

I really like the food here, a bit pricey and they could have fresher meat but the spice is good and the portions fill you up. They also deliver. Also they are very nice people and want to please you.

Great food for vegetarians only thing in the area. Service could use help but they are new and deserve a pass on that.

This was my first time stepping into this restaurant. Pretty clean atmosphere, service was really good. I had the lamb gyro with spice, feta, & tzatziki sauce(which is a must). It was cooked fresh to order. The flavors were amazing! How everything was balanced was perfect! The gentleman who cooked my food did an outstanding job & was also very friendly. Great customer service! I, SIRLEXINGTON, shall return!

I visited this place a couple times upon the insistence from a coworker who told me that Gab Shak actually does their Gyros right. He also handed me a menu which upon first glance seemed somewhat confusing — the menu seemed to suggest some sort of amalgamation of Mediterranean cuisine(Gyros/Falafel) and Afghani cuisine(Chicken and Lamb Curry, based on the pictures) As I consider myself a Curry fanatic, on my first visit I ordered the Lamb Curry. I know that curry has become sort of a blanket term for a dish of South-ish Asian origin that has some sort of a mixed vegetable/cumin/coriander broth served over rice, but this was probably one of the least impressive non-pre-cooked examples of it I’ve ever seen. Instead of being spicy and savory, the curry was overly salty and kind of powdery by the time I had brought it back to my room.(mean travel time between my room and Gak Shak: 7 minutes) The worst part of it all was that the«lamb» part of the curry was the«shaved» lamb that they use for the Gyro — not chunks, not bits, but little thin already spiced paper-thin STRIPS of lamb, which did not blend with the flavor of the curry at all. The second time I reluctantly came back here I actually ordered the gyro and had a bit of my friend’s falafel, and it was okay; we ate in the restaurant yet the falafel was still somewhat cold-ish. I might have walked into the Gab Shak on two separate completely isolated incidents where there might have been a slip-up in the kitchen, seeing as how Gab Shak is relatively new, but I’d wait a bit until I give this place another try.

I’m a regular customer at the Gab Shak, and they have some of the best, authentic Middle Eastern food that I’ve ever tasted. Gyros are off the charts delicious, humus(especially the spicy one) is incredible, and curry dishes(lamb is my favorite) are so spectacular that they’ll transport you to another country! All food is made to order from the highest quality and freshest of ingredients. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. I actually get cravings for their food and am never disappointed. Do yourself a favor and get over there as soon as you can– I can guarantee that you’ll thank me for it

Would be 4 stars but their menu lies to me! Said they were open until 8:00PM but when we all decided to make 7PM dinner plans around gyros we were sorely surprised to find that they close at 6PM! Change the menu guys!

Very good food if you are in the mood for Middle Eastern. The gyros are pretty good, though not quite what you’d expect if you are used to the Greek kind. The ones here come with seasoned rice and salad. The tzatziki is also a bit different than the Greek kind if that’s what you’re used to. Still, it’s really quite good. They used to deliver, but no longer do. Pick up only. Eat in seems to take longer, so I recommend getting take-out. Get a piece of their baklava for dessert. Enough for dessert for two.

First time visitor to this place, waiting time was definitely too long, I ordered the chicken curry plate and it took about 25 – 30 mins to get my order out. When it finally came out it was a disapoinment probably the worst curry I’ve had ever. Hopefully next I go I’ll try their gyros I heard they are pretty good.
