Mrs. Goodman’s Baking

Still the best crust! I haven’t had a Mrs. Good mans pie on a few years since moving from Worthington. We stopped in today to get a strawberry rhubarb and apple crisp. Both are delicious!

I get the Italian cream cake, really good scones and cookies. brown sugar walnuts are the best.

My son wanted a dog bone cake for his birthday, every bakery told me no. Mrs Goodman’s said no problem. It was too cute and delicious!

Cakes are insanely good. Only place I know of I can get a real Angle Food cake and it is perfect. Italian cream cake is perfect. Love this place.

My family has been ordering cakes here for every birthday for the past 5 – 6 years. But not anymore! Their customer service is the worst and unfortunately unavoidable. They accused my 72 year old father of wanting to steal a cake he had pre-​paid for. He stopped by to order it a few days before my moms bday & they asked that he pre-​pay and he had no problem for that. Unfortunately they didn’t give a receipt and he paid in cash. And when he went to pick it up they said you have to pay for it first he said I already did pay for it, and they said they didn’t keep track of it and basically accused him of wanting to steal it a $ 25 cake!!! They made a copy of his drivers license too! This is not how you treat loyal customers! They just lost my whole family’s business — and we have a Huge family! Good riddance. We’ll go to Schnieders in Westerville.

Very talented bakers! I asked for them to draw Marvel and DC characters on cookies and was so amazed when I saw how they turned out. These are just priceless memories for the recipients of these which is what I love about this place.

They did an amazing job for a family event. Everything was made exactly as I ordered. Their pricing is very reasonable and I love the vanilla cake w raspberry filling. The chocolate cake w chocolate icing is delicious too. The owner is nice and responds quickly. The cake was delivered on time and complimented by many guests.

This is the best bakery in Ohio. The staff is wonderful and service is great. I have been using them since I return to Columbus for all my sales & marketing needs and personal bake goods as well.
When training new marketing healthcare reps, I totally encourage them to get all their cookies for their accounts from Mrs. Goodman’s. Rachel and Lee are awesome!!!

Mrs. Goodman’s cakes are my favorite. In the world.
Vanilla cake with buttercream icing and raspberry filling is my go-​to variety — and it really doesn’t get any better than that. There’s just something about the icing that isn’t too sweet and they apply just the right amount. The cake has a little density to it but is still moist and spongy. And thank goodness that they don’t mess around with fondant (yeah it’s pretty, but it doesn’t taste very good).
My cousin has been getting cakes here for as long as I remember and she always called it «The Cake Lady» so it took my awhile to figure out that it was Mrs. Goodman’s. Mrs. Goodman’s is so good in fact that I’ve been to a few birthday parties in Cincinnati that have brought the cakes down from Columbus. That’s how good they are!
I highly recommend a Mrs. Goodman’s cake for your next celebration — or just make an occasion up and get one.

Best cake in town! We always turn to Mrs. Goodman’s for something delicious for family events and birthdays. My favorite is the chocolate cake with chocolate icing!

Haven’t been to this location BUT… one of my customers brought us in some of these cupcakes to try. Now, I’m writing a review!!! These cupcakes have been gone over a week now, yet they’re still fresh on my mind!!! I HAD to know where they came from and when she stopped in today, I jumped at the opportunity to ask where they came from :) Although the hours don’t mesh well with my working hours, I WILL find a time to make it into this location to enjoy some more red velvet cupcakes… among other goodies!!! DELICIOUS!!!

There red velvet cake is quite tasty, pretty pricy but delicious.

Mrs Goodmans was packed full diespite not looking like much from the outside. The quality and variety is what gets people coming back. The cookies are amazing, the cupcakes are also good. I will definetly be back!

I took a standardized test near Mrs. Goodman’s and a friend recommended I stop by afterwards for a sweet treat. What a great idea she had! For my celebration, I chose two of their cookies: the pumpkin spice and the chocolate chip pecan bar. Wow. They were amazing. Also amazing — the bag of broken cookies you can get on the cheap. Still not sure why I didn’t purchase them that day. I blame test anxiety. Mrs. Goodman’s also offers personalized cakes and keeps a stock of cakes for spontaneous purchase. I have heard that they are wonderful but cannot yet personally vouch for them. By the way, we «saved» the chocolate chip pecan bar and paired it with Jeni’s Salty Caramel Ice Cream — a match made in heaven!

I wish Mrs. Goodman was my next door neighbor so that she would give me cookies for free and I could eat cookies all day long just like my eight year old self always wanted to. This is my absolute favorite place to get cookies. If I could eat Mrs. Goodman’s M&M cookies forever and ever amen, I would do it. They’re a buck a throw, which I don’t consider bad at all.
I’m not really that impressed with the cupcakes, especially with the local competitors I prefer. They’re a little dry and small for me (the cupcakes, not the local competitors), but I might have caught them on an off day or two. But I will never ever cheat on Mrs. Goodman’s cookies.

This is the go to place for cakes in my family. They can be a little on the pricey side, but the taste is great, and better still, they will decorate it with pretty much anything you want on top. In February we got a cake with a run over cat on it (it’s a long story) and in May we got a cake with a Tardis on top. The person taking the order clearly had never watched Doctor Who and didn’t know a Tardis from the Starship Enterprise, but they googled it, and sure enough, what I got for my birthday was a piece of art.
But unlike many places around who put the form over function, Mrs. Goodman’s cakes taste every bit as good as they look. The chocolate with chocolate icing is decadent, the white with white icing is moist and still tastes good after a day, and the strawberry with strawberry icing tastes fresh with real strawberries ground up in the cake and the frosting.
Ask about the prices before you order, because you don’t want to end up surprised when you go to pick up, but for us, birthdays are a big deal, and so is the cake!

I may be biased, I used to work for/​with Mrs. Goodman back in ’95 at the French Market location. Each day, if there were unsold items, I was free to take them with me, and as you can imagine, this quickly turned into a problem. :)
The scones and breads were always amazing, but I have to give it to her for the pies. I was not a fan of crème pies before I had hers. They are exquisite. There are so many to choose from, but I seem to keep going back to the French Silk. It has a crust made of oreo cookie crumbles, a filling of chocolate so smooth and decadent that you will want to eat more even though it’s so rich you can feel satisfied quickly. The whipped cream is also quite delicious.
I have not had the cakes, though I have heard nothing but rave reviews, even after they have been frozen for some time.
This is a true, from-​scratch, on-​site, small, local, family operation. You can’t beat that.

Never heard of the place before, but i had to go pick up a cake for a birthday party. The staff was very nice to me and explained what i needed to do to store the cake over the weekend. They were very helpful.
The cake after two days tasted awesome and i dont even like sweets. Ill keep this place in mind next time i need a cake.

Fantastic bakery. I’ve been to virtually every bakery in Columbus and Mrs. Goodman’s is my favorite. I liked them so much that they made my wedding cake.
In response to the other reviewer: their prices are actually not bad at all and quite reasonable. I made a comment a few months back that I was able to afford almost three times as many baked goods here versus a downtown vegan bakery. Besides, I’m sure most reviewers are concerned first and foremost with the baked goods and their quality and secondarily about price.
I’ll keep this short and sweet: After visisting virtually every bakery in the Columbus area, Mrs. Goodman’s is still my favorite based on selection of products (cookies, cakes, scones, pies, etc.), the quality of their baked goods (large, thick cookies), and most importantly: their buttercream frosting!
Their buttercream frosting is very unique and is the most delicious that I’ve tried in my bakery-​quest. And this is coming from a guy who also bakes cakes on the side too, so I know a little bit about buttercream icing. Matter of fact, I liked it so much that I bought several pounds of the icing from Mrs. Goodman’s a few months ago. It didn’t go to waste :-)
The only downside, and this is true of most bakeries, is that if you go late in the day, you’re going to be faced with a minimal inventory. Trust me, I’ve learned my lesson. Try to go as early in the day as possible so you’ll have the full menu to choose from. If you can’t, just call ahead and one of the employees will be happy to put something back for you.
Definitely go check out Mrs. Goodman’s. I’m sure you’ll find that it’s one of the best bakeries in the Columbus area.

I grew up in urban Pittsburgh, where the word «bakery» meant a real, stand-​alone store, complete with the wonderful smells of baking bread and treats, not some dismal corner of a chain grocery store.
Mrs. Goodman’s takes me back to those days. Walk in, and you are bouyed by the pleasant smells of cakes, scones, and other delicious goodies baking in the back, while the busy staff decorates cakes out front.
Goodman’s makes the best cakes I’ve had in Columbus. Their decorators have a great creative touch, and they are always willing to work with you to create that special celebration cake. We typically get a two layer devil/​angel food cake, but whatever you get, you won’t be disappointed– particularly with the wonderful icing they have on the cake.
If you’re not in need of a whole cake, they typically have cupcakes that are iced and ready to go.
Even for last minute cakes, they usually will have one or two undecorated, ready for birthday wishes to be added.
Try Mrs. G’s, and you won’t be disappointed. Five stars all the way.
