This place is trying to be a nightclub and a dive bar at the same time and it doesn’t work. I just want to play keno and chat with my friend … But we can’t hear each other speak because the music is obnoxiously loud. However I do like all the music they’re playing… Good DJ ;)

Good bar, good drinks and has a pool table! Only downside if your looking for a fun night out this place is semi lacking excitement. Not a bad place to start your night drinking.

My brother and i went in there on a sunday night for a drink and pool. My brother is 6’10″. He was immediately harassed by a very drunk and very rude man, who apparently works there! He called my brother andre the giant, when i stuck up for my brother he said that fucking broad needs to shut the f up and leave. He followed us around and harassed my brother and i were forced to leave. We were paying customers and didn’t want any trouble, but this guy was so drunk and confrontational, we were there barely long enough to finish a beer. The bartender that was there said absolutely nothing to us or asked the belligerent drunk to control his mouth. Ive never been so disgusted in my life and me and my brother will never go there again. And i tell all my friends what a horrible and unprofessional place this place is.

It’s not terrible, I’m just not sure I would ever set out to go here. The beer selection isn’t offensive, but clearly not intended for beer afficianados, which is fine. Its also not a dive bar or a rowdy nightclub. I guess I just don’t see who they were trying to make happy here.

Awful. Wouldn’t allow my 23 year old niece, after showing ID and another form of ID, come into the bar while allowing many others under age. Wouldn’t recommend ever. Would give a zero but can’t. Also overly packed and rude staff, as usual.

Great place to go to late night. Good atmosphere and never a cover. Staff seems friendly and has some games and pool table in the back. The outside patio in the summer is great on a warm night.

This was a nice bar until I didn’t feel safe going there anymore. The crowd for the most part isn’t bad but my friends and I had a bad experience one night and we won’t be back. We were out celebrating a friends birthday and while we were in the back of the bar talking a guy comes up and sucker punches my friend in the face. His face hits the table and he falls to the ground. Two of our friends jump in to get the guy away from our friend and he keeps on swinging. The bouncers eventually grab the guy and just toss him outside the bar where he takes off. Rather than hold him for the cops, or even call the police they let the guy go. We had to track down the owner ourselves(the staff didn’t do that) and he only offered my friend a free drink and then slinked off. My friend had to get about $ 3,000 worth of dental care to fix the 4 teeth the guy chipped when he punched him.

Good prices. Nice bartenders. Outdoor tables are a bonus as is the parking lot next to the place. I’d go back.

Blackstone Tap is an alright Worcester townie bar, that usually caters to recent college grads and young professionals. It would seem to be the bar of choice for people who graduated from St. Peter-Marion or Burncoat between 2003 and 2008. The bar is well lit and the music isn’t usually very loud on a weeknight, and on busy weekends the bar is usually packed. Live music occasionally, and typical Worcester circuit of college bar performers. There is a pool table in the back and I think a place for darts, if I remember correctly. During the summer, they open the side doors and let the crowd spill onto a narrow, but welcome patio. The beer selection is pitiful and awful. There are 6 — 8 taps, and all of them are below average. Of the one or two taps that they have that aren’t dedicated to bud light or a Miller product, they’re usually the most bland of those breweries — for instance, the Harpoon tap is almost always the seasonal or ale and the Wachusett tap is the same. You’ll be hard pressed to ever find an IPA or decent stout on tap. Blackstone Tap sports at least 20 bottles on their bottle list, but the bottle selection is somehow worse than the draught selection. We’re talking like six variations of Mike’s Hard Lemonade and six extra-light/ultra-light lagers, and then other crummy beers to round out the pack. I can understand having, say, two or three malt bevs on your bottle list for people who like Mike’s Hard Lemonade or Smirnoff Ice, but is anybody really going to go to a bar to do a Mike’s Hard Lemonade sampler? I can also understand having one o

Being that I’m in Worcester a lot… this is a typical stop on a night out with friends. Right at the end of Water St(a strip of nightlife in Worcester) it’s a perfect place for causal get together’s, or drinks before really getting nuts. The crowd is always a mix of college kids, young adults, to middle aged. In Worcester, nothing is predictable. Beer taps and selection is always great, and the drinks are strong if you get it mixed. Price is pretty cheap as well. I know if you want to have a private function, the space is free. I’ve been on weeknights and weekends, and all the time it’s pretty busy. There is a small municipal lot next to it, or street parking is an option. Lots of room to stand and sit. Best for pre-gaming or large group of people to meet up.

This bar no longer serves any food at all, despite the fact that it still says they do on the awning outside. The ‘patio area’ is a service alley separated by a chain link fence from a parking lot. The beer selection is just barely average. Not a lot of local stuff and none of it on tap. In fact, the only interesting tap on our recent visit was some not terribly fresh Purple Haze being served through lines that needed to be cleaned. On the plus side, there are martini specials made with top shelf liquor, a pool table, and an internet jukebox. It’s not a terrible place, but if you’re after a low key bar with good beer there are much better options around. I’d give them two stars, but advertising food when you don’t serve any is really obnoxious.

I love sitting outside in the summer, and Blackstone’s plastic tables & chairs — while basic — fit the bill. The bar itself is a little small but has a full bar and good selection of beers on tap. The vibe here is less club, and more bar, which is great for Water Street where most spots are a bar/club fusion. That said, you can tell when people come to Blackstone as their destination(jeans & tees), or if they stopped by in between other places(dresses & heels). Either is fine, the crowd in Blackstone is generally pretty eclectic. Plenty of tables, small spot but even when busy still enough room to get around. Best in the summer, good year-round!

This is definitely my FAVORITE bar. I lived in Worcester for awhile and I’ve yet to find a place for drinks that I like better than this. Meyghann is my absolute favorite bartender ever, and she takes care of me every single time I’m there. This place does get pretty packed on the weekends, but it’s also on Water St. which is pretty much where everybody in Worcester goes for the weekends. The selection is like any other bar, but I’ve been here weeknights and weekends and the service in this place is what makes it. From the owners to the barstaff, everything is absolutely phenomenal. THANKYOU!

A passable bar on weeknights but weekends it’s another D-bag hotspot. The Blackstone Tap is a very average bar across the board. Average selection, average prices, average capacity, average service. Sunday through Wednesday, it’s quiet and an «ok» spot to get a beer. On weekend nights, a surprisingly large number of idiots unfurl themselves from Axe-scented sheets to shuffle over to this bar and order Bud Lights while either getting into fights, talking about getting into fights, or hitting on one of the skanky girls who slithered in here. It’s Worcester’s answer to the Jersey Shore. I’m a big fan of dive bars and holes in the wall. This is neither. It’s your typical meat-market with alcohol fueled anger. Side note: I saw someone throw up in a barrel here and I saw someone pass out while standing up. You can definitely pull the«Jane Goodall observing the apes» at this bar, but fair warning.

A decent place with a young crowd on Thursday and Friday nights. Wachusett Blueberry on tap– mmmm! There’s a pool table in back. Overall, a chill place that never gets too exciting.

Decent little spot for a drink! My wife and I did a 40’s+ version of bar-hopping, and went to 3 spots(this being the last) for drinks and munchies before calling it a night at 9PM. Suffice it to say, we’re looking for something outside of the normal college-crowd fare. Nothing about this place really jumps out as unique or gimmicky — it’s just a very nice, friendly, bar with a moderate selection: Guinness and Smithwicks were on tap along with other domestic offerings; Newcastle and Red Stripe were in bottles; and the wine was certainly acceptable too. There is also a full liquor selection. We had started earlier with margaritas, and stuck with them here too. The bartender did a good job with her mixing of them. We sip Patron and don’t mix with it, but they had that available along with a couple of other tequilas and Cuervo. The prices were all very reasonable. The appetizer list is not long, but it all looked good. There is no full menu. We had the mozzarella wedges, which were nicely spiced. The pool table was pretty scuzzy — but this is a bar, not a pool hall. I give them high marks for having Closed Captioning on the TV over the bar. The music selection was good too — not bass thumping or modern. It was loud enough to hear and enjoy, but not so loud as to interfere with conversation. Parking was plentiful, too. I am not sure how bad it may get later on in the evening, though. In any case, a municipal parking lot is right next to it. So, in short: good, friendly, inexpensive, convenient, and unassuming. Sometimes, this is exactly what the doctor ordered!
