I just spent an hour and a half with a toddler and preschooler in this restaurant. Slow service, quesadilla was cold, had to go to the kitchen to get my spoon, get the highchair myself, no crayons for the kids, and then there’s the 20 minute wait to pay the check. Food is OK. They should add something fresh to the plates, some lettuce and tomato at least. Kid’s meals don’t come with a drink. I will say the salsa is delicious. My husband’s enchiladas were fresh and interesting, too. Wish they had some vegetarian specials that don’t consist of beans, cheese, and a swimming pool’s worth of sauce.

Been coming here since ’89. There is a reason. Best Mexican around!!! Friendly staff and great food. Oh and I can’t forget to mention the margaritas. Or can I?! They are very tasty and they pack a punch!!!

I’m not going to be soft on Mexican Restaurants just because they are in Georgia. This place is more common than zinc pennies. Terrible salsa, flavorless tortillas, and beans from a can. If you like boiled chicken wrapped in a dime-store tortilla with no flavor and no effort, then you will like this place. If you like Mexican Food, then keep looking. Nothing to see here. You can cook more authentic Mexican food from home using ground beef and taco seasoning. At least it will have flavor.

Ordered«speedy gonzales» lunch with enchilada and taco. I selected the beef option, and that was a mistake. It tasted like fake hamburger and the food was very bland. They have a bar, but it is separated from the rest of the restaurant, so I would feel comfortable bringing my family here. Service was acceptable. They have an outside dining area, but it’s in a strip mall. I understand they have live music in the evening.

Margaritas are fantastic and the food is decent BUT service is less than par and management is horrible. As long as you can deal with incorrect orders and attitude, you should be fine.

My wife and I wanted to go somewhere new so we gave this a try. We really liked the attentiveness of the wait staff and also the cleanliness of the dining room. The food itself was ok – filling, but to me was average. I would certainly return if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t drive out of my way for it.

A quick late night bite. Seems to be a hangout for several local folk, it was busy on a Sunday evening which states they are doing well in business. Food did not take too long, service was fast, somewhat pricey for a mexican restaurant knowing some of the prices for the other restaurants in the neighborhood. Not much of an atmosphere for a longer dinner.

I had no idea Monterrey’s was a chain. Until a few days ago, I only knew of one in Columbia, SC that I frequented(turns out there are, like, 6 in Columbia). Imagine my delight when I discovered that they actually have 72 locations, according to their website, and that one of them was only 15 minutes away from my house! This location has much more of a chain feel to it, which I don’t think is a bad thing. I love the one in Columbia( ) for the food, but it wasn’t exactly the nicest restaurant. I like the overall look and atmosphere of this location way better. I went with my boyfriend, who also loves Monterrey’s, on a Friday night around 7:30. People were standing around outside, so we thought we were going to have to wait, but we were seated right away. We sat inside, but I really liked that they have patio seating. Next time I go, I’d like to sit out there and enjoy a few beers. I was desperately hoping the menu would be the same as the Columbia location I’d been to and I was not disappointed! In fact, it seemed like they had the same things and MORE. This is a trivial thing to comment on, but the menus were super nice. They were clean, colorful, and easy to read, which is more than I can say for the very old ones at the Monterrey’s I’d been to in Columbia. If you’re a regular reader of my reviews, you probably know that I am a creature of habit and when I find something I like, I always order that thing. I am not a foodie. I enjoy lots of different food and I’ll try lots of things, but when I really like something, I don’t take it for granted. My go-to meal here is the Monterrey Cheese Steak. Heaven in my mouth. I don’t even know what makes it so delicious. The cheese probably. I was slightly disappointed in this particular location’s version of the cheese steak, though. It tasted the same, but the presentation was different. They looked like two tacos, as opposed to burritos. I like them rolled up because they’re easier to eat with a fork. However, this location earns points for giving me more rice(I love the rice!) and also for the option to choose one cheese steak or two. I believe the other location I’ve been to automatically gives you two. Don’t get me wrong, I will always get two because they’re so good, but I like having options. Speaking of options, they have what seems like endless meal combos here. It’s like a mix ‘n match type deal. One enchilada, one taco, one burrito. Five enchiladas. One quesadilla, a chalupa, and rice and beans. Pretty much anything you can imagine. And the prices are very reasonable. The staff was friendly and our food came out SO fast. I’m talking some of the fastest service I’ve ever experienced. I usually finish a beer in the time it takes my food to get to the table, but I’d only taken 3 sips of mine before my food was put in front of me. And it was hot enough that I knew it hadn’t been sitting in the back forever. It was fresh. I think my only complaint is that there’s no beer menu. Or at least we weren’t presented with one. There was a little sign on the table that gave prices for beers(draught and bottled) according to size(12 oz, 16 oz, pitcher, etc.) and margaritas, but the only logo on the sign was Dos Equis. I know they had to have much more of a selection than Dos Equis, but I ordered it anyway. I really like Dos Equis, but I would’ve liked to know my other draught options, too. I just hate to be that person asking the server to rattle off every single drink option they have. Oh, and they have amazing chips and salsa. As a chips and salsa lover, I have to make sure I put that in this review.

Not a bad Mexican eatery. I saw this as I was traveling for work and arriving at my hotel. It was one of the only restaurants nearby that was open late on a Sunday. I got there by 9:30 and even though they closed at 10:00 I didn’t feel as though I was rushed and the service was great. The food was pretty good and one of the most taste filled meals that I was able to enjoy while on the road.

Just below La Parilla in this area of Woodstock. They do have decent chips and salsa so that keeps it a high 2 stars, almost a 3. Really wanted guacamole but after seeing another table eating some I passed and just ordered some chicken enchiladas. That plate actually came with some guacamole, which is a little too fluid for my taste, but the rest of the dish was about average. Just throw some salsa on it and things begin to taste a little better.

We really did love this place for a long time. It was our number 2 right behind la parrilla that changed after this visit. My girlfriend got the number 1 combo and it was so bad. The food all tasted like soap! The taco was soggy and the beef had an equal water to meat ratio, ew. My fajita nachos were better but after eating some of that taco my taste buds were hurting. Also the salsa was about 2x hotter than on our previous visits. Don’t «fix» what isn’t broken. Maybe there is an explanation as to why her food was so atrocious sadly we won’t be back to find out.

This may be the best Mexican restaurant that we have been to in the Atlanta area(it’s actually in Woodstock). The amount of food that you receive here is outstanding for the price that you pay. I don’t remember what my wife ordered but I got something called the«special dinner», it’s special because they need three different plates to bring it out, LOL. It’s easily enough food by itself for two people. I managed to finish it, not so much because I was starving but because a couple of the staff told me that they didn’t think that I could finish it, LOL. Our total bill was around $ 19, not including tip and we really got a lot of food. The staff were very friendly and attentive, we never ran out of chips or salsa… both of which are unlimited and free. This is our new go-to Mexican restaurant, you should give it a shot.

When I was a young bad ass in high school, Monterrey’s was our weekend hang out. This is the place I first experienced tequila and also the first place I threw up publicly. My Mom should be so proud! I can recite the menu in my sleep but I stuck with the chicken nachos with a side of their fresh guac with large chunks of avocados and tomatoes. I was a sucker for their perfectly seasoned chicken, warm chips and, of course, who doesn’t love the white cheese that you KNOW has a zillion calories! Monterrey’s, thank you for being our haven. As if growing up in Woodstock wasn’t hard enough, the tequila, chicken nachos and sexual harassment eased the pain.

2 Tumbs up! Good food, good service and good prices! I had the Chicken Soup for lunch and it was great! Only 2nd to Los Reyes’ Chicken Soup! My tab was only $ 7.00 including the tip! P. S. I went during lunch! The bowl of Soup was huge and filled with chicken, avocados and pico de guyo. Loved it!

I’m a big fan. Great tortillas and spicy salsa. but the rice is where the magic is. They’re really great about vegetarian options, i.e. leaving out things and customizing the order for you. The food always comes quick and the drinks are, indeed, on the strong side– I personally really love the strawberry margs.

Meh, blarg, ugh. This place is so mediocre it doesn’t even evoke real words. I’ll try to string together a few to describe how lame it is. It’s spring time in Georgia. And nothing suits a warm non-working weekday like noshing on a patio. It was a sunny 75 degree day and I wanted to enjoy the weather. Normally Mondays are Mexican food and Margarita days. We decided to forgo our favorite Mexican destination to bask in the sun. Sadly, lawn furniture does not equal good food. Knowing the best Mexican food in all of Woodstock is found at Mi Casa makes having settled for this crap even more depressing. In my defense, MC does not have outdoor seating. The«Manpanion» and I ordered nachos, a combo plate, a tea and a margarita on the rocks with salt. The waiter was too busy trying to stuff his eyes back into his skull from leering at my tattoos to get the order correct. The tea was old and sour. The salsa was from a can, the chips were stale. The margarita was definitely cheap mix. And had ZERO salt anywhere near it. The combo was not the one we ordered. not even close. And holy gross fake guacamole. My nachos were awful. The guac was green slime. The beans were way more lard than bean. And together with the microwaved cheese, the entire plate looked like an accident. I’ll eat movie theater nachos, but this pile of crap, I could not finish. Lame, lame lame. No Bueno. The only upside is that I ate so little that I didn’t suffer Montezuma’s revenge. Next time I’ll order Mi Casa to-go and eat in parking lot in the back of my van. sheesh.

Our family tradition includes Mexican food every Sunday after church. My wife is from Texas and we lived in San Antonio several years, where we got completely spoiled on great Mexican food. Monterrey is an excellent choice that ranks with some of the best we’ve had. The service is friendly, the beer is cold, the chips are warm, the salsa is VERY fresh, and the food… Wow! Huge portions of calorie-laden, cheese-covered goodness.

Monterrey used to get talked up as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Woodstock, GA, but in a way that moniker speaks for itself: Woodstock Georgia isn’t and shouldn’t be known for its Mexican food. What we’ve got here is another pretty standard hole in the wall Mexican joint, with the same menu you can find in most American-Mexican-styled restaurants of this ilk. The food, while definitely filling, isn’t much of anything to get excited about. The standard fare of tacos and combination dinners, slightly on the bland side but still nice to chow down on every once in a while. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for mediocre Mexican food – you can’t eat top of the line all the time, and sometimes you even prefer it this way. The service is for the most part dependable and attentive, which makes it all the better, but I wouldn’t drive out of my way to eat here.
