I miss their almond twist and friendly service. Also, the almond and chocolate crossiant and cakes too. This place was a once stop shop for coffee and tea and pastry and they had great food. Baked their own bread and all.

The end of an era with this place closing. My family and I have enjoyed their baked goods for over 20 years. I will especially miss the apricot raspberry coffee-cake and the almond log pastries. I hope the owners can reopen someday in a new location.

My wife have been to this café/restaurant more than any other in our married lives. Hands down the best, freshest appetizer bread in the world.

Food items are hit or miss. Sometimes I forget what not to order and leave unsatisfied. My food tonight was just OK. My wife’s fish was excellent. We love the melted bree and flatbread with roasted garlic and chutney. Decent wine selection and friendly service keeps us coming back. You should always try to save room for dessert.

Maybe this is indeed a good place for fresh baked items like bread, pastries, and large cakes, but for a dine-in experience, I found things utterly average, at least at breakfast. Omelets and other cooked breakfast items were simply OK, as was the coffee — overall, nothing special. Service was also rather perfunctory and impersonal. As nice and wealthy as the immediate area is, I’m assuming that it’s relatively sparsely populated(unless you head across the freeway deeper into Redwood City) and that, therefore, there isn’t a whole lot to choose from if you just want a simple meal.

Went in Saturday evening to get coffee and hot chocolates. Stood at the register for a few mins while two girls ignored me. The girl at the register was blonde and not friendly at all. Seemed bothered to help me. I’ve been here a few times and I have never encountered someone like this. My kids hot chocolates were cold. What a waste of money. I won’t be back.

I agree, food is pretty good but the staff is horrible! I called in a large order to pick up the next morning. When I arrived– no order. Then the lady spent 10 minutes finding and writing down my order, all the while I said it’s ok I’ll just tell you what we’d like. Nope. She wrote it down, helped 4 other customers, made a rude remark about why would you leave a message so late– um because that’s when people got back to me– and then IGNOREDME. Like no joke just pretended I wasn’t there. And never helped me. I had to ask another incompetent lady for help. Will not be back. Sad too because this was my childhood favorite.

i had read about this popular bakery in the almanac, which serves woodside, atherton, menlo park and surrounding areas. what caught my eye was the fact that this bakery had lost its lease and would be closing in mid-january, so i definitely wanted to check it out before they closed their doors for good! my friend and i decided to drop by for brunch and some pastries after our morning workout. it was freezing cold outside so we were happy to sit inside at the bar, next to the kitchen, where the stove emitted extra heat! i ordered the garden special omelet($ 13) which included mushrooms, artichoke hearts, fresh tomatoes, tricolor bell peppers, and mozzarella. since i requested egg whites only, it incurred an additional charge of $ 1. i also requested that they hold the mozzarella since i didn’t want any cheese in my omelet. no charge for omitting ingredients! the omelet came with two sides, a choice of toast, and their house roasted potatoes. i picked the sourdough, since i’ve become a fan of this bread since moving to the bay area! i also requested a cup of hot(vs ice cold) water since i was still shivering from my hour long run in the frigid air outside! the hot water warmed my hands, my throat, and eventually, my tummy, and i started to warm up quickly. before our entrees were served, we were brought a plate of complimentary popovers with butter and jam. i hadn’t had a popover since i lived in nyc and dined at a café that specialized in popovers! these mini-popovers were quite tasty, light and fluffy, and clearly made with egg when i saw the inside. what a great way to start off my meal! my omelet was served only a few minutes after i finished my popover and i was impressed at the size and presentation. the eggs were still somewhat soft, and loose, but that didn’t take away from the flavour of the omelet. all of the ingredients blended well together and i think they even threw in some red onions for free! the sourdough bread was hearty, and toasted just right, a little golden brown, but not too brown. i only had one slice since i was pretty full, and unfortunately, didn’t have any of the roasted potatoes until much later that day since i just didn’t have anymore space in my tummy! service was standard, i appreciated the water refills, and the offer of takeaway boxes as we neared the end of our meal. the bill was brought quickly and we were able to pay and be on our way. but…not before getting some sweets to go! by the time we were done with brunch, the line for the bakery was nearly out the door! we decided to wait a few minutes and see if the line would move quickly, and it did! i bought 4 macarons, pistachio, raspberry, hazelnut chocolate, and almond with dark chocolate. for $ 1.80 each, these were pretty good, and i appreciated that the wafer parts of the macarons were made well, crispy on the outside, slightly chewy on the inside. my friend chose a few pastries and a loaf of freshly baked bread to take home. overall, a solid first experience at this cozy, neighborhood café. i hope to return before they close their doors next month. if not for their brunch, i’ll at least come for the macarons!

I left my wallet outside on the bench replete with credit cards, every form of identification known to man and over a hundred dollars cash, free for the taking; after realizing this I called them and they had it for me, safe and secure, nothing missing. They also have really nice mint tea with lemon and honey, lots of other good teas for selection, and a refined yet chill ambiance, all of which I’m now even more a fan!

It’s a bit pricey…$ 10.70 for a slice of pumpkin cheesecake and a cup of tea but nonetheless they taste delicious… There is a wide assortment of desserts here, enjoy!

Took a pit stop here dropping someone off. Looked for coffee and found this bakery and eatery. Talk about a vintage place to eat. Snack. Nd grab a quick pastry. I suggest you have a sweet tooth when you visit. Its important to have a taste for delicious large cookies. A taste for bakery items and fresh tarts. Bring your significant other. Area is incredibly town and country. Very unique and on the hilly area. Secluded from civilization and nearby restaurants and classic grocery market store. Boutique bakery at its finest.

I went there for an early dinner with a friend who has a 14 month old. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the food(pot roast and carrot cake) was very good. The restaurant is located in a kind of strip mall, so parking was easy. The prices were fair.

Its too bad the food is delicious because their service is horrible! I live nearby and sometimes try to get an OJ and muffin in the morning. Half the time they charge me for the food but then no one knows who is suppose to put the muffin in the bag or poor the OJ, I just wait another 10 minutes while they go on break or try to figure it out. After paying $ 7 I normally get a muffin and 12oz OJ. Now they’ve decided to skimp and use 8oz cups. I ask the lady if this is the new normal and she grabs the OJ back, takes a glass off the counter, poors the OJ in the glass, holds it up to my face and says«Its the same size as the glass!!!», poors the same OJ back in the paper cup and gives it back to me. I wanted to throw that OJ in her face! I won’t be going back there again.

The pasta with meatball was delicious. I absolutely love their chocolate croissants! I stop here on my bike rides to grab a snack usually, which is a pastry and coffee. I would recommend this place for brunch, not dinner. Also, sit outside. It’s always so hot when you sit inside!

What a lovely lil’bakery nestled in the hills of Woodside: the perfect treat following a 7-mile hike! We were able to sit outdoors under the shade of an umbrella. There were heat lamps around the perimeter, so it seems they’re equipped for cooler weather in the outdoors, too. The Arnold Palmer cold and not too sweet, and the spinach-chicken-red onion-walnut-feta-balsamic salad paired with a steaming hot bread/roll from the oven was just awesome. The bite I had of a fellow diner’s individual garlic-goat cheese-sundried tomato pizza was delicious – great crust! The desserts in the display looked divine, but we couldn’t fit even one more bite, as tempting as they were. The staff – especially our server – was lovely. The one critique would be that for a such a popular café, there was only two bathrooms, and they weren’t unisex, so the wait even to wash your hands post-hike was a bit long. Would definitely return!

Review of the bakery: I was searching for a high quality birthday cake on short notice, and Woodside Bakery came through for me. I called three bakeries, and they had exactly what I wanted at the best price.(How often do you find the lowest price in Woodside??) The cake was gorgeous and tasted even better. If you’re looking for an impressive cake at a reasonable price, look no further.

I haven’t had such an unpleasant experience at a restaurant in a long time. Even with a reservation, our group had to wait an entire hour before we were seated. They were unapologetic and rude, and didn’t make up for it during our meal – they messed up on various parts of our order and the server just rolled his eyes rudely when he had to go out of his way to get us the right order. Unfortunately, the food was as bad as the service. I wouldn’t come here, unless you’re ready to wait hours for greasy, unappetizing food.

Sit outdoors! Gorgeous outdoor enclosed area that I absolutely love. Also, make sure you factor trying the bread into your diet because it is to die for. Homemade bread. Warm. I usually get one of the seasonal salads and have never not been satisfied. Pizza is also really good. Not always the fastest service, but always nice people and good food. This place can be as casual as you want it to be, with bikers often stopping in mid-ride for lunch. Prices are not as casual, however!

We realllllly liked this place. If you are going by yourself or with a small party of two, sit at the bar top and watch the guys cook. So fun! You can see every dish that comes out. Such a good experience. Plus, I really enjoy watching them cook. The food was great too. It was fast and really tasty. Great portions and good service. We’ll be back without question. Awesome!

Ok so I usually come just for the bread– the mediocre at best service at the counter, I tolerate.(Though today was an exception when I asked if they had orange juice in the refrigerated section — I didn’t see any, and she acted as if it was a preposterous question…) Breakfast was decent at best. Popovers were a bit hard/tough on the outside and they charge you for extra. We ordered tea at the beginning, when asked if the tea was coming after the main meal was delivered, the waiter rudely answers«it’s on its way»… So kind. So overall? Service here REALLY isn’t very friendly. but the bread I’ll have to keep coming back for until I find another place or I become domestic and make my own!
