This place is just outside of Minocqua. If you are staying that area make the short trip here, you will be glad you did. I stopped in around 8am and the donuts were steadily coming out of the kitchen still warm from the fryer. I try donuts everywhere I travel and Schroeter’s were among the best I have ever had. The woman behind the counter(owner I would imagine) was super friendly. How much convincing do you really need to go and try an amazing donut? Since it is not in the downtown area of Minocqua where people are walking around from shop to shop I’m sure this place is missed by many. It’s only 2 miles away and worth the walk, bike ride or drive! Take 51 north to Hwy J then left on Oak to 47 then right for 1 block. They are not open late(close at noon most days) so keep that in mind.

Yuck and bad service! My kids ordered the turkey sandwiches and ten minutes before closing and we were told we had to take them to go because«he» had and appointment. Not sure who«he» was but I’m certain it is not«He». As the only customers at the end of a rainy day, I’m sure one of the other employees would have been capable of watching over us five minutes post closing. Once we got into the car and unwrapped our sandwiches, we discovered they were on white bread, the kind you pack for yourself when you are going on an unpleasant field trip. $ 20 for a small chili, two turkey sandwiches and two chips. Stop at the gas station instead and buy a 4 year old sandwich instead, you will get the same food and service and maybe win the lotto!

I stopped by today simply based on other Unilocal reviews. Greeted by a lovely woman behind the counter, friendly and helpful. Ordered two Cuban sandwiches to go and picked up some popovers. Well — we split two Cubans between 3 of us and we were all delighted — sandwiches were divine. Popovers were light, tender and just the right amount of sweet. When in the Northwoods make it a point to stop in.

Had some very good sandwiches– the cuban wrap and reuben sandwich– both with coleslaw. The coleslaw was really tasty, too! Prices were reasonable… I’d go back regularly if i was from the area!

Tasty simple sandwiches in a casual, friendly place — fresh veggie, Cuban, club, and warm pork were hits! And they make the kaiser rolls from scratch. But it was the desert, chocolate eclairs, that had our group fist to cuffs for a piece. Perfect for family groups.

Tasty fresh breakfast sandwiches and wraps. Fun outdoor area to sit down and eat, and handful of craft up north style brews to enjoy. Just wish they had some hot sauce to pair with the food! Try a fresh donut for dessert, you won’t regret it! Oh, and they have free wifi. Nice!

This is a must try!!! Family owned, outstanding people, great food and the bakery is «to die for»! Mary and Rick work really hard to bring you fresh, homemade, delicious bakery. Hurry(!) they sell out fast! Bring cash-this and a lot of others don’t accept checks or «cards»

Open during winter. Good for takeout or to dine in. Fantastic doughnuts-among the best I have had. Good coffee too. For a warm breakfast option my party enjoyed the breakfast wraps(the tomato wrap was the better wrap). According to the proprietor, baked goods are made on site. You can also order fresh made juices-we enjoyed our apple/carrot/orange.

Continues to be a favorite; stopped in for breakfast today. I had a croissant brakfast sandwich. tasty, but could have been hotter. One star less for the coffee; no real flavor. Obviously popular, as donuts, muffins and other stuff was flying out the door while we were there.

Stopped in here on way to the hardware store and picked up a cheese bagel with plain cream cheese and some coffee. The coffee was great, the bagel which i had toasted was soft and delicious not hard and chewy like some bagels. I was so happy that I brought my sister back for lunch which was great as well! Definitely recommend!

Mom is right, this place is pretty cool, considering before their remodel it was a little shack/bakery that didn’t look like much but really did produce some great stuff. Most likely thing you’ll miss if you don’t look: they have a bunch of micro-brew and local beers you should check out. Next time I go I’m getting one of everything.
