One of the best Indian Restaurants I have been to in a long time. I recently moved from Palmdale to the Valley and was not able to find any good indian restaurant in the area. Have tried many. The service & the food was at its best! I got a chance to meet with the owner and he has been running this business for over 30 years at the same place. The food was just amazing. We(me & my wife) ordered vegetarian, so can’t comment on the non-veg food. Almost forgot to mention, the atmosphere was really nice too.

The interior was the first thing that impressed me about this place. It has a pleasant atmosphere although it sometimes gets a bit noisy. The food was delicious and I was impressed with the polite service. If I have to point one thing that I’ll be going back again to try, it’s the pineapple curry. Overall, this is probably the best Indian meal I’ve had thanks to the guidance of the waiter. As i didn’t find what I normally order at such restaurants, I had to ask for help and I’m really glad I did as the dishes were all delectable and unique in flavour.

Perhaps the best indian food outside of San Francisco. The only negative is the décor, which is definitely«hole in the wall» and could use an upgrade.

I do not remand this place at all. If you want to feel rushed out the secant you set down this is the place for you . This was the first time my friend and I were there. We were told by a friend that Shalimar Cuisine has the best Indian buffa food. If you are looking for Indian food DON’T GOTHERE. !!! MY Friend and I were up the street and decided to get lunch there. We walked in and they sat us down it was around 1 pm. We were not the only ones in the place there were 2 tables with other people. We went to get our food out of the silver dish and most of them were empty and there were only 8 silver dishes that should have had food in them. We both thought they were going to refill them up but to our surprise they did not. When we went to sit down the weightier came to see if we were going to go back up to refill our plats if not they were going to start to put things away, I told him him we wanted to eat and them see if we wanted more. He walked away. I looked at my friend and I told her why did they not tell us that they were closing down early. We both finished still hunger and went to see if they had anything else. All we got was bits of chicken and chick peas, and I got grilled onions that were the left overs that you know that there was something else that went with it. The guy came by to see if they could clean up we said yes. Then he came back with the bill. We paid $ 20.75 with water that we both had. as we were driving away we saw that they are open at 11.:30 to 2:30 and it was only 1:40 and they put there close sign up and locked the door. That was our first time there and it’s our last time.

I’ve been coming to Shalimar since I was a teenager and I’ve had plenty of Indian food since then from my travels all over the world and but this place, hands down, is still some of the best I’ve had.(The best I’ve had was in England but that’s a bit far from the Valley over here) The owners and staff are SONICE to my family and always very welcoming.(The reviewer that claimed there was racism is insane. I’m Asian and have always been treated really well. Seems like that guy is racist against Bangledeshi people. I don’t care who makes my food as long as it’s good) The lunch buffet is well worth it and they are good with changing the dishes from time to time to keep it interesting. Our favorites from the menu are Chicken Tikka, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chana Masala and saag paneer. If you like spicy food you should let them know so they can spice it up for you. I appreciate they don’t automatically assume everyone eats spicy because I certainly don’t. I know people have their favorite Valley Indian joints and will probably try to pick Shalimar apart but really, the food is exquisite here and you should try it for yourself.

The delivery driver and the people on the phone were so rude. Our order came with no rice by mistake and when we called back to ask if they would send rice, which we would pay for– they said No. So here we are with all of this food and no rice. Also, the raita is the worst I’ve ever had. It’s virtually plain yogurt. Definitely won’t do delivery from this place again!

This is the best Indian restaurant that I’ve found in the Woodland Hills area as far as dinner. Their lunch buffet is just OK and is only on the weekdays. What’s unique about this Indian Restaurant is that they have beef on the menu which is new to me. The service is good as long as they don’t get to busy then it feels under staffed. Parking can also be a challenge.

Shalimar is really great. We eat there a couple times a year & order in a couple times. We are never disappointed & our guests always love it too. We rarely get the same things because we can never remember the names but we always love. The place has a cool vibe & the staff are great & welcoming & helpful with the ordering

The rating is for the food — very tasty and wide variety on the menu. If you ask for spicy, you get spicy. Ask for mild, it’s mild — the way things should be. The quantity of food brought is on the smaller side, but very typical for Indian restaurants. Ordering 2 – 3 main courses for 2 people is about right. I was partial to the Chicken Tikka Makhani. My wife really likes their lamb dishes, such as Vindaloo(although the amount of lamb included could have been greater). My son loved the shrimp curry. The rating is not for service. Granted, we were there on Christmas Day, as this is one of the few restaurants open that day, and they were fairly busy, accordingly. However, it’s quite clear no one working there is also an instructor at charm school. Not very friendly table-side demeanor. And to get their attention as they hustled from the kitchen to their target table was near impossible. My wife all but had to stand on the table waving her hands above her head as she screamed«excuse me» to flag them down a few times for things as simple as we were missing plates, forks, can we get more water, etc. The food is worth it. Just don’t expect a 5-star service experience.

Just so-so. I’m a regular at Agra Tandoori, but was at a friends house that lives far from there and they didn’t have delivery to her house so we decided to give Shalimar a chance. We decided to try a little bit of everything… A chicken curry, shrimp curry, and vegetable curry. We also ordered some naan, and a couple of appetizers. The food was just okay. I don’t want to say it was bad because it wasn’t. But it just wasn’t all that. Pretty bland, and not exciting at all. Indian food is supposed to have some spice to it, it wasn’t spicy at all and there was also no spicy sauce on the side. Another thing the to go containers that they came on we’re super cheap styrofoam boxes… Some of our items were leaking. If I did it again I would have went to pick up from Agra Tadoori, Shalimar delivery took an hour either way.

Great buffet! First time here but the food is light and well prepared. The Pakora is really good, not too oily and not too fried. First time having Kofta Masala and it was incredible! They serve a fresh Boortsog or Bhatoora or something that is to DIE for… it’s like eating a doughnut. The Saag was delicious, the rice was well cooked(especially for a buffet). I will be back!

We went for a quite dinner here recently. What we encountered here was outright subtle racism. This place is run by Bangladeshis who masquerade as Indians but have a(detri?)mental block towards anyone Asian. We got in and were not greeted or shown a seat for a good 6 – 7 minutes till we decided to turn back and leave(Bad decision there!).The servers, for whatever reasons, are grumpy and indifferent to customers and act like they are following some mechanical procedure. We ordered the chicken seekh kabab as appetiser and after a good 10 mins were told it’s not available. We then ordered 2 paneer parathas and one Aloo paratha with Chicken Kheema and this outrageous spectacled server said«Sir, the parathas are very big. Why are you ordering 3 when you are just two?»…we both were amused and bewildered at this and asked him to just get whatever he feels like. Meanwhile decided to order a Corona and out came a… mind it… a non frosted glass and a room temperature bottle of Corona(And blasphemy… No Lime… see pic!).I told the server the bottle is not cold and he said all Coronas were the same! I said you should not serve it then and all he could manage was a shrug! Waaaaaaaattt… we were almost going to leave when the food came out…2 paneer parathas and chicken kheema… wow…our server decided to cutout our order and get whatever he wanted to serve us… and drumrolls please… it wasnt Chicken kheema… he came back in 2 mins and took away the dish and dissappeared into the kitchen. Oh wait… the parathas were tiny(see pic)…and the kheema came out a good 20 mins later… we skipped the whole kheema in disgust… paid the bill and left. We got no apology, and no words from the manager to makeup for the very forgettable experience we had. I don’t leave bad reviews to Indian restaurants since I am familiar with the struggles these restaurants face with chefs and ingredients but this time I was left with no option. If you look remotely East Asian/Indian/Oriental, give this place a miss just for the poor racist n pathetic service!

Any celebration in our family, we go to Shalimar for dinner. For years every dish was delicious. Service is great and if you never ate this kind of food, try it. The chicken tikka masala was great, the naan bread is wonderful, and just everything we order is fabulous.

I’ve had better. All I can say honestly. The food wasn’t bad by any means, some was pretty tasty. But all I can say is it was average. I found most of the dishes to be very bland. NOTHING was spicy in the slightest, which is one of the reasons I love Indian cuisine. The servers were very pleasant and attentive, and you can’t beat the price for the all you can eat lunch buffet.

One of my Indian friends suggested that we eat here for lunch, because it is one of the best Indian restaurants in town. I agree! FIVESTARS for Shalimar Cuisine of India. If you go here for lunch, skip the typical lunch buffet because it was made for the western pallate. Instead, as the friendly servers or owner what their specialty dishes are! My colleague and I ordered two dishes: First dish was the Lamb Vinaloo. OMG Delicious and tasty. A spicy stew that has tons of flavors and spice. Loved it! Grade: B+ Chicken Marsala. The best dish here! This other type of stew had nice chunks of chicken in it that had a delicious sauce that I sopped up with either naan or rice. Delicious and the highlight of the meal! Grade: A! Food Grade: A-/A Service Grade: A– Worth the Money Grade: B+/A– Overall Impression Grade: A–
