Amazing coffee and great food… but unfortunately they’ve now closed. Such a shame. Today, October 23, 2013, they posted this on their Facebook page: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Stools are all tucked in, the last scone was sold, dishes are washed and the boiler to the espresso machine is turned off. Our thanks and gratitude to all our friends and customers that have supported us during the past year. Unfortunately, it is time to close. BCC was opened as your neighborhood coffeehouse where new friendships were created and old friends met. Where cells phones were put down and conversations were started. And where you could get a hot cooked breakfast made right in front of you and remember what coffee was supposed to taste like. We’ll miss our mornings together. Thank you and God bless. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

I wanted to like this place, I really did. It’s small and chic and the menu sounds great… I pushed myself to try Boulevard out one morning, even though its almost an hour out of the way. Pulled up just as they were opening at 7:30. They had no iced green tea so I went with the special, peach iced tea. It was delicious but that was probably because there was a toooon of peach sweetener. After a few sips I felt immediately guilty, longing for my light and refreshing Starbucks green tea. Not to mention it was over four dollars. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was great, as was the fried egg. Loved the seasoning on it, but they had no meats prepped for use. I didn’t notice price until checkout, but seven dollars later, I had a fried egg and an English muffin. Not quite worth it. I hate to admit the price of my order is probably what will keep me from coming back.

We had breakfast here today while waiting for my daughter’s car to be serviced at Livingston Volkswagen. What a delight! We started with a glass of orange juice and terrific coffee from Café Trieste in San Francisco! Coffee was rich and deep. We had a café au lait that my daughter deemed, «the best she’s ever had!» We also had a taste of the wonderful chocolate and cinnamon muffins that are made in house. For breakfast I had the sausage sandwich. Two sausage patties are served on an English muffin with a fried egg, cheese, and tomato. It was a nice sandwich. I like the eggs crispier and the muffin toasted more, but otherwise it was great! We also had the Denver Omelette and the traditional bacon and eggs. The crispy fried potatoes with a hint of garlic and onion were so delicious that I am inspired to make them myself on Sunday morning! This is a great little place!

I see the great reviews, and I suppose we went on an off day. And I’ll say I’ve been a waitress for many years in many places, so what follows is just common sense stuff any server should be up on. It wasn’t very busy at all, maybe two other couples dining there, outdoors, and somehow, our order went to a couple that ordered well after us. It was a similar order, yet our food took 40 minutes to get to us, and it was indeed the other couple’s order, as I asked for no meat on my croissant sandwich, and they apologized, had to take it away and fix it. It’s just common sense we ordered first, and the only ones sitting inside no less, right in front of them, two girls on hand, and no one could figure this out? Then the toast my friend had with his omelet was not buttered. We asked for jam — strawberry or apricot? Apricot please. She brings out the strawberry. Never asked if he’d like anything else, such as hot sauce or ketchup for his omelet. So I’m getting up to ask for this, as well as the jam. My friend is a coffee snob honestly, but he didn’t like that his coffee drink came out in a paper cup — if dining in, china should be used, it’s a better coffee experience. And they had the china, so, I don’t know why they didn’t use it. Plus the foam was lousy, according to him. My iced caramel machiato was far too milky, not enough espresso balance, so I wasn’t too thrilled with my drink. The food itself wasn’t bad, but we were so put off by the space case service that was rather inattentive and lazy, that it really doesn’t matter. We won’t be going back. It was not a cheap breakfast, but a cheap service experience.

Breakfast review: hearty omelet was hearty indeed, consisting of 2 eggs, onions, mushrooms, poblano peppers, cheese, ground beef and spinach. Comes with a side of toast or potatoes. Go with the potatoes. Also ate a sample of their blueberry scone and it was really good too. Wife ordered a cherry latte it was sweet but we enjoyed the cherry flavor. There is outdoor seating so you can bring your dog, and I really like the bench chairs that seat two. A little pricey but everything was great! **yelp check-in offer is a free upgrade in coffee size**

Right off Ventura Blvd is this quaint coffee shop. As I walked in I was greeted by a nice woman and felt at home right away. This place seems to have a lot of regulars which is a good feeling as a new customer. I ordered the Mexican Mocha Latte and Sausage & Egg English Muffin. Latte had a nice balance of Mocha and Non Fat milk. Very tasty. The English muffin was wonderful! It was topped with tomato, spinach, and cheddar cheese! It was fresh and right off the grill. McDonalds needs to take some cooking lessons from BLVD because that English muffin was mouthwatering! Whenever I am in the area and its breakfast time I will make it a point to stop in and grab some breakfast! I even put a $ 1 in the TIP jar, I never do that! Plus I love supporting small businesses! Say Whaaaaaat!

Went here for a quick bite to eat before hitting the road to Oakland. I had a bagel with cream cheese and a cappuccino. Every thing was good. You can’t mess up a bagel or a cappuccino in my eyes, LOL! Next time, I will make sure I have time to try out something else.

Had a breakfast croissant sandwich and espresso. I can’t remember the last time I had a sandwich this good from a coffee shop. Espresso was terrific as well. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Looking forward to trying more from the menu.

Yummmmm! I’ve never had a Banana Chocolate Latte, it was SO good. There were even tiny bits of real banana in it. Sweet but not too sweet, a perfect little treat. My boyfriend got the Banana Licuado which is just banana and milk blended together and the cup had caramel drizzled in it. It was so creamy and refreshing but something you could easily make at home so it’s hard to justify paying $ 4.00. Still really good if you’re on the go and want something cold. The baristas were really nice and friendly. I’ll be back to try the Mexican Mocha. Cheers :)

Went to this place for the first time with my brother and brother-in-law. He was talking about how great this place was and I say I have to agree with him. I had the Café Mocha and had an omelette. The Café Mocha is some of the best I ever had. The omelette was a build your own one, so I got mushrooms, bell peppers, and ham. The eggs were nicely cooked and I was happy it come with some toast and a nicely cut strawberry. Overall, I say the place is great and highly recommend it!

If you enjoy an atmosphere where the owner knows your name, puts love into every drink and morsel he serves up, you will love this independent(not corporate in any way) and innovative café. Dirty Chai, chai with shot of espresso, rocks. Mex mocha, rocks. Green tea ice blended, rocks. Hearty omelette was fabulous. Hand seasoned ground beef, onions, mushrooms, poblano peppers, spinach and cheese, super special. The bacon is perfectly prepped. It is a young enterprise so when it’s busy, hang in there, it’s worth it. Pablo cares about his food and the friends he serves there(you will become friends with him cause he’s that kinda guy). Ps. If you love great music, he’s got great tunes rolling all the time as well.

It honestly took 1 hour and 10 minutes to receive a simple salad and a veggie sandwich; granted the bread was toasted(and under toasted, at that), but I was the only costumer there! It took 10 minutes to receive a latte In short; plan on sticking around for a while

The care taken in preparation of great coffee is impressive here. The owners even have coffee brought down from San Francisco since they believe to have found the best beans there. I was greeted so warmly here and the general atmosphere(small diner meets independent café), combined with fresh coffee made my afternoon. Cheers to companies that remember the beauty of human interaction.

I have just been ranting about the lack of local and homegrown coffee shops in the area. Yes, we have a slew of Starbucks’ and Coffee Bean’s… but nothing small with high quality beans. Actually, once I was shown that Starbucks has a burnt taste(and yuck to their«clover» system) which I never noticed before, but now stops me from enjoying their coffee, I try to avoid chain coffee whenever possible. The only local coffee shop was Muddhouse in West Hills, but typically, that’s out of the way for me. We had nothing local, in Woodland Hills, but my laments have now been answered. Enter BLVD Coffeehouse! They’re occupying the spot where«Off the Q» had their very short-lived spot on Ventura Blvd, so it’s close to that Soup’s Sports place and on the same side of the street but right across from the shopping center that houses Menchies. The only gripe with this place is the parking, there is metered parking in the front which is hit or miss… but there is local parking on some side streets around the corner. It’ll only be a short walk… but it’s still a little difficult to find convenient parking. The inside of the little place is kind of sterile. I think when they get a chance they need to make it a little more coffee shop and homey or trendy… instead of the sterile diner vibe it currently has. The coffee however is amazingly tasty and I love that they have some inventive coffees! I had the horchata which did not disappoint. The coffee was smooth and very tasty. The horchata included a pinch of cinnamon and did have a bit of a «horchata rice» taste but it was not overly sweet(which I was worried about) and was perfect. I also asked the owner, who is a very sweet man from San Francisco, who wanted to bring something unique to Woodland Hills, about the origin of the beans: cue Portlandia Episode 1 here: The coffee is Caffe Roma, which is roasted in San Francisco and the beans are imported from Italy. It’s certainly smooth and tasty and something we don’t have around here! There are lots of rotating flavors(although they’ll always have my horchata) and some seasonal ones, so I will definitely be back to try many more and I will be in whenever I need a coffee fix!(and bringing the Pumpkie one the next time I’m here!)

This morning I took a chance on one of the seasonal drinks… Thin Mint Mocha. Preparation and presentation is EVERYTHING! They know I generally avoid the whip cream, but when the owner explained the delicate balance of toppings that makes this drink stand out from the rest I conceded. It was probably the best decision I’ve made in my life, not including that time I went to Cat and the Fiddle and met Morrissey. Care and enthusiasm goes into each drink and meal that they make. Bravo, Blvd. Café!

I came here early morning for a need of a caffeine fix. The barista suggested I take the plunge and try a dirty chai. He made it with soy milk and added a sprinkling of cinnamon on top. Then I had my first sip. It. Was. Divine. The milk was just enough froth on top and the flavor was perfectly sweet with the slight bitterness of espresso. I also ordered the croissant sandwich sans cheese. The sausage is grilled right in front of you and the sandwich is prepared with care. Now, if you are expecting fast food this place is not it. They put time and attention into each item they prepare. But it is totally worth it. My sandwich was huge. I ended up splitting it with a coworker. The sandwich was very satisfying. The croissant was nice and flaky and the tomato and salad greens were the perfect compliment to the sausage. This place is well worth coming to enjoy a cup of coffee were the goal is to have you enjoy every sip for the flavor not just get you a quick cup of joe.

My prayers have been answered! This is the sweet little neighborhood coffee/breakfast spot I had been praying for! It’s just perfect. I’m already hooked. The owner and the staff are super nice and they go out of their way to make sure you’re happy with your drink/food. Their chai tea latte made with almond milk is instantly addicting. I am already jonesing for it on a daily basis! And I also ordered an egg white omelette cooked in light oil(no butter) with green pepper, onion and bacon. Yummy! For real, their bacon is so delish! I’m making myself hungry! They have a good and unique selection of drinks. I suppose if I ever get tired of the chai tea latte I’ll give something else a try. I’m almost certain it’ll be great and I’ll be addicted to it as well. This is one of those places that I don’t want to tell anyone about because I want it all to myself but at the same time I want to shout it from the rooftops… give it a try! You’ll love it! I promise!

A friend and I were looking for a place to grab a late breakfast on a lazy Sunday afternoon and thought BLVD Café looked promising. It’s a small place with a few tables inside and patio and bar seating. Upon entering we sat ourselves down at the bar. There was only two other parties inside and the server promptly took our orders: a hearty omelet and a breakfast burrito. Little did we know we were in for a wait of epic proportions! It took 1 hour and 10 minutes to get our breakfast. In fact, one of the other customers gave up and left because of the long wait time. I’m still quite confused as to why it took as long as it did. From our seats at the bar we could see that only item would be cooked on the stove at a time, followed by a 5 — 10 minute break between. I’ll admit that the staff working there was polite and apologetic. In fact they even offered us a complementary scone during the extreme wait. However a free scone can only pacify so much hungry frustration. Maybe I’ll come back to grab a coffee someday but I think I’ll avoid eating here again.

Arrived noon to early afternoon on a Sunday and the place was definitely not packed. There was a pair of people sitting outside and maybe two other tables inside. My friend and I intended a late brunch I guess you could say. Dear gawd, I didn’t expect the wait to be over an hour plus to get our food cooked. I ordered a ‘hearty’ omelet which consisted of provolone cheese, mushrooms, spinach and ground beef. I watched as he took a hamburger patty and broke it up into little pieces to initially start cooking. He literally cooked the same hearty omelet one by one for three others at another table before us. My friend ordered the breakfast burrito and it was kinda skinny and it was wrapped with those large tortillas. The cook would cook one plate at a time, then his coworker would serve one person at the three person table. Watched him repeat this slow process three times over. There was another party next to us that maybe 30 – 40 minutes upon sitting down. We were offered a free scone for our patience. The two staff members were really nice though. I have to say that they do make drinks in a timely manner during our wait. Our intention was food and not coffee. In the end, after an hour plus they offered our meals on the house. We left a tip for sure. I guess I should have been more attentive to the fact that other Unilocal reviews only spoke of the coffee and made no mention of the food. So come here for coffee and to hang out but don’t bother with food especially if you have things to do.
