Johnston’s, Inc./Clear N’ Bright Windows

Excellent job cleaning our windows on 3600 sq ft home. Very prompt and professional service. Bought the special through Angie’s List. I would definitely hire them again to do the windows and screens 1x per year.

Very disappointed. First of all nobody called me to confirm the appointment that we made about a month ago. I sent email and did not get any response. Anyway I waked up early Saturday morning still expecting that your cleaning person can show up at 8am as was scheduled. No one came at 8am, but eventually they arrived at almost 9am that is about an hour later. They did a quick checkup and I was told that the whole house windows cleaning cost will be $ 350. I was shocked… because you gave me the estimate between $ 175-​$ 200. I understand that you gave me just pre-​estimated cost and it can be more, as you said $ 225, I can admit $ 250, but $ 350 … it was above my expectation…
However I agreed because I was planning it and waiting for a month… I was thinking at least my windows will be professionally cleaned and I won’t worry about it…
They asked me where I want to start inside or outside. I answered it doesn’t matter because I expect all my windows to be cleaned thorough. I have done it before and know how professional cleaners work.
Your guys started outside but I noticed they didn’t open any window. I was waiting when they started inside and asked if they are going to open windows and clean them all or just wipe the glass. They said it will be additional cost. Another shock. I already agreed to pay much higher price than was estimated and just learned that all they do is wiping windows’ glass outside and inside. This is not how professional windows cleaners work. My windows was cleaned professionally before and not once… All professional windows cleaners did opened windows and cleaned all the way thorough. It’s not even discussed. But just wiping windows’ glass for $ 350… Excuse me, this is not a professional work well done. It’s just fooling…
Furthermore, when I told them this is not what I was expected, the young boy that could be at age of my son, started to arguing with me in a raised voice. He said that they alway have to deal with customers like me… Seriously?! Do you always have unhappy customers? Why? May be because you never do a good job to make your customers satisfied and happy. I wish I could know that before I invited you to do a work in my house. I told him I am not going to arguing with him in this tone and he is free to leave. They left immediately and didn’t finish even wiping interior glass. How disappointed…

We hired Johnston’s Clear n Bright to clean out gutters last month. They did a great job and I would hire them again! The gutter cleaning bid was competitive, they came on time– in fact they called us back and offered an earlier appointment that same day as they had a cancellation — lucky us!
Our gutters and downspouts were significantly clogged and we had several «waterfalls» that had started spilling over the side of the house during the heavy rains. Also our house is a two story with a very steep pitched roof. No problem! Johnston’s Clear n Bright scooped it all out by hand: sticks, leaves, bird nesting materials — no problem. They scooped it all out and cleaned up the mess on the ground by hand.
They were quick and clean and did exactly the job that the office staff bid. I don’t know why their star rating on Unilocal is so low — guessing there’s just not enough reviews? Their Angie’s list rating is near perfect and has more reviews on their services. Even though Unilocal is my favorite go-​to for business advice usually.

We hired Clear N’ Bright to clean our roof and gutters, to «gentle wash» our house and garage and pressure wash one wood deck. We had to have them come back a total of FOUR times to «finish» the job, and it still isn’t clean, I just finally gave up and we will finish the job ourselves. Some areas actually look worse than they did before. Specifically the garage door which they appear to have pressure washed rather than «gentle washed». We had to point out the front of the house (yes, the front of the house) two times to get it «cleaned» and it still isn’t. They charged $ 200 to pressure wash one of our decks and literally didn’t even do it at all until we specifically called them back and asked for a refund. Then after saying that one of the owners was coming out to see what was going on, they sent a very young guy who didn’t even seem to know anyone had been out before… and he didn’t have the correct equipment to clean the deck rails the way the woman on the phone described that it needed to be cleaned. Each time they came out they sprayed large quantities of water into the house that they did not offer to clean up. They also offered new customer and multiple services discounts over the phone that the guy wasn’t aware of so we had to re-​negotiate the bill. Overall it was NOT worth the money we spent and I would highly recommend hiring another company for your exterior home cleaning needs.

These folks are top-​notch. I had them pressure wash and stain my back deck, fence, front porch and driveway and they did an amazing job! So friendly and professional — highly recommend them… I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!

I scheduled Johnston’s to come out and put up Christmas lights. The minimum charge is $ 125, which was ok since the phone person said I would get a discount for first time use and multiple services. I also asked if, while they were up on the ladder they would just throw the gutter leaves onto the lawn. They came out and I had to re-​negotiate what I wanted.
Additionally, I had all my lights and clips (to put lights on the gutters) ready to go, with extras if needed. They ended up stapling the cord to my eves instead of using the clips. Not what I wanted or expected. Yes, I assumed they would use the materials I left out.
I would not recommend this business. Try Better Window Cleaning in Seattle instead.
