Amazing food and even better service. The bartender came to the table to make sure he knew exactly how to make our drinks. Tacos and salads are the best you can get at any local Mexican restaurant. Highly recommend.

I live in Norwood and went to the Blue Moon there and had the most horrible food experience I have ever had. It was so bad that my boyfriend, sister, and I vowed never again to spend a penny there and to tell everyone we know to avoid it at all costs. My friend dragged me to the Woodcliff Lake location with promises of amazing food nothing like Norwood. Of course I was incredibly skeptical and already nauseous thinking about having to stomach the food. We sat at the bar and were helped by Jaclyn and Aris. They were both incredibly personal and knowledgeable about the menu. I don’t drink alcohol with dinner but my friend had a margarita that looked delicious. We let Aris and Jaclyn know about my dreadful time at the Norwood location and they immediately vowed to change my opinion of the Blue Moon Mexican Café name. I allowed Aris to choose my meal for me and he asked what kind of meat I liked — steak, chicken, shrimp — and if I preferred rice and beans over fries or a salad. 10 – 15 minutes later, I was given two burritos– one chicken and avocado, the other shrimp and avocado. The plate came with two sauces and he explained them both to me very clearly and even told me which burrito would be best with which sauce. His confidence in the meal helped me put that fork in my mouth and I was blown away. Absolutely delicious. I was so shocked at the difference between the food quality of both restaurants. This was more than 100% better than Norwood– this was 200000% better. This gave me renewed faith in Blue Moon. I will absolutely be coming back but ONLY to Woodcliff Lake. Thank you Jaclyn and Aris!

Service was great and food came out super fast, overall it was ok, can’t say nothing about the food being bad or good, it’s just something that you forget fast.

Grrreat appetizer — zucchini nachos topped with chicken and/or shrimp. Perfect for this time of year. Highly recommend and it was enough to eat along with a blueberry margarita — refreshing way to finish the evening. I really enjoy this place as my go to place, I cannot stop recommending it.

Good food and decent margaritas, usually go there for happy hour with my coeorkers because they have good specials. Their taquitos are awesome, no beer on tap though.

Made my regular stop at the moon today and as usual had a great meal and a great time. Philly moon rocks and the sword fish special was out of this world. Aris and Jaclyn made our visit as always special. Try the Mad Dog.

Food was Bland. Not authentic Mexican Food. Go Elsewhere if you want good Mexican. Zagat Reviewed Who are these Zagats anyway? They have no tastebuds.

Raising my review just because it’s consistent. I come here at least 2 x a month for their salmon avocado salad and some drinks. The chips are good as is their salsa.

I came here with a group of friends on Valentine’s Day weekend for dinner, and had a nice time, mostly because of the company, though nothing really went wrong with the food or service. I remember this place being better in my memory than it has been recently. They have a bar and TV area and then some tables for dining. The place isn’t very big but you usually don’t have to wait. Because of V-day, they had balloons around, which kept popping because of the lamps perhaps. It was festive. For an appetizer, we had the queso and guacamole and chips, and that was fine. One of my friends said that queso was really good, though I’m not sure how you can mess up hot cheese! I ordered the chicken avocado quesadilla and it was good. The chicken in all the dishes was a bit dry, but you had toppings like sour cream, avocado and salsa to mask that a bit. Overall, the food was fine — definitely not authentic Mexican but not terrible nonetheless. I must say that the calamari wasn’t very good as calamari goes — kind of rubbery and too breaded and fried. The menu is fairly extensive with different salads, burritos, quesadillas and platters. The seafood also seemed to be overcooked and didn’t have that refined taste to it. The portions were also pretty good size. For what you’re getting, I do think the meals were a bit overpriced. The service was good for our big party and attentive enough. If this place could become a little more authentic and careful with the food, I would definitely like it better.

Still unsure about the poor quality of food, but I recently went to the bar and got drinks with Aris. He is awesome. Gave me great drinks right away, and was very friendly. The manager jacklyn was very friendly and attentive. I’ll be coming back for drinks just because of them.

I have passed this place so many times through the years and never remember to bring it up to friends or dates. After finally getting an invitation to go there I was immediately hooked. I go for the triple play burrito or their fajitas. I enjoy Mexican food regardless, but this place is just delicious. And the drinks? Yes please! Sangria pitchers and A+ ‘ritas warrant a return visit. So stoked they are opening up a new location where Blind Boar used to be in Norwood soon! So much closer and I have high hopes.

Place is horrible. The prices are outrages. My husband and I ordered guacamole and chicken, quesadillas. He got a warm beer and a mango drink. We spent 50 dollars. It was the worst meal I ever had. I could have gone to taco bell and got better. They used to be good but I guess with change of management it just went down hill.

I’ve lived right down the road from the place and passed it a million times on my way to Park Ridge. I finally ate here with my boyfriends family and thought it was good! I got a club quesadilla and I really enjoyed it. The chips and salsa they give you at the beginning of dinner is a perfect start to the meal and the drinks were good. just a little cramped in the restaurant where we were seated. It was also right by the door so the traffic of people waiting on a Friday night was kind of distracting and loud.

Not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had but hey, it’s New Jersey. The service was nice during our work lunch and the restaurant is cute. I had the fish tacos. They were good but the rice and beans were just average. I almost spit out my food when I saw the woman at the next table put BBQ sauce on her burrito. I would go again just due to the proximity to my work.

Margarita w/Corona: C– This drink was mostly corona, the glass was pretty small and came with a very weak Margarita. Fajitas: F Forget the sizzling plate, you get semi warm meat shoved next to your rice & beans. Salsa: C– Not a fan. Steak & Avocado empanadas: C+ Pretty good but also fairly bland with fried corn tortilla & avocado trumping the ‘flavor’. Not worth the $ 53 bill. It’s a one & done with Blue Moon.

Ok, I’m pretty sure no one walks into a Chili’s clone in Bergen County NJ and expects amazing authentic Mexican food. However, the food here is just plain bland, whether your favorite Mexican food is dollar tacos from the carts in East LA or whether it’s Taco Bell. Every dish I’ve tried tastes like absolutely nothing. On the plus size, portions are huge. I’ve yet to finish one of their standard sized burritos in one sitting. On the down side, a large portion of subpar food is still subpar. The lone bright spot in a restaurant devoid of charm and taste is the dessert menu, which contains an amazing cheesecake chimichangas dish that is absolutely slamming.

I think Blue Moon is really solid Tex-Mex. If you’re going there and are expecting authentic Mexican food, you’ll be disappointed, but it’s definitely good Tex-Mex. Their $ 5 happy hour house margaritas are really good — and STRONG for happy hour margs, which is always a positive. You do have to sit in the bar though in order to get happy hour deals, which is worth noting. My standby was the Veghead burrito, which is a massive, veggie filled burrito with guac and/or sour cream($ 2 extra if you want both). It is seriously enormous — big enough to eat at least half and take the rest home for a solid lunch the next day. Lately I’ve been switching to the combo platter, and trying out the different variations of taco/burrito/chimichanga/etc, which comes with a huge portion of rice and your choice of black or refried beans(black for me, always). I believe for a choice of two off of a list(that include chicken, beef, or vegetarian options for each), it’s $ 11.50, and $ 14.50 for three choices. I definitely think that for the portion size that you get, it’s well worth the money, especially for a really solid house marg(on the rocks, no salt).
