Dakotah Salon & Spa

I come to Dakotah for coloring by Dianne. She’s fantastic. She listens, hears what I say and gives suggestions without dismissing what I want, and explains very clearly what can and can’t happen. She is really really good at texture, I am so pleased with my hair, I’ll never do it myself again, which I was happy to do for years until my sister convinced me to treat myself. I’ll go to Dianne every time. I haven’t used any of the other services at the salon, but will come update if I ever do.

JJ always upholds the highest level of professionalism while still making my salon visit comfortable and fun. Her attention to detail ensures I will walk out the door with a hair style that makes me feel confident and re energized. She is an absolute pleasure to work with and I highly recommend her for any occasion.

This place used to be good, dare I say amazing. It’s just not anymore. I hope they make some changes because it was a great place at one time.

In reading some other reviews there seems to be a lot of empathis on miss comminications and other s_​_​t. Not the reason why we come here. I just want people to know who have never been, I have NEVER EVER had a bad cut & I stink @ articulating what I want Yes I know I won’t be walking looking like Angelina Jolie, yet I feel more confident. I don’t follow anyone spacific, btdt! I sit in the chair and while waiting (b/​c I sometimes arrive early) some (not all, SOME) people especially in this area you can never make happy in less you say its free! Thats just what I have observed. What I do know is that I NEVER EXPERIENCED A BAD CUT, no matter who I got. That’s that on the hair on my head. Being on the modest side the women upstairs who wax my «downstairs» (I prefer the Brazilian) not only did what they can to make me feel as comfortable as possible but also did an amazing job. Being that I have had this done by maby 3 different women waxing «downstairs» just like my haircuts are hands down the best around (used other places before Dakota around area) Great quality hands down. Also yes the place is beautiful but what I look for is cleanliness & hygienics, especially when it comes to mani/​pedi & the intimates of waxing (experienced another place before Dakota DOUBLE DIP!) DAKOTA keeps the bar high and if I was new to area trying to find new salon this would be where I’d advise to go.

This was my first time at this very nice salon. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodated a same day appointment. J J did a great job with my ombré. It was not exactly what I had in mind, but she understood the nature of my hair and did something more natural looking. I was not too crazy about the hair blow drying. But again very friendly staff and I know that my hair can be a nightmare to blow dry. The kept giving compliments and genuine advice unlike many other salons on long island. The price is average.

I work at Dakotah salon and spa a great place to work. The owners are great and the staff is warm and friendly and very talented. You will be in good hands whatever Serbia you choose!

I have been following a particular hair stylist for years, and unfortunately she is now at this location. The front desk here is very rude! I had been trying to get a
bang trim for three weeks… I did not want a full hair cut at this point. Finally I drove
well over an hour for my 2 pm appointment, and was told she was busy, very busy with regular hair cuts and did not have them for a bang trim today. I explained I had an appointment. They said «Well, maybe you could try back in an hour and 45 minutes.» I did not mind a short wait, but being told to come back in two hours and she MIGHT have time was not acceptable.
I was getting on a plane the next morning for a super important event, so I gave up and went home. Over two hours of driving round trip only for some rude person to send me away.
This place is also very noisy, not relaxing and has a feeling of not being clean.
It is a stressful, not relaxing environment.
I will really have to decide if my stylist is worth this horrible place,
I hope she moves on soon!

I received a private message from the daughter of a stylist there, who also works there in another capacity, blasting me for this review. Clearly, this shop does NOT value their customers. An apology would have been in place, not a nasty note. I was told in her nasty note that bang trims were free of charge (I had no idea what the policy was at this shop, but was prepared to pay, and would have gladly done so). She told me I obviously had a bad day, and needed to wait my turn like everyone else. Being told to come back in TWO HOURS and only then MAYBE she would have time for a two second bang trim was hardly waiting my turn! I had an appointment. A 20 minute wait would have been fine… Being told to TRY back in two hours was hardly «waiting my turn.»
This «reply» sealed the deal of me not returning to this horrid place.
If I treated the customers in my business in this manner, I wouldn’t have any!

The «go to «salon in Woodbury. Owners Joe and Mary Pergola and staff are wonderful. Always professional and accommodating.

I have been a customer at Dakotah salon for many years, and would not go anywhere else. My hair always looks Amazing when I walk out!!! But I just have to share that I stupidly went to another salon to get a keratin Treatment, purely because it was cheaper. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. They did a terrible job and I was gutted! I called my Stylist Michelle who is Fabulous and she told me to pop over, and she would take a look. As soon as I walked in Michelle took a look and called the Owner Joey Pergola over to take over, as he does The Keratin Treatment. What a Pleasure it was… Joey managed to fit me in there and then and sort out the problem. My Hair turned out unbelieveable. I have learnt my lesson! Joey and his Fantastic Team of Professional Stylists and Staff are second to none and I highly recommend you visit Dakotah Salon and Spa.

I was a dakotah salon today getting a keratin treatment with joe and he was phenomenal! My hair came out beautiful! No matter who takes care of you here it is always a treat. Matthew gives excellent keratin treatments as well! It’s no joke that this is the only place I go now. From the staff at the counter to the ladies that wash your hair before, everyone here is great… I had to tell more than my friends!

I went to Dakotah Salon & Spa recently. The salon itself is beautiful, however the staff is typical gossipy hair salon staff. They do a good job, but they’re overpriced. Not a bad choice if your usual place is booked.
